5th Fleet - Faction Information - 5th Fleet - 06-18-2015 Origin 800 A.S
During the Nomad war, many of the most loyal and dedicated members of the Liberty Navy were forced to flee from their homes. After weeks of hiding, they managed to meet in a system where the infected Navy and LSF agents could not follow them. There, in that empty system, they concluded that they had a duty to protect the house of Liberty. Even if that means they would have to fight against their own house. This is what would be later on known as the founding of the Liberty Navy 5th Fleet. They did not have a whole army. Only a few battleships, some cruisers, and fighters remained, and they began to run low on resources. Still, they were the last symbol of hope for Liberty. They waged a guerrilla war, attacking with the element of surprise where the Navy least expected an attack. They would destroy as many ships as they could. Then they would retreat, quickly fleeing the battlefield, when the Navy's reinforcements arrived. After launching a great attack on a massive group of Nomads and infected in Alaska and sending a strike team to Juneau to destroy key assets, they found therein, plans for a new type of satellite. One that could detect cloaked vessels. By this time, they were already working alongside the Order, and were aware that their leader Orilion had stolen a Liberty Navy experimental ship – “The Osiris”, a ship equipped with a cloaking device, and they maintained close relations, sharing information and technology. The fleet command immediately contacted an order agent who was undercover on Buffalo base in New York. After passing on the revelation, the agent gave this info to Orilion. After the Order had saved President Jacobi, and the defeating of the nomadic threat, the Fleet became the main peacekeeping force in Liberty whilst the Navy recovered. During this time they endeavored to hunt down the remaining infected navy and LSF personnel, but for unknown reasons, the government denied all of these requests. 806 A.S. The fleet was disbanded, due to the fact that their members were mostly mustered from other fleets and divisions. When this happened, each and every member made a vow. A promise that when Liberty needed them once more, they would return and fight alongside the Primary fleet against the Republic’s aggressors. With bravery, courage, and honor. 820 A.S. Space did not stay peaceful for long, as the Gauls invaded Leeds, threatening the security of Liberty and its allies. As the war drew closer to Liberty's borders, the fleet was reformed once more to serve, protect, and assist Bretonia and Liberty, till Bretonia regained its sovereign territory from the Gallic crown. However, that is not the only brief, as the fleet is tasked to deliver a final strike to the remains of the old Rheinland Fleets. Nowadays The Military Police within Liberty was created to assist the other Lawful Forces such as Liberty Police Incorporated, Liberty Navy, and the Liberty Security Force. Their main role is to support and assist against the threat coming from inside of Liberty – The Hellfire Legion. The Liberty Police Incorporated were soon being out-skilled by the Hellfire Legion and were in need of assistance from the Liberty Navy, but the Liberty Navy was too busy keeping the nation as a whole safe from the houses that Liberty was in open conflict with. This is why the Military Police were created, as a stop-gap between the Liberty Police and the Liberty Navy. The 5th Fleet was re-purposed for this Military Police role. The 5th Fleet serves as one of the active Navy Fleets. They assist the Police in combating criminal activity from pirates, Rogues, Xenos, the Hellfire Legion and putting a halt to smuggling operations in and around the House of Liberty. The 5th Fleet also maintains the role of assisting the 1st Fleet in fighting hostile houses. The new agenda of the 5th Fleet is to exercise greater powerful authority over law enforcement in the systems controlled by Liberty. The First Fleet of the Liberty Navy was unable to fill this role due to having to concentrate their fire-power and the bulk of their fleet to combating the hostile houses of Rheinland and Gallia. The level of pirate activity within Liberty has risen to a worrying level; crimes reported average at twenty each day. Liberty Police Inc. is throwing all they can into stopping these crimes. The recent technology that has been activated in all Police ships means they have been able to locate the criminals a lot easier, but they still do not have the manpower that they need to fully contain the threat. The Military Police are well equipped to work with both the First Fleet and the Liberty Police Incorporated, to ensure the safety of Liberty, and more importantly the civilians and innocents within her borders. The Liberty Navy is not without corruption, but it's otherwise occupied with his main priorities and roles, and this is where the 5th Fleet comes in. The 5th has the authority to investigate possible crimes, threat, or corruption involving pilots and higher-ranking members of the Navy. The 5th is able to carry out random searches on any pilot that is a member of the Liberty Navy to ensure they are fit for work and not under the influence. They are also able to investigate any pilots belonging to the aforementioned forces and carry out arrests if it is deemed necessary. This is not done lightly, as any arrests must go through the High Command with sufficient evidence to indicate that the subject is guilty before any action can be taken. Goals and Objectives ⋆ Protecting the Republic's sovereign space from outside threats
