Liberty gets its share of strange visitors, from outcasts to GC radicals, to less uncommon sorts like Rheinland smugglers and scrap collectors. However sometimes it attracts a different sort of migrant, out of this world!!

Our reporter found this vessel sneaking around Norfolk Shipyard in the old New York system, and it was understood the reason for it's elusive behaviour, when Liberty Navy detachments began arriving at the area and chasing the poor creature to the scrapyard, under a hail of plasma shots.

The poor alien entity was brutally shot down by the Liberty forces, under their regular protocols. Word from the Liberty Senate is that the Alien Preservation and Protection Act has been voted down again by the majority, delaying any possibilities that these poor visitors ever be brought under protection of Liberty Law.

On this day, the notorious group Sirius Coalition made a demonstration in New York, bringing the Liberty Navy to high alert and forcing the deployment of several wings of fighters.

Engagements were made all over New York System, as the so called terrorist cell spread its agents through key points of the tradelane network, in order to disestablish the Liberty defenses. Fortunately for the citizens of Liberty, the Navy had just the right amount of pilots on the air to chase all of them simultaneously, and eventually destroyed the Coalition loudspeakers.

It was interesting to note the use of Bretonian designed vessels in service of the Liberty Navy, as well of the terrorists "leave ship on auto pilot while we retreat in escape pods". Clever terrorism as we never seen it before.

The Sirius Coalition, reportedly based in the Omega region, is an organization that promotes revolution movements Sirius wide, and is considered illegal by all House agencies. It's activities in Kusari are considered inexistent, certainly due to the diligent watch of the KSP and citizen watch organizations like the Hogosha and Farmers Alliance.

San Diego Border station in the California system was busier than usual, as Liberty Navy forces gathered in preparation for operations in the contested Magellan system. A few years ago Liberty Navy unilaterally moved on to occupy the historical installations of Freeport 4, so as to keep them out of the hands of the so mentioned "enemies of all Sirius", the Kingdom of Gallia. It has seem that their decision has given fruit, and now they are called almost weekly to defend the Freeport space from incursions of the Gallic Royal Navy.

As the forces gathered in San Diego, we began to inquire regarding the nature of the operation, and what was the danger to civilians still in Magellan and the settlements in California. The Liberty Navy officers declined to comment extensively on the matter, citing "classified" and "can't say to civilians" excuses, and some even threatened with apprehension of journalistic material, in a balant disregard to protections to free speech and the right to information by the public.
Although without comments, it was apparent to our news team that the officers were confident in keeping the Gallic forces out of Liberty, even if it was at the expense of the residents of Bretonia or of the Freeport 4.

The Liberty Navy force moved at its appointed time to the Magellan system. As part of our duty, we discreetly followed their tracks from a safe distance into the battlefield.
It seems that the NAvy concerns to keep us out of the system for being "civilians" were not honest, as they saw no harm in having bretonian Bowex pilots dash into the harm's way and get slaughtered by the Gallic forces alongside the Navy forces and few Bretonian police regulars.

The fight began with a head to head engagement between the Libertonian and Gallic forces, with some surprise ambushes giving the initial advantage to the Liberty Navy side.

There was also some time for personal feuds and battlefield raiders, as we caught this dishonourable junker taking out a bretonian policeman while he was under constant fire.

As the battle reached its highest point, report of impending ion storms began pouring in. Our news staff decided to retreat to Liberty space to avoid necessary losses of material.

The outcome of the battle has not been reported by Liberty media, but our sources indicate that several billions of Liberty taxpayer money were lost in the duration of the conflict, adding to the already colossal losses of resources and men that the Liberty Navy has faced in it's now many years long wars against Gallia and Rheinland.

The Gaian movement has been regarded by many as the leading organization devoted to Wildlife preservation in Sirius. While outlawed in their homeland Bretonia, their researchers and spokepersons are found many times giving lectures and demonstration seminars on all other houses, covering topics such as ecosystem preservation, corporate responsibility and disaster management, and pet grooming courses.

