Basic Model Submission Guidelines - Teerin - 11-24-2015 "What do you look for when determining how good a ship model is?" "Why did my model get rejected? How can I fix it to make it better?" Below are basic model content guidelines. When making models, adhere to these to the best of your ability, and it will be more likely that your model gets approved for implementation. Model Quality Standards and Guidelines - Shapes to avoid: overly simple brick, flying doughnut - Avoid excessive amounts of fins, wings, and antennae - Keep a reasonable polycount for your model (see below) - Keep a consistent level (big, medium, small) of detail across the model - Leave small level details in large ships to the textures - Ships must match their shipline (similar details, shape, architecture) - Ships must match their class (similar size, polycount, number of hardpoints) Ballpark Polycount Numbers - Fighters (LF, HF, VHF, SHF), Bombers, & Freighters (≤ 650 cargo): ~2,000 to ~3,000 polygons - Transports, Liners, & Gunboats: ~3,000 to ~5,000 polygons - Destroyers, Cruisers, Battlecruisers: ~5,000 to ~8,000 polygons - Battleships, Dreadnoughts, Carriers: ~8,000 to ~12,000 polygons |
