Rise Of The Warhammer - Exploration - 12-20-2015 Rise of the ANC Warhammer - This time it's personal.. //Invited parties may post here. Background: The prefix for the project back when the Admiral of the 41st task force existed was "ANC". This initially meant "Antimatter Naval Core", a new design. However unknown to the Navy at present the Admiral is still very much in existence, having lived for years under various aliases that all but his closest of friends never knew about. The Phoenix was a one of a kind experimental design based around an AI with various parts of Nomadic technology - that human engineers had figured out to this point combined. However these componants were later removed years later as it had been noticed the crew had been acting strange to say the least. This was then powered by an array of antimatter production systems that worked like an Antimatter Cannon, but in reverse order. However the design since it's day of creation was temperamental and despite improvements when the vessel was used to assist the Order, it was always bound to go wrong eventually. The ship since 821A.S had been roaming the Omicrons un-manned, with the exception of the AI and the offensive plus defensive systems augmented to support the automated operation of a computer. Prologue: Omicron Minor, two days before present (20/12/822 A.S) The Battleship Phoenix, or as she was notoriously nicknamed these days, 'Nixie' was currently positioned within Omicron Minor. The AI's biological form which her creator had made for her was as usual allowing the rather strange creation to walk around like a living-breathing thing. Unfortunately this did not reflect on the host-ship, code-named, "001 Phoenix", status. The vessel had suffered a turbine failure which prevented the ship to use antimatter as it's primary fuel source. Thus without propulsion the ship was left there floating helplessly with only it's basic life support systems functioning. And Nixie, the AI of course who was pacing about the bridge calculating anything she could do to rectify the problem. These all came back with no positive outcomes. However today, was a day where the man behind her creation was sat in the bridge reading his book in a calm manner, these situations weren't new to him at all. Leam Williamson was his name these days. Having married twice since he was in the Navy, was hopeful to meet a contact who could see about replacing Nixie's outer shell with something more modern and practical. The AI was kicking herself as she had felt she had failed him, however in his eyes Nixie had been nothing but a success and he was proud beyond words at what she had achieved. Almost treated Nixie like a daughter, since really, she was part of the family by now. "Nixie just relax. I know exactly how you feel but we've been in situations like this before. There really is no need to sit and panic, go read some literature or something. Improve your already massive knowledge of things" he chuckled briefly before looking down at his reading material once again. Nixie turned, the AI's form had long blonde hair and was dressed like a typical 19 year old girl. Who would have thought, an AI looking like 'that' could cause mass destruction. "Relax!? are you completely insane!?" Nixie screamed at the top of her voice, clearly upset and anxious her host ship, home and the history behind it was hanging in the balance. "Look.." Her creator said calmly "You knew this day would eventually come, and the only reason i'm seeing about getting you a new ship to play with is because to me, and everyone else lives you've touched, you are more than an AI." His tone was soft, which was very unusual for the man who once had the title of going about slaughtering enemies of Liberty at will. Even some assorted Navy ships went down upon his escape. There was a short pause before he continued "Besides. I feel you could really help out Liberty in the war right now, i already know you've been roaming around with your smaller craft. The Gallics are setting about breaking down the door of my old home and i'm really not too happy about that." He sighed, like a man who had lost his ambitions early on in life. "You are a friend, a daughter and also a very powerful weapon. Remember that." He said, looking at her deliberately so she caught his gaze "I...understand.." Nixie said quietly. She was clearly touched by his words, going red in the face. He had really done this biological form down to the last detail. She was practically human at this point. "Besides.." he said, with a happier tone "It's Christmas soon, no?" He laughed, Nixie soon joined in giggling away to herself. "Best way to start off the year is with a brand new war machine ?!" She squeaked with excitement. Clearly Nixie had cheered up since the initial problem that had occurred and now was thinking to her new ship, needless to say she had her own wishes and desires by this point having been handed the idea.. Bethlehem Station, Pennslyvania, Liberty Space. One day before present (20/12/2015 A.S) Nixie and her creator had been sitting in the bar on Bethlehem station for some time now. The Phoenix hull lay a wreck on Omicron Minor after eventually drifting into a large asteroid, breaching the hull. Nixie however was in high spirits, luckily for her, she could sustain herself for two weeks without contact from a host vessel. Her skin was designed to absorb energy from light sources and being part AI, she could convert that to usable energy. But only for two weeks. Eventually her power draw would overtake what energy she could create thus draining her own power storage. This was something Leam had intended to fix once she had a new host vessel - it was his secret though. A Christmas present as it were. This would make her completely self-sustaining, something that had taken him years with the help of his contacts to make it possible. They both sat there waiting for his contact to arrive, not that their emergency launch had any more fuel left in it to travel any further. They were stuck there for the time being, but Nixie seemed to like it as she gazed at the stars. Her creator had given her the gift of vision and to her it was more valuable than anything in the world.. |
