The Trading Convoy - xit - 07-15-2006 Had a chat with kiggles and we talked about how much fun the old RP events were. Then we came up with the idea of a trading convoy! As many transports, trains, and liners as possible, flying together from one end of the map to the other, stock full of valuable merchandise. Say from New London to New York to New Tokyo to New Berlin, not decided yet. The other side has a quite simple objective, attack us and keep whatever we drop. Who knows we could be flying around with Sirius Credit Cards. ;) Rules would be rather simple: Traders: - Transporters, Trains, and Liners allowed. - No mortars, nova mine/torpedoes allowed. Else all weapons allowed. - No armor upgrades. - Only one respawn possible, at a designated safe place (no attacking). Perhaps New York? The other side: - All ships allowed. At least for now. - No mortars, nova mine/torpedoes allowed. Else all weapons allowed. - No armor upgrades. - Unlimited respawns? Basically to represent an endless wave of pirates who want the riches of the convoy. All of this is of course only a suggestion, you are all free to come with your own suggestions. The Trading Convoy - kiggles - 07-16-2006 Also from watching NPC's disrupt my train alot I know it is rather easy to stop them you just have to hit the front of the train and bang they stop. (of course NPC's can't do anything when they stop you) Anyway I was talking to xit about this as he said because I was getting really bored with not much going on and I remember how much fun the RP events used to be. They where just fun what faction you where in was not that important and if the numbers where odd then people would change team (oviously before the event started) and well it was about the most enjoyable time I have had on the server. The atmosphere was so nice people would ask if you felt like another round and you wouldjust have fun no arguing about ship types no running and not fighting. However, I think w/ the traders only having one respawn, it would be biased against them. I think maybe 2 should suffice. With only one respawn, then you would need a LOT more traders than fighters to make it to the final destination. Other than that, it would be great fun, u guys. But the traders would of course have to buy some new merchandise to carry around. It is after all a trading convoy. Another solution would be to put a respawn maximum on the attackers. But that might make it too short an affair. And yes I meant nova torpedoes, not missiles. Sorry about that one. :D The Trading Convoy - Angel - 07-17-2006 Ill fill you in Right now, the CD's hitting the Trains, you have to hit the nose Turret, which is very hard even for veteran players, Ive personal shot 7 Hornets at a Train flying striaght twords me and not stopped it. Another thing is SB and Nanos, Freighters will be spamming them like Crazy, and Not even a Osirus can keep there shields down, so I'd suggest working on that some how. Over all I like it, Its just Discovery is not very pirate freindly, as to dealing with player traders, not even a battleship can stop a Train how sad is that..... Maybe limit it to Transports and large transports only. I think the solution to that is in addition to no armor upgrades, no use of SB or nanos for both sides. Every PvP situation I have been in has agreed to no SB or nanos at the start. Makes it more fair. Also, make it no shield upgrades (i.e. battleship shield on a cruiser, etc) Hmm... sounds like fun. I might have to make a missle cruiser for this event. BabyDoc |
