Project Aitos

Ship Type: "Interdictor"-class Assault Battlecruiser
Christened Name: Aitos

Captain: Jeremy Morgan
XO: William Green
Chief Engineer: Chris "Scrapper" Ruiz

Crew Numbers: 350
Height: 20 meters to the top of the fin
Length: 150 meters
Width: 15 meters

Commissioned in 815 A.S. from Norfolk Shipyard, the Aitos was constructed for Deep Reconnaissance Missions, often behind enemy lines. It's main operations areas are deep behind enemy lines, finding their supply paths and troop movements, recording them and sending this information back to the Republic. Fitted with the most advanced scanner systems and communications arrays, the Aitos was able to stay deployed for months at a time until it had to head back home for Supplies and to hand in the given Information, should they be unable to send it back via secured communications.

Captain Jeremy Morgan was a Gunboat Commander with a wing deployed to Colorado and the surrounding independant Worlds. When the Aitos was construced, he was selected from many to be the man to guide this vessel. His knowledge and skill commandeering vessels was a main point to his being appointed.

William Green, XO, was Morgans personal choice. Having worked together before, it was a natural choice to the CO. Their skills added up perfectly, Green being an excellent Navigator, allowing the vessel to pass hostile zones without getting spotted out.

Ruiz had been appointed by Command, knowing for his way of working the Engineering Dept. he was their choice as was Morgan. It took a while for the Crew to work together as was intendend, almost one year after commissioning, after trials had finally ended, Results were finally at an acceptable level for active duty.

822 A.S.

The Aitos is deployed to the Leeds front, tasked with finding Gallic Supply Lines which might not be known yet or which had previously been shut down and reactivated. Though the Aitos' mission threw it into a heated Warzone, and into the middle of the fight for Leeds, giving it's mission an unexpected turn and a surprising outcome.

Leeds System

It was their mission to find and observe Gallic supply lines. The Battle of Leeds was quickly closing in and these lines needed to be disrupted beforehand, finding them was the Aitos' Mission. They had already found multiple transports bringing supplies to the Oubli and Leeds, but nothing that looked like a real line, nothing major. Did the Gauls even know what was coming to them? It did not seem though. The entire southern Leeds Sector was like dead, few patrols, even fewer suppliers. Had they all went around the Aitos and come from the north to Supply the Oubli for the coming Battle, or did they just not know to prepare?

The Aitos had been roaming for days before any contact was made and it was scarce, but it was not much really, it was their main focus by this point to prepare for the coming attack, and to try to assist to the best of their abilities, that was all they could do. They had interrupted gallic supplies to an extent they were certain it had to have some outcome on the people on Oubli, that their work would be regarded and noticed by the main fleet.

The raid was scheduled for the next day, all that was left now was to wait and rest.

Leeds System

"Incoming Torpedo“ echoed through the Command and Control center over and over again, not stopping for a moment as if performing it's own part in a symphony of sounds on the command deck. It was the height of the Battle for Leeds and the Aitos was right in the middle of it all with the assault force. However the Aitos had already taken significant damage from an enemy bomber wing that constantly was hounding their every movement. The vessel was drifting off from the main scene of the Battle towards the southern smog clouds that was a dominant part of the system, hoping to lose their persistant foes which was currently on their their tail like a pack of bloodhounds.

Captain, Scrapper here, we’ve lost Engines One, Three and Four."a voice sounded from the Comm Station as Ruiz listened over the shoulder of the operator "I repeat, we’re down to one! We’ve got hull breaches in Sectors F5 and C3. We’re working on them now” With those words, Ruiz left the Comms Station and turned to his combat-weary crew
"All repair crews report in, we got breaches in multiple fires in Sectors F5 and C3 in sealed sections in addition to hull breaches that need to be sealed!" he barked harshly to keep their focus on him rather than the state of the bridge. "Get into Pressure Suits and get those breaches sealed and those fires contained if we want to get out of this mess intact,on the double!
"

Morgan was standing on the bridge, staring out to the thick orange clouds before him, everyone around was rushed, it was as if they were in slow motion to his eyes as he simply stared onwards. It was an eerie moment when the vessel dove into the Smog Clouds, the Sensor Array Operator called out that the Gallic Bomber wing was turning off and no-longer chasing their ship. A gift? Or a miracle? He didn’t know, though it was a pleasant piece of news.

Helm, reduce thrust to minimal speed and get all available troops who are currently not Injured or occupied with bridge duty to aid in repairs and upkeep. We need to patch her up enough to get back to Liberty space intact.
Morgan spoke confidently to the men and women arrayed before him, however he just couldn’t shake the feeling that their troubles weren’t over just yet and that there was something else out there. He just had to wait for the 'other shoe' to drop.