⋆ To support and defend the constitution of the Republic against both foreign and domestic enemies ⋆ Enforce the Liberty law within the republic's territory and assure peace and order Fleet Divisions: Logistics Division: This division was created to transport ship parts, weapon parts, and other necessary equipment to Juneau to help the station keeping up its productivity. The logistical division is also responsible for transporting the newly accepted recruits onto Juneau so they can begin their training session. The division uses mostly the DK-Hai "Grizzly", the ELHiL51 "Mammoth", the Class C5 "Bison", and the Pelican Armored transport. Motto description: The motto of the division "Servitum Nulli Secundus" comes from ancient Latin which translates to "Service second to None" signifying the division's quality work. Naming structure: 5th|LNT-<shipname> //Anyone can apply to this division who has at least Ensign rank. If you want to apply, please post here Search and Rescue division: The name of this division pretty much explains the role of it. Their role is to search for MIA ships and officers. The members of this division get special training to be able to deal with towing firefighting salvage and medical services. With a constant conflict with pirates and other infiltrators ships often get damaged or incapacitated, and because of this are unable to move. The division uses mostly repair ships, Mammoths, and armored transports with constant fighter support if the ship in distress is in enemy territory. Motto description: The motto of the division "Servamus Vitam Atque Servimus" comes from ancient Latin which translates to Protecting and Serving Life, signifying the division's duty to seek out and rescue the injured. Naming structure: 5th|SAR-<shipname> //Anyone can apply to this division who has at least Ensign rank. If you want to apply, please post here Research and Development: The Liberty Navy Fifth Fleet Research and Development Division (Often shortened to R&D) is the developmental and scientific investigatory sector of the Fifth Fleet's operation. While not as divided as the LSF, the R&D Division provides its work to constantly updating Liberty technology and investigation of extrasolar, extraterrestrial and potentially threatening sources which might do Liberty harm. Coordinating at times with other divisions, both inside and outside the fleet, R&D uses the minds it fields to develop advanced arms and defenses to keep Liberty at an edge over their opponents. R&D primarily focuses on the development of armor to utilize against Liberty's enemies. This has also translated into developing hybrid weaponry to mount on fighters and capital ships, as well as developing new classes of warships altogether. Other sectors of development may pour on as projects are completed. Motto description:"Scientia est Potentia" (also known as "Scientia Potestas est" or "Scientia Potentia est") comes from the ancient Latin phrase for "Knowledge is Power" which indicates the division's will and duty to develop new technologies. Naming structure: 5th|R&D-<callsign> //Anyone can apply to this division who has at least Ensign rank. If you want to apply, please post here The Silver Witches: The Silver Witches are the best of the best when it comes to raw skill in combat. Each pilot is hand picked by the Squadron Leader, and operates in complete obscurity even from the rest of the fleet. They operate by a strict code of conduct, and focus on coordinated attacks through lighting fast methods. Each member covers their identity to ensure maximum impact in the field, leading to expedited results in the field that give the squadron their flavor. Current Squadron Leader: Vice Admiral Nazawo Ayato Motto description:"Vivere Militare Est" comes from ancient Latin, and translates as "To Live is to Fight". Naming structure: 5th|Witch-<number> //This squadron is hand chosen by the squadron leader, and only members of this wing will know they are members. Diplomacy ███████ - Allied

