Commonwealth of House Liberty | Declaration of Independence - Commonwealth of House Liberty - 06-23-2015 To: Sirius Sector, CC Gallia From: President Isaac Stone, Commonwealth of House Liberty, Vespucci system People of Liberty and the independent worlds, there is a bit of history I would like to share with you today. 22 years ago, there was a rebellion. An ideological rebellion as well as a physical one. A rebellion vested in the belief that Liberty was a shadow of its former self, and no longer lived up to the laws, ideals, and promises of its founding when the sleeper ship first made planetfall on Manhattan. These men and women following Drake Thastus into the independent worlds declared themselves the Hellfire Legion, and vowed to overthrow Liberty's faltering government, and replace its crumbling and inept navy, bring justice to its corrupt corporate police force, and crush its invasive and nigh autonomous intelligence agency. In twenty years these men and women fought, learned, grew, and adapted to their new cause. It is clear that without a shadow of a doubt that theirs is not a struggle that will be won overnight. As more people flocked to their cause, as soldiers grew old and children were born, from a simple rebellion, a nation and its military was formed. From fire and brimstone we rose as a calm within the storm of war, suffering, and injustice in Sirius. Our home within the flames. The Commonwealth of House Liberty. Henceforth and forevermore, on this day, June 22nd of 822 A.S, the Commonwealth of House Liberty hereby declares independence from all other Houses, and sovereignty over the systems of Vespucci, Humboldt, Kansas, and Magellan. Although we remain a nation at war, locked in a tumultuous and sorrowful struggle with the husk of a nation with the audacity to still cling fruitlessly to the name of Liberty, we welcome with open arms the innocent, the wronged, the downtrodden. We welcome our friends from Bretonia, fleeing their homes against a tyrant not entirely dissimiliar to the one we face ourselves. We welcome all those who would see House Liberty as it was meant to be; a House of the people, for the people, and by the people. Those wishing to know more about the Commonwealth and what we stand for can do so here, to learn the ideals of our nation truthfully and clearly, and apply for citizenship and construction rights within our borders. I look forward to a brighter future for the both the Commonwealth and Sirius itself, and though our struggles are great and many, there is not a single doubt in my mind that in time, together, there is nothing we cannot overcome.
