You can only participate in military operations, fulfill bounties, hunt pirates, and escort traders (not trade yourself). Trading most likely is allowed on a minor scale... Smuggling i doubt, Freelancer ID is the more lawful, a mercenary ID for smuggling would be more apt. Seems if there is no smuggler ID that would mean you would have to have a Junker or pirate ID to smuggle. As far as the trading aspect of the game is concerned - you're a freelancer. I've gone through the stage with my freelancer character where he had an assortment of smaller craft (different fighters), an armored transport, a Firefly for the longest time, and now he runs around in an Orca doing pretty much whatever the hell he wants to - haul cargo, escort ships, explore the galaxy. As long as he makes payroll for his crew - and I RP him as a freelancer - then who cares what I do? And btw, I have, upon occassion, shipped a cargo that's been less than legal or two using this ID. It's not my main occupation - if you're PRIMARILY engaged in smuggling, then you should have a smuggler ID. Since freelancers, by the nature of their way of life, can find themselves out in the boonies, sometimes hauling a load of artifacts or synthetic marijuana is the only way to pay the bills. I live by my code of ethics - won't touch cardi or slaves, and mostly I do legal stuff. Carrying contraband is not a server rules issue unless the ID specifically prohibits carrying contraband. If you can trade in legal goods then you can smuggle contraband. The only thing to watch out for are the cops. And that ship per ID list is not officially endorsed, yet. Freelancer ID now and in 4.85 - hack - 10-26-2008 Sounds good to me...... |