Headquartered in New York. Maintains operational control over the systems of New York, Alaska, Pennsylvania, Kansas, California, Colorado and Texas. The bulk of the command staff and strategic command elements make up LIBCENTCOM, and their role is to provide operational support to constituent Combatant Commands throughout Liberty. Patrol groups assigned to this command tend to focus on homeland security. LIBWESTCOM - Liberty Western Command Headquartered in California. Maintains operational control over the systems of California, Magellan, Cortez and Coronado. Formerly the largest combatant command outside of LIBCENTCOM, LIBWESTCOM has since been scaled back to ensure the security of the Libertonian border with Bretonia and Crayter. LIBEASTCOM - Liberty Eastern Command Headquartered in Texas. Maintains operational control over the systems of Texas, Virginia, Hudson, Bering, Omicron Nu and Puerto Rico. LIBEASTCOM maintains a strong presence within the prison system of Texas and its surrounding external systems, and ensures the security of the route south to the House of Rheinland. Eastern Command enforces the peace between the two houses, and often deals with attacks from both Xeno terrorists as well as enterprising pirates looking to raid Police convict transports. LIBNORTHCOM - Liberty Northern Command Headquartered in Colorado. Maintains operational control over the systems of Colorado, Galileo, Kepler, and Ontario. A much smaller Combatant Command, like its sister command, LIBSOUTHCOM. Northern Command forces are primarily tasked with ensuring the security of shipping routes through the Ontario and Kepler corridors. Bases used in our operations Norfolk Shipyard
Built in 87 A.S., Norfolk Shipyard has the honor of being both the oldest shipyard in Liberty and the second oldest in the Sirius sector, after Yokohama Shipyard in Kusari. Constructed and maintained by the Liberty Navy, it has the distinction of manufacturing many of the Battleships and Cruisers of the Liberty Navy. Of particular interest, is the unique, triple hulled armor plating design that all Liberty Navy vessels have, although the manufacturing procedure used at Norfolk is highly classified. West Point Military Academy West Point Military Academy has been training the best and brightest officers in the Liberty military for over 600 years. Completed in 189 AS and formally opened a year later, the current commandant of West Point is Admiral Matthew Evans, son of the former commandant, Walter Evans. West Point has had many famous personalities who have both trained at the Academy and served on its teaching staff, including decorated veterans such as Captain Jason Findley, Captain Marcus Walker and Commander (now Rear Admiral) Jun'ko Zane. Utilized as the primary military training center for the Liberty Armed Forces, almost any pilot and commander within the Liberty Navy, LSF, and even some within the Liberty Police have gone through the station's training regimens. After the Gallic war, an expansion project was initiated which actually saw the Academy close for the entire month of January in 827 A.S., the first time in over six centuries, with supporting training taking place on Richmond Military Academy in Virginia. These renovations were completed a few months later, with new intructional wings being completed on the underbelly of the Academy. In addition to these new wings, mooring berths for retired warships were also added, allowing for warship crew in-training to serve aboard a physical model as opposed to a digital model via virtual reality. Following her decommissioning after 82 years of valiant service, the first ship to occupy these new berths was the aging Battleship Mississippi, a welcome sight to station staff and travelers alike. For some who go through warship training at West Point, training aboard the Mississippi has even become a point of pride, defining a new era of post-Gallic war officers and enlisted. Richmond Military Academy Richmond, having formerly served as the primary headquarters of the Liberty Navy, had its role changed as the construction of the Cheyenne Mountain Complex was completed on the surface of Planet Columbia. Today it serves as the Liberty Navy's second Military Academy out in space after West Point in the New York system. With the war against Rheinland slowly approaching its peak however, the need for officers dedicatedly trained to combat a hostile Military rather than bands of outlaws rose quickly and Richmond simply provided most of the necessary facilities required in order to function as a full-scale Military Academy. Thus, while essentially fulfilling the same purpose as West Point, Richmond's training programs are different in that the emphasis here lies on inter-house warfare rather than the combating of piracy and terrorism throughout Liberty, the latter being what West Point's focus has shifted to now. Even though Richmond lacks West Point's long-standing tradition, many of the officers who were trained here have already made a name for themselves on the frontlines, with their successors eagerly absorbing their combat experience in order to follow their shining example. In addition the Navy also maintains other shipyards, research facilities, and orbital logistics facilities, as well as ten battlegroups, that are dispersed throughout the various