Sam Willis - Sand_Spider - 10-03-2008 Born and raised on Planet Denver in the Colorado system, Samuel Dullard Willis (or Sam for short) was a mechanic for Deep Space Engineering on planet Pittsburg. Bored of his monotonous job, he joined the Junkers on Rochester in their continuous quest for scrap metal. It was an opportunity for Sam to see life from a different perspective, that which was dealing business with Rogues and occasional Outcasts while Maintaining neutrality with local law enforcement. When the time had come for Sam's first time flying for the Junkers, word had spread that he was an excellent mechanic, so Sam was immediately grounded to the station and forced to do most of the technical work on their ships. He hated it. One of the exact reasons he had joined the Junkers was to get away from mechanical work for a while, but apparently he was going to have to do some anyways. The worst part of it was that nobody ever thanked him or appreciated his work. "Hey Sam, some jack-$%# messed my ship up pretty bad, fix it now, or else I'll have to put the hurt on 'ya," one would demand. "Alright mechanic, here's the deal: I go take a nap for 3 hours, and you fix up my ship before I'm back, see?" another would say. Sometimes Sam would hear about some group called the "Xenos" were killing off some of the Junkers. Sam preferred the Xenos kill his Junker "brothers" than just hurt them, It meant less work for Sam, plus there wasn't anyone he cared for or about in the Junkers. Then came the propaganda broadcasts... The Xenos told of the corruption of Liberty's government, the Rogues in how they were mere lackeys of the Outcast regiment, and how they would overthrow the Junkers and take control of the cardimine market in Liberty. "...And as we leave you, one more thing must be said." "In knowledge there is freedom, in truth there is power, in Liberty, there are the Xenos.." (Sam later learns that this is from the book written by Adam Greerson, called "The Unstoppable Truth") That speech, especially the last sentence, convinced Sam to become a Xeno. Waiting until there was no one else in the hanger, Sam went around to all the ships there, tweaking each ship's engine system so that it would explode the next time someone started them, making sure to make it look like he was just working to fix the engines, incase someone came into the hanger. He did so to every last ship except for a single CSV, which he rigged so that it would work for him, and disabled the tracking device inside. Sam then fired up the engines and weapons systems; instead of waiting for the bay doors to open, he blew them apart with the ship's Barragers. His plan was to proceed to Ames research station in Kepler, and relay his request to join the Xenos. Hopefully they would accept him after they hear his story.. Sam Willis - Sand_Spider - 10-04-2008 Many months passed as Sam was accepted into the Xeno Alliance, and advanced from hatchling to Juvenile (at that time he became known as Pygmy, as everyone was named after a type of snake in the serpentis wing), and eventually to the rank of Royal, allowing him more privileges than he had in previous ranks (one of those allowing him to fly a Taiidan bomber). Although the Taiidan was a reliable ship, Sam found it to be, rather ugly.. He heard the Zoners had a newer and better version of the civilian bomber in the works, and that they has a prototype up and running, but it would probably be months before it was ready for mass production. Sam's first ship after becoming a Juvenile was a Crow. It was a rather fast and agile heavy fighter, but it was a bit hard to aim with, which is why most Xenos prefer to fly an Eagle over a Crow. Nevertheless, Sam still loved his ship, and it has since become his primary operating ship since he first obtained it. |
