Alexander Swift - swift - 10-18-2008 This is a story of aspirations, of dreams, of youth that is forced to grow up prematurely. By this humble beginning, a great saga begins. A story of a young man, that stared into the eyes of death long before anyone should. Prepare to embark on an incredible journey filled with danger, intrigue and adventure. First let me start off by telling you some of his history, if you deem it important. Alexander Swift, son of Michael and Christine, used to live in a rather small city called Croatia, which was located on one of the colonies in the Crayter sector, and had quite a future ahead of him. Although he was only 7, he already knew what he wanted to become - an Ergos pilot, just like his father. He had always fantasized about flying that magnificent ship and spraying his bullets into the enemies of The Fleet, the pirates, the scum of the earth. But unfortunately, on one fateful day, it happened! The cosmic catastrophe that wrecked all that the settlers had built. Little Alexander was just playing with a toy viper in his room, when his father ran in there, and quickly grabbed him. He had no time to explain what was happening, he just took him to one of the transports that were taking off from the nearby ground-to-orbit port. He and Alexander's mother were talking, and were both excited and scared. They explained to their little son, that he was in danger. His father said with his soft and loving voice: "Son, don't be scared. It is all going to be okay. We're taking you somewhere safe." "Will you come with me, daddy? Will you?" "No son, I'm afraid your mother and me won't be able to be with you. But we WILL catch up with you. Don't you worry. And remember son..always remember..your mother and I love you more than anything. Don't you ever forget that, ever. And in case something bad does happen, I ask of you only one thing: Be an honest man. Save your anger for your enemies, and your love and compassion for your friends." He took him from the vehicle into the ship, and he and Christine kissed and hugged their son, hoping that they would see him again." Apparently, his father had somehow managed to get him a ticket on the sleeper ship that was departing the colonies into the unknown, he gave his son the greatest gift of all. He gave him a ticket to a life anew, before his old one even started. However, nothing was heard of them later, and they were presumed dead. Little Alexander still hoped they would magically appear though. He was too young to understand the concept of death, and this event scarred him for life. And there you have it, although his whole family died, he avoided his deadly fate in one of the rescue ships. Alexander Swift - swift - 11-22-2008 Our hero now had some more years in him. He was already 23. And, with the fact that he never forgot his parents' dire fate, and with a vicious anger and lust for revenge in his heart, he began his Eros fighter training as a nugget. The Colonial Fleet was still unaware of the many secrets and dangers of the Sirius Sector, and that lead to a surprising turn of events. Although he was but a novice pilot, the fleet could not spare any fighting forces in their many battles. And so, despite this fact, he too fought in the battles. In one particular battle fighting for Planetform, for whom the Colonials had been serving as a security force at the time, his ship got badly damaged and drifted into space... Oxygen was slowly decreasing, and almost ran out. He panicked, banged on the sides of his cockpit, desperate to escape, but had no place to escape to. Finally, because of oxygen deprivation, he lost consciousness. Young Alexander was sitting still strapped and in his flight suit, but was not aware of the events around him. After the fight, when casualties were being counted, he was nowhere to be found. The rest of the fleet presumed him to be dead, declared him M.I.A., and went on their way after the battle... Alexander Swift - swift - 11-23-2008 But alas, salvation came. His beyond repair ship was found by an advanced train owned by a trader whose name he cannot recollect. He found him, unconscious, with life almost extinguished in him. Because he had no other place to go, and knew nothing of the wherabouts of the rest of the colonials, who had allegedly gone somewhere else after the breach of the Planetform contract, which happened the very day of his accident in the battle, he served on that transport for 6 whole years. In that kind of time, his piloting skills became somewhat rusty. But one day, in a bar on Kyushu, he again heard of his Colonial Brothers, who now called their faction the Colonial Remnant, and had stationed themselves somewhere in the taus, and their Colonial Reunion movement, as the recruitment group was called. He immediately reported to those people and requested to be rejoined with The Colonial Fleet. Of course, the Fleet accepted him immediately, happy to learn that a pilot of theirs didn't after all die in the aforementioned battle. And like that, Mr. Swift finally realized his dream of becoming a viper pilot, a full fledged one, and this time, unlike the one when they were traveling constantly, with proper training, equipment and above all else, a warm home at Minato Harbor.. However, this was just a beginning, and many adventures would follow.. Alexander Swift - swift - 11-23-2008 After his reunion with the fleet, he was granted the rank of ensign once more, and given a Nyx space superiority fighter with a basic setup. It was so much different than his old Eros, and the feeling was different as well. Advanced shield technology, state of the art IMG weapons, it had it all. His most prized piece of hardware was the Mini Razor, mainly because of his admiration for the way it could simply