OORP Ships? - Alistev - 10-24-2008 OK so just how extreme do things have to get before it is considered OORP. two examples from Sig-13 tonight 2 corsairs Order Osiris Ravens Talon 1 Lane Hacker Blood dragon gun boat. Not so much trying to raise a fuss as understand what is and is not acceptable. OORP Ships? - Tenacity - 10-24-2008 The order "sold" the osiris plans to the Corsairs when our alliance was made, so it isnt OORP at all for them to use the osiris... but they should more often use their own corsair dreadnaught. The Raven's talon is an IMG-produced ship but it is sold on the black market and is reknowned for being a 'pirate' fighter. Corsairs are ok using it, especially since they're on fairly good terms with the IMG. The lane hacker was, by the rules, 'ok' using a dragon gunboat since the two factions are allied... but he really should have gone with a lane hacker gunship. At any rate... if your own faction has a ship of a specific type that you're aiming for (fighter, bomber, cruiser, gunboat, battleship, etc.) you should use it over ships from your allies. OORP Ships? - Walker - 10-24-2008 On a side note unless he was there picking up said Gunboat I wouldn't think he should hang at Sig-13... Role play is defined by the guy (or gal) with the most powerful ship and most powerful weapons ... or the guy with the most friends to help destroy you. If you wanna role play a certain way ... hopefully they accept you. If not ... prepare to experience the vacuum of space. Bottom line. If you cannot win in PVP ... those who can win will determine whether you are INRP or OORP. OORP Ships? - chovynz - 10-25-2008 Although it's not worth getting into, I highly object to that Baltar. Stop saying that kind of thing to new people. It is simply not true. Those are borderline examples Alistev. It would be better for them to have used their own ships, but it wasn't out of RP. A Corsair using OC ship/weps IS out of line and is sanctionable. Hacker, I'm not sure what would be out of the accepted RP for disco since as far as I can understand they can hack near everything technological. Well sure... you could name some examples that bypass that rule to a certain extent. But i think its very much true to most of players. And why should we keep the "new guys" in the dark just because its a bad thing? We are helping them "survive the embarrassment" they will later face then their RP gets bashed by established bunch of players that lost an objective perspective and only care about their own. Yeah...i know this is starting to be a indy/faction flame so ill stop here. Just want everyone to know that s*it happens, get over it or don't play here. There are other great communities like this, no hard feelings but sometimes it takes lots of time to be accepted. OORP Ships? - chovynz - 10-25-2008 It is not true that the guy with the biggest gun or ship or the most buddies dictates what acceptable RP is on Disco. Thats just plain propaganda and it is a generalised lie. THINK before you state that. (And this is why I mistake the both of you, as well as the similarities in your name, both of you support things that I strongly disagree on.) What makes good RP is if you work within the server rules, within the framework of what the NPC's do. Doesnt matter what ship you have, how many times you die (which can also be a part of the RP), what colour your hair is. Saying that the RP is dictated by "The biggest guns, ships, friends" is horse hocky and is narrowminded about what RP is. Even after all this time, I'm disappointed that you guys still dont get it. So a player who has a Rheinland Battleship, roleplays it impeccably (responding to messages in the persona of various crewmembers etc.), and only uses it in PvP when there is an equivalent force on the other side, won't be ganked by the RM for using 'their' ship? |
