Los Angeles Channel 45 News Excerpt - Wolfgang Weisen - 08-06-2015

(...) while the irresponsible father allowing his son to manually pilot the family's air vehicle and crushed it on a skyscraper in Beachwood Canyon District, Section 4 of Planet Los Angeles.

This gruesome accident instantly killed both the father and the son, thankfully the mother the two daughters had exited the vehicle a few minutes earlier. The physical damage on the structures was minimal and no other casualties were reported.

This was the ninth similar accident this year for Los Angeles and the local LPI department has released a statement urging the drivers to not manually pilot their vessels unless the vehicle's computer has been damaged.

In other news, we have an exclusive report about an important skirmish in the Border Worlds that happened a few weeks ago. Freelance reporter John McMurfy was around Barrier Gate where all this happened. Mr McMurfy, what happened?

Hello Susan, you are correct. I was about to dock at Barrier when a full wing of the Kusari Exiles appeared in my scanners heading straight to Baffin. I hailed them but they seemed to be in a hurry. This is when they intercepted the smugglers.

Smugglers? Who were they?

Two large transports, popularly known as "Pirate Trains" which belonged to the Lane Hackers and the Liberty Rogues. They didn't have any escorts with them, probably they didn't expect someone to know they were coming.

And what did the Exiles do? We have heard several reports the past years about their raids against the Gallic Navy and Kusari Republic.

The transports were carrying cardamine and engaged them on sight. The fight would have ended quickly in favor of the Kusarians if not for a wing of Liberty Rogues coming to the transports' aid and shortly afterwards a duo of Lane Hacker operatives.

How did they come so quickly Mr McMurfy? Do they have a base of operations there?

Quite presumably. Unless they were lucky enough to venture nearby. Barrier Gate is home to a contingent of Liberty Rogues and Lane Hackers, but they don't use the station as a base of operations. Fortunately the criminals ignored my presence which allowed me to take a few pictures. The fight was bloody and intense, fortunately I escaped before my life was threatened so I don't know its outcome. However I know that both transports survived the encounter and I am fairly confident that their cargo has already reached Liberty's black market...

We have covered the black market problem in a recent interview Mr McMurfy, thank you very much for your detailed and exclusive report! Dear viewers, as always, you can find more details and videos of this skirmish in our neuralnet page.

My pleasure, Susan.

Our best analysts estimate that the wars have allowed the criminal organizations of western Liberty to expand unchecked but they are confident that this is not an important issue as long as the criminals operate in the distant Coronado system instead of terrorizing and pirating civilians inside Liberty.