shred any fighter left shieldless to little bits, and it was almost as if it said: "Enemies beware, cower and flee, or die upon my wrath." At least that is what was passing through his mind. Although he was happy with this, he still gazed jealously at the weapons of the higher ranked officers. He was prepared to work harder than ever, and couldn't wait to earn a promotion, and to show everyone just how good he is - or how good he thought he was. But, he was still considered a pilot in training, although he did have previous combat experience. It is true, however, that because of the extensive changes of the ship, many of the things he knew(although he did forget a lot during his absence) simply did not apply anymore. And so his, re-training if you will, began. He spent countless hours on the simulator and in space. His flight instructor bothered him with various lessons and practices, but Alexander did not mind. He was eager to learn and improve, for it was the difference between life and death in Sirius. Alexander Swift - swift - 11-23-2008 After months of rigorous training, he was assigned to his first mission, effectively given the chance to prove himself. He, along with several Nyxes of his superior officers and 2 magnificent Zephyr Carriers, went on an attack mission against the Outcast pirates in Sigma-13.. But, the asteroid fields in the systems before Sigma13 were packed with enemies, and that slowed the mission significantly. When they were at the jumphole, all ships jumped, only the Rubicon was caught up with by 3 Outcast destroyers, and unfortunately stuck in the asteroids. The destroyers pounded on the battlestar mercilessly, but the young ensign was determined on freeing it from it's shackles and impending doom. He fired everything he had all over the asteroids, and was pretty close to freeing the Rubicon, but it got severely crippled because of the overwhelming force of three capital ships. The rest of the fleet, also crippled by another attack in sigma 13, began their retreat. Had they been together they might have even won, but separated they stood no chance. So the retreat was sounded. Once they jumped back, they found the aforementioned situation, and opened fire on the destroyers. The Outcasts had to stop firing at the Rubicon because of the new danger. 2 of the destroyers got blown up and the third retreated. However, in the meantime 3 bombers were trying to destroy the Zephyrs, whose turrets were not fast enough to destroy them. The ensign turned on the bombers and prevented them from firing their deadly supernova torpedoes at the Zephyrs. He fought them bravely and mercilessly, and eventually destroyed 2 but got severely damaged. His fin was burning and almost fell off, but he managed to dock somewhat violently in the Nyx docking bay. And so, a partial victory had still been achieved. With 2 caps destroyed, one crippled, and 2 bombers down the Outcasts retreated. The attack group headed back home, severely damaged but still in one piece. Back at Tau-44, in the Rubicon lounge, Ensign Swift was congratulated for his brave and heroic conduct in the battle, and had free drinks all night. One of his viper colleagues suggested a callsign for him. It was Flamewing, because of his near death in the battle, his burning fin in particular. And from that point on, he was known as ensign Flamewing of the Colonial Remnant. Alexander Swift - swift - 11-23-2008 And tomorrow on roll-call he got a nice surprise. He was, after a good speech by his commanding officer, promoted to Liutenant Junior Grade. He swelled with pride while the officer pinned his new signs of rank on his uniform. He was so glad to have finally been recognized for his hard work. Plus, this meant he was a full fledged pilot now, not a semi-trainee anymore. He immediately started to think about the weapons he would get for his ship.. He decided on GUARDIAN-s and Tizonas, and was very excited to try them out in combat, and if possible shoot some enemies down with them. He was so excited. When no one was listening he just kept repeating in whispers, "LTJG Flamewing, LTJG Flamewing"..It had quite a nice ring to it. He was determined to make it known among his allies, and even more among his enemies.. Alexander Swift - swift - 11-29-2008 *Incoming file* *File name: Journal entry number 07 * I was scowering through Tau-23 for possible enemies, when I noticed a smuggler in the system. He wasn't hauling anything at the time, because he was returning from a trade, but he admitted to have been trafficking cardamine. However, I did not kill him because I had no tangible proof. But the "party" was just beginning. A CCS Outcast appeared to try and force me out of the system, with him was one more Outcast pilot whose name I will not mention again, out of respect for his noble death. I told the smuggler to leave, and I would destroy him and his cargo if he ever dares traffic cardi through the system. The outcasts did not take too kindly to me preventing them from getting their dirty cardamine money. They responded in a hostile manner, and they engaged me. The first one, the leader, was taken down quickly, in a matter of 1 minute, he didn't even get a chance to run for his life after he learned he was about to die by my hand. He tried to mine me right in the end, but I shot his mine down before it could reach me, and ironically enough, it finished off the little hull he had left. But the other one was a little harder to crack, his Light Fighter was hard to catch up with in the asteroid field of 23, but I attacked and attacked for 40 seconds, until he spent all his bots and batts. I then proceeded to disable his shield, after that a quarter of his hull, and in a joust sent one of my mines flying on him. He stood no chance. Two