But the Gaian movement is not made of words alone, and members of this organization still take the action to the field, conducting surveys on Planet Gaia and other natural beauties that still remain in Bretonia, that haven't been tainted by the imperialistic war machine of the Bretonian Crown.

We took some time to accompany field researcher Amber Meadows on her doctor's visit to the pristine planet, and saw first hand the Gaian non-invasive monitoring procedures of the planet status.

Dr. Amber was concerned that increased Gallic Navy patrols and presence might have caused unwanted effects on Gaia upper atmosphere, but expressed relief as the results of her survey came out good on all marks.

On this day Bretonian Armed Forces were nowhere in sight as the Gallic Royal Navy sent a large battle group to strike military vulnerable installations in several places inside Bretonian space.

Although no sources close to us were available to confirm it, reports of GRN forces striking and taking down medium security installations inside New London system during the course of this day long operation seem true.

Our reporter located the GRN forces already in Dublin, in the process of striking up secondary targets pertinent to the Bretonian famous gold mining industry. Commentators close to the Gallic forces indicate the operation aims were to cripple Bretonian economy and apply Shock and Awe tactics upon the resisting population, which is forced to keep fighting for the imperialist regime under terrible living conditions, aggravated by the chronic bretonian industrial flaws and war attrition.

The GRN forces numbered a dozen or so capital class vessels of several designations, defended by a reasonably sized escort group. The assault on Hochschild Gold Mining PLC took some hours, not because of stiff resistance by the security forces of the miners or BAF, but solely by the structural sturdiness of the space installations, designed to handle hourly impacts of the elements of the asteroid field it was prospecting.

Bretonian spaceship presence was light throughout the siege, counting a couple of vessels of the BMF (Bretonian Merchant Fleet), and a single Molly resident that earned the distrust of the Gallic escorts, and sparse BAF harassers. It seems that the relations between the Gallics and the Mollys aren't so clear cut as rumor made us believe.

A few Gaian onlookers, as well some Sirius Coalition scouts, were spotted throughout the event. A chief concern of our Gaian colleagues was the safety of puppies allegedly living inside the mining station.

With the destruction of the installation assured, we moved back to our office. No comments from the Bretonian Armed Forces command could be acquired, for it would be likely our correspondents would get shot at by the crazed forces of theirs.

In related News, BMM reported severe losses on their Gold mining extraction and shipping after the attack, and market sentiment dropped heavily, with some companies stock losing as much as 8,78% of their value in an hour. We will have to wait for the opening hours of foreign markets to see if there is an emphatic reaction to this Bretonian shock.

KNF announced today that it would launch its first campaign of "pacification" of the Northern Territories, known as Hokkaido, Rishiri and Nagano systems.

Most experts say that the move comes as a response to the alleged "Attack on Tomioka by Blood Dragons"(link pending) on the colony of Planet Tomioka and its citizens, a project coordinated by the ever patriotic Samura Industries.

Confidential sources indicate that the KNF has made efforts to gather and mobilize a large contingent for the operation, although exact numbers and details are unknown at the moment (for being confidential, of course). Pundits suspect that the KNF has mustered a force not only to drive out the rabble that is the Blood Dragon terrorist movement, but to assert his control and influence in the legal and just land developments by Samura Industries.

Other sources point out to the government and state institutions led by Kishiro bureaucrats as the source of the visible delay. They say that Kishiro was reluctant in providing the necessary funds and authorizations for the Naval Forces to act, and that only after several concessions were given by the Admiralty and High Command were the bureaucrats convinced to support the expedition.

Samura Industries continues to maintain their statement that the situation in Tomioka is under control, and that the Naval Forces presence is welcomed, although not needed.

There have been few reports by our sources that the refugee flow from the system is not as big as it would be expected, and that even traffic into the system has increased at a few points in the last weeks. The usual suspects include Samura Industries security forces and Rheinland corporations convoys interested in protecting their valuable interests in the region, as well as many a thousand Farmer Alliance activists. We cannot determine if this traffic is heading to the allegedly blockaded Tomioka Planet, or to other installations in the system.

Concerning trends of Amakudari practices.

A new study presented by the New Humanities University of Nippori (NHUN), in Planet New Tokyo, has revealed that the recent years of Republican ruling have suffered an increase of appointments of former high ranking bureaucrats and civil servants into corporations and private sectors they oversaw just months before their retirement or "resignation".

This practice of "revolving door business", or Amakudari (Descent from Heaven) as pundits and commentators have begun to call it, results in important members of the state ministries being invited to high administrative jobs in some of the biggest corporations in our house, usually in business sectors that are related to their previous functions in the state administration.

It is usually suspected that said individuals might have been incited to benefit the inviting companies in State contracts, or to aid them to avoid troubles in inspections of regulatory bodies. While some cases of corruption have been trialed in connection to this, many have escaped conviction or even accusation because of the use of legal loopholes that render them free from criminal charges.


Kishiro at the front of the greatest number of cases this year.

A recent example was the nomination of former Ministry of Planetary Infrastructure and Development Secretary Kakushita Okoshi to a director position in Kishiro's civil construction subsidiary Tatemonoya Inc., in Honshu. It is known that Kakushita had a major role in drafting the new development plans for the Neba province in Planet Honshu, in which 300.000 new households are expected to be constructed in response to increased demand by migrant workers and GMG returnees to Kusari space. Most of the lands marked for state subsided development were previously bought up by several entities within the Kishiro holding, and companies under the Keiretsu are expected to get most of the construction contracts.

"State and Private business sordid relations are not entirely new in Sirius." - reminds us Professor Ono Asahimo, one of the coordinators of the University study. He provided to North Star News reporter with some insight on these practices.

"Private-Public sector relationship is most of the times very close, and usually only strong legislation and policing prevents the procedures from falling into complete anarchy. We have cases like Bretonia, where they decided to create state bound corporations to pursue the interests of the House, while allowing private enterprise to compete side by side in many other areas. You have cases like Liberty and Rheinland, where centuries of changes of free or regulated market have honed this set distance between public affairs and private interests, although there are records of many instances of corporations getting the upper hand in deciding how the policy is run too.

The case of Kusari is particularly interesting. It is considered that under the eras of the first Shogunate and the Imperial era, the noblemen class and the imperial bureaucracy dominated the political sphere, with the wealthy middle class adopted as a subordinate collaborator to these elites. It is known that Samura and Kishiro have grown to what they have become due to this collaboration and favor of select elites within the high ranks of Imperial society.

With the coming of the Republic, changes to the way politics are done in the House are obvious, but they are not the only ones. Changes in the power structures allow the keiretsu strong men to influence political parties and even the state administration more directly. It is our opinion that Kishiro is taking the opportunity to acquire more privileges than they would have access if there was not a democratic state in Kusari."

Investigations during the last decade of the Imperial regime indicated some preeminence of Samura in the practice. After the Republican implementation however, suspected cases of Amakudari corruption have more than quintupled in comparison to pre-republican levels.


Mixed public reaction to the practice. Government hesitant to toughen legislation.

A public survey on the case revealed a relatively weak awareness to the phenomenon, with only 36% of the surveyed people declaring being aware of the practice or the terms related to it.
Furthermore, of those aware, 44% thought that tougher restrictions and penalties should be implemented, 36% considered that the matter was "not concerning", and 16% declared that the practice was beneficial. The remaining 4% fell under "other" opinions.

But not everyone is receptive to such changes. In the past year, four former members of the Ministry of Economy have been assassinated in apparent retaliation to agreements made by the Government to ease or lift food and agricultural import tariffs in the Honshu system. Such agreements, which have allowed companies like Synth Foods and Rheinland producers to become more competitive in Honshu supermakets, have raised the ire of the powerful conservative Kusