Piracy in a Fighter - freelancer knux - 04-03-2015 So I've been noticing this a lot lately my question is why are people pirating in fighters at the moment? I get that you want to have speed an agility over your target but most transports are sitting ducks. I more then happily pay most pirates and have a bit of RP fun but in the last week I have a had at least three instances of Lighter Fighters trying to pirate my transports so I just spaced them and moved on but I can't help but think if it was a bomber it would have been a very different experience. I mean I'm not complaining it feels good keeping my profit but I can't understand it from the pirates way of thinking is there something I'm missing about fighter piracy? RE: Piracy in a Fighter - MÃmir - 04-03-2015 I exclusively pirate in fighters, it works just fine. Most of the time traders will go "oh lol little fighter u can't hurt my shields", and when they are half dead they pay up real fast; that's an added bonus compared to the swift death to snac. In a fighter with efficient guns, you can put out a lot of sustained damage and you aren't dependent on hitting with that snac every 10 seconds. You're also ready and able to handle escorts and random fighters showing up to spoil the mood. The downside is that your prey will have more time to get to safety. --------------- For a lot of players that have played for years, it isn't about the "best for the job" but about the "most fun" or "biggest challenge". I guess it's like that in any game. RE: Piracy in a Fighter - Acolyte - 04-04-2015 Fighter piracy also works fine for me. I sunk two Hegemons in convoy and filled with gold ore because they refused to shell out two million credits. Of course, they promptly PM'd the cops and re-engaged me, so maybe they weren't all that familiar with Disco... RE: Piracy in a Fighter - nOmnomnOm - 04-04-2015 You pirate in a fighter becasue it is easier to handle yourself when the cops show up. In a bomber you generally are dead meat. RE: Piracy in a Fighter - Chuba - 04-04-2015 because there are [ALG] transport ganksquads and IMG| transport ganksquads everything that isn't very fast will be destroyed under 6 mins (: RE: Piracy in a Fighter - Sath - 04-04-2015 Piracy in fighters is fun. And unlike bombers, they are quick to respond to fire from transports or to just run away from lawfuls that might come, swarm them. While at the same time, they also have a decent enough DPS to take out a 5k with full regens within 35k of thrusting, if fought efficiently. I mostly use them as an excuse to harass transports, since, come on, who will pay to a meak pirate in a VHF? VHFs have a wide variety of roles, if present in groups. RE: Piracy in a Fighter - evanz - 04-04-2015 due to the mechanics of FL, a boxing fighter will kill any transports, its a shame that it can be done and i wished it couldnt RE: Piracy in a Fighter - SpaceTime - 04-04-2015 (04-04-2015, 07:17 PM)evanz Wrote: due to the mechanics of FL, a boxing fighter will kill any transports, its a shame that it can be done and i wished it couldnt Why not? After crossing 50k distance on thrust (that's the distance you need to kill an armored battletransport on a VHF) if the transport cannot reach a friendly base, it is obvious that it should die. But where in House Space there is not a friendly base within 50k? RE: Piracy in a Fighter - freelancer knux - 04-04-2015 Hmmm ok well I didn't figure VHF's could dish out enough damage but I guess that makes sense. |