systems of Liberty. Ordered to maintain permanent guard positions to defend the trade routes of Sirius' economic capital. These are: Battlegroup Alpha, led by the Overlord-class Battleship Alma and currently stationed in California. Battlegroup Bravo, led by the Overlord-class Battleship Concord and currently stationed in [REDACTED]. Battlegroup Charlie, led by the Mitchell-class Battleship Delaware and currently deployed to Vespucci. Battlegroup Delta, led by the Overlord-class Battleship Minneapolis and currently stationed in Virginia. Battlegroup Echo, led by the Mitchell-class Battleship Arkansas and currently stationed in Texas. Battlegroup Foxtrot, led by the Overlord-class Battleship Missouri and currently stationed in New York. Battlegroup Hotel, led by the Atlantis-class Carrier Ohio and currently deployed to Vespucci. Ranks within the fleet ⋆ Fleet Admiral A temporary rank created to serve during wartime. The Fleet Admiral(s) maintain total control of the Liberty Navy's assets and objectives. Seniority is determined by the timing of the appointments. Permitted to fly or command all ships at the Navy's disposal. Current Fleet Admiral: Jason Kazuo 1FLT and Sophia Cleveland 5FLT ⋆ Admiral Originally the leader of the fleet. However with the promotion of Sophia Cleveland to Fleet Admiral, the officer within holding this rank fulfills the roles of second in command. Permitted to fly or command all ships at the Navy's disposal. Current Admiral: Miles Prower ⋆ Vice Admiral Originally the second highest rank. The Vice Admiral holds the honor of being the second in command and is the right hand of the Admiral. The Vice Admiral can fulfill the duties of the Admiral in case he/she is unable to do so. Although their main role being the second in command of the fleet is now fulfilled by the "four star" the rest of their duties which include but are not limited to serving as diplomats and advisers still remain. Permitted to fly or command all ships at the Navy's disposal. Current Vice Admiral: Nazawo Ayato ⋆ Rear Admiral Generally considered junior officers in respect to the High Command, their main duty is to forward the orders from the High Command to the other officers of the fleet. Although not exclusive to their rank generally they are appointed as the heads of the various divisions the fleet has. Can command any ship up to the Carrier class. ⋆ Commodore Reintroduced following the end of the Gallic War, the rank of Commodore is bestowed to officers as an interim position for quality checks to become a member of High Command. They have all the perks of being a Captain, with the menial duties that come with being a Rear Admiral. Can command ships up to Carrier class, with permission from the High Command. ⋆ Captain The highest rank outside the High Command. They are those who have proved themselves on multiple occasions and have proven successful when faced with many situations. Can command ships up to Battleship class. ⋆ Commander The Commanders are one of the most important ranks. Officers wearing this rank are highly respected and are often ordered to direct the operations outside Alaska. Can command ships up to Battlecruiser class. ⋆ Lieutenant Commander The Lieutenant Commanders are responsible for the training of the new applicants. They have proved that they are capable of command and are allowed to command a small task force. They are also responsible for recruiting new officers. Can command any ship up to Cruiser class. ⋆ Lieutenant When an Ensign gets promoted to this rank he receives permission to command a gunboat class vessel along with some of the "BISON" class transports. Their main lore is to transport supplies to Juneau. They can give order to Ensigns but every rank above them can over-rule their decisions. Can command any ship up to Gunboat class. ⋆ Ensign The lowest rank within the fleet. Those recruits have who proved to be worthy get this rank and with it they become a full member of the 5th fleet. Can pilot fighters and bombers. ⋆ Cadet This is a temporary rank given to newly accepted officer candidates. They will be promoted once their skills meet the standards. Note that any officer who holds this rank can still be discharged if they don't meet the standards. Can pilot fighters and bombers. ⋆ Naval Reserve Officer Naval Reserve Officers, as they are designated, are members of the Navy undergoing an extended leave of absence due to illness, family emergency, or other serious matter. They retain the rank and responsibility that they held prior to joining the Reserves, but hold no operational command power until they return to their active duty status. Permitted to fly all ships equivalent to those of their rank at the time of assignment. Technology in Use Strikecraft:
LZF-9805 "Liberator" Light Fighter - The lightest of the strike craft available to Navy pilots, typically used in interdiction and scouting roles. Very little armor and weak primary armament, but high maneuverability and maximum velocity.
