System editing problems - Cobalt_Raven - 10-22-2008
Hail my brothers and sisters,
I always wanted to make my own systems for freelancer, so I'm learning how to that lol.
I use FLE but I find it hard to work with that program. Can someone point me to a good tutorial, how to get started with that program. Making the system from the very beginning.
Also I started fooling around with the program and I made a small system with a nice purple sun and was trying to make an asteroid field. In the centre I wanted to place a planet with rings. It looked simple enough but when I made the asteroid field and placed the planet with rings inside the asteroid field I also placed an exclusion zone around the planet. I thought everything was ok, but when I turned on the mod and flew to the planet there were all sorts of problems. The asteroids where in the planet and the rings where next to the planet not around it lol.
Can someone help me out I'm still an N00b in system editing, but I've got plenty of nice system designs in mind and I'm willing to learn. Please help :(

Hiya Cobalt,
I suggest you start by downloading the Freelancer edit pack. Its got most of the tools you need.
Then there's a Freelancer modding FAQ. It aint great, but it got me started. There several sections; the bit about system building is about 1/3 way down (but it's all interesting).
Other than that, hit Lancers Reactor (which is up again but you need to register to download anything).
Oh yes... have a look at this too.
