Captain Solo, Starship Lightspeed Recluse - Kell - 10-10-2008
A small, two man shuttle orbitted the dry-docked ship. Once a proud copper plated beast of burden, the Kusari Explorer infront of Yanagi had seen better days. Vivid jade eyes surveyed the vessel, giving no hint of dis-satisfaction at the numerous pieces of added hull plates, mis-matching the tones. His thin lips creased as they rounded for the docking hatch, noting the solar-collectors were intact.
"She's ready for yeh, Captain." Came from his side, the smaller, older junker grinning widely as he looked over the vessel.
Slowly the other man's lips parted, one word issuing forth, "Yeah, she is." The tiny shuttle pressed to the dock hatch, the two entering the Explorer. Inside was worse than out, as a makeshift banner said "Welcome aboard, Captain Solo" in the airlock. His black boots clacked on the hull plating, every meter changing in sound, some places seemingly hollow beneath. What do I expect? She's over two hundred years old, rescued from an explosive pocket by aging tractor beams. Captain Solo sighed at his thoughts, whisping them away. Another few meters later, the turbolift to the bridge came into view.
It only took a moment for the lift to shoot him to the top. His stride doubled, his face went stoic, and he marched onto the bridge with authority. Around Captain Solo, the other eight bridge members were hard at work on their consoles. Two quick strides took him to the Captain's seat, and he activated ship wide communications. "Take us out people. Lets see whats out there, and what we can haul."
The viewscreen lit up, course set. They were headed for New York, Rochester base had some supplies for them.