BDR-804 "Guardian" Very Heavy Fighter - Typically the most common offering aboard any strike carrier, the Guardian is a staple craft used in almost every squadron within the Navy's ranks, due to its simplicity and effectiveness. Maintains a balance of agility and armament in order to maximize its effectiveness against a variety of targets. BDR-845 "Avenger" Very Heavy Fighter - The big brother of the Guardian. Trades some maneuverability for additional armor and power storage, which allows for the usage of heavier armaments. Tends to go unused in favor of the Guardian, except for certain circumstances. Li-117 "Upholder" Light Bomber - A repurposed variant of the Guardian strike craft, armed with a variety of strike packages depending on mission loadout. Its respectable maneuverability despite its payload allows it to perform hit and run tactics, a favorite among bomber squadrons operating on the Gallic Front. XB-2 "Havoc Mark II" Light Bomber - Recently redesigned by Ageira Technologies, the Havoc Mark II is significant for being the only design currently in use by the Navy that was not built or designed in-house. A limited number of squadrons utilize the Havoc Mark II in cargo interdiction roles, especially used on embargo duty in the Texas system, primarily to strangle the Separatist movement in Bering. Capital Vessels:
Defiant-class Gunboat - A highly maneuverable, compact, and well-armed vessel, the Defiant is the premier picket vessel in use by the Liberty Navy. Its improvement over previous designs, most notably in the development of an anti-capital plasma catapult, allow it to serve a variety of roles - flexibility sorely needed on the Gallic Front.
Archer-class Siege Cruiser - Like most Libertonian designs, the Archer-class is built to be compact, maneuverable, and deliver a heavy blow. To that end, it trades in a majority of its armor and armament for a massively increased power core and a plasma lance, otherwise known as a 'siege cannon'. This highly destructive device can cut ships clean in half, and concentrated fire from a 'wolfpack' of these vessels is enough to tear even a Charlemagne-class battleship to pieces. Interdictor-class Assault Battlecruiser - A heavily armed, heavily armored, yet still maneuverable vessel, the Interdictor is a pinnacle of Libertonian engineering and design. Mounting multiple mid-range ordinance launchers, the Interdictor-class serves as an effective foil to the Archer that precedes it; the former handles heavy capital vessels from afar, and the Interdictor ensures that nothing smaller gets close enough to harm the Archer - a dynamic duo that has served Liberty well. Overlord-class Dreadnought - Were the complete sum of all Libertonian military might condense into a single vessel, it would be the Overlord-class. Mounting three 16' railguns as well as hundreds of secondary and tertiary batteries, the Overlord seeks to completely annihilate the opposition. And despite its heavy armament, as well as its state-of-the-art titanium-carbide reinforced armor plating, it still maintains maneuverability far and above that of its counterparts. A venerable design dating back almost two hundred years, very little has changed - after all, why change perfection? Atlantis-class Assault Carrier - Where the Overlord-class rules in sheer firepower, the Atlantis dominates in combat flexibility. Able to hold four combat-ready wings of strike craft, the Atlantis-class is vital to the Libertonian doctrine of maneuverability and aggression, and with its simply massive quantity of anti-strike craft weaponry dotting both flanks of the hull, our flyboys can rest assured that they'll be coming home safely. Logistics Craft:
EL-HiL27 "Rhino" Freighter - Once used as a diplomatic shuttle and high-value cargo transport, the Rhino has since fallen out of favor with the Navy in favor of the more powerful and well-armored Grizzly. Nevertheless, many smaller Naval facilities utilize the craft as an in-system cargo exchange vehicle.
DL-Hai "Grizzly" Shuttle - Developed as a replacement for the Rhino, the Grizzly serves a myriad of roles within the Navy; due to its armor and agility, it tends to be favorable as a high-value transport vessel and a diplomatic envoy. ESRD operatives have, in the past, utilized the shuttle due to its ability to mount advanced sensor systems. Some Grizzly craft is even held in West Point's docking facilities, to be used as training vessels for new capital vessel crew. EL-HiL51 "Mammoth" Transport - An archaic design dating back centuries, the Mammoth transport in its current form serves as a medium-sized bulk hauler, maintaining enough armor and maneuverability to survive dangerous forays into hostile territory. However, with the advent of the C5 "Bison", the Mammoth has been steadily retired in many Logistics squadrons across Libertonian Space, and may soon find itself completely removed from service. C5 "Bison" Transport - Built to withstand high atmospheric pressures, weapons fire, and system malfunction, the C5 "Bison" is the ultimate in logistics vessels for the Liberty Navy. Primarily used as a troop transport, especially in operations such as "Operation Royal Flush", in which tens of thousands of Marines were flown in and dropped on the surface of Leeds by Bison vessels, it has nonetheless found itself in a variety of roles, including bulk transport, due to its sheer size and defensive capabilities.