targets were down. I then proceeded to return to Minato Harbor, as there were no more hostiles there. As I was approaching the Tau-44 jumphole, =CR=Frayer and =CR=Gold-2 entered the system, and informed me they have spotted yet another outcast whose name I cannot recall. I do know he was flying a sabre though. They engaged him, while I was catching up. When I caught up he still wasn't damaged, even a little. He was dodging like crazy, but still was not too hard a target for me, for us. We all fired on him, but it was hard for us to get at his hull.. The minute we would hurt him a little, he used regens. But in one run on him, I managed to disable his shield and slip a mine in front of him. He had no chance of avoiding it. BOOM! 3rd target down, and we returned to Minato for some R'n'R. It seems I am beginning to make a name for myself out there. Soon they shall all tremble at the mention of my name, and before all of the Colonials as well. *end of line* *exiting journal program, ciphering entries*
Alexander Swift - swift - 12-09-2008 *Incoming file* *File name: Journal entry number 08* In my recent patrols, I have noticed highly increased Outcast activites in Tau-23. It is my belief that the Cali Combat Squadron is starting to get more and more organized, and I fear that they might become a threat to us, being so close to our home. I have decided to increase the strength and frequency of our patrols. Although it is my point of view that their light fighters, which most of them have, pose little threat to a colonial viper pilot, because of his skill, and his superior equipment. But it seems the vermin are gaining numbers, and I feel that it has to be stopped at all costs, before the cancer that is the Outcasts can spread it's corrupt influence throughout Tau-23.. If they gain enough strength, they might become so bold as to attack Java. This has to be prevented, while they are still disrupted by our occasional attacks on their cardamine supply lines, and their capital ship fleets, who lack decent protection. I will report here soon again.. *end of line* *exiting journal program, ciphering entries*
Alexander Swift - swift - 12-09-2008 *Incoming file* *File name: Journal entry number 10* After my thoughts earlier today, I have decided to initiate a stronger patrol pattern in Tau-23.. I have went there, alone, with an objective to estimate the enemy forces, and engage if odds are favourable. I first started my first patrol waypoint to Java station, where I encountered a still intact CR defense system, and no enemies. I then proceeded on the part of the patrol that goes dangerously close to the outcast base known as Cali, which is the most active area in that system. There, I encountered only 3 light fighters, it seemed that the rest of their fleet was on a mission somewhere else, for they would have surely launched a stronger fighter defense force. The light fighters warned me to stay away, but I could feel the subtle note of fear in their voices over the comms. I decided to, despite being outnumbered, albeit with weaker ships, attack them. I quickly proceeded with my standard attack pattern, concentrating on just one target. The first one was taken down quickly, with a decisive salvo of my Dark Blossoms, after disabling his shield with but a few shots out of my shieldbusters. He was torn like tissue paper. The other two posed a bigger threat, for they seemed to be better trained than the first one, who was probably just a rookie, unaware of what he was getting himself into, making an enemy of the Colonial Remnant. I disabled both their shields, and I decided to play with my prey a little. I got them to joust at me from two different sides, and let them hurt my ship a little, just to make it more plausible. I deliberately missed their ships, so they would continue their joust. And when they got very close to me, and when I realized they would turn, I ejected one of my nuke mines. It provided good service for the price I paid for it.. Their hull was no match for it's blast. Luckily though, I still had some of my shield power left, so my hull was not damaged. All in all, it was a good day, and I struck somewhat of a blow on their force. While I was returning to Tau-44, I laughed uncontrollably, imagining the faces of their ships who would return to Cali, only to find the wreckage of their somewhat small sized defense task force.. Some ambrosia will wet my throat just right, killing makes you thirsty I guess.. *end of line* *exiting journal program, ciphering entries*
Alexander Swift - swift - 12-14-2008 It has not been so long since he rejoined Colonials, but alas, to him, it seemed to have been an eternity of a mindless struggle, a war to which he saw no end, and that was tiring him. But he knew he had to press on, otherwise the consequences would be indeed dire. He had no doubt that it pressed the hearts and minds of his enemies as well, and if they were strong enough to keep going, how could he not do the same? And so, although tired of it all, and with the ever-present possibility of death looming above him, he went on about his work. He had been in so many battles, it has hardened him to a degree in which he no longer felt the emotions a normal human does. He was but a shell of a man he had been before. He was now but a machine of revenge, only reserving his prized emotions for his friends and allies, not allowing anger to interfere with his decisions in battle. When he went into battle, he was calm, serene, at peace. It gave him comfort over his usually empty life. What was there to do anyways, he wouldn't mine that's for sure. This was both his only source of income, and also a purpose in life, to defend what he thought was right. To stand up for those who couldn't defend themselves. |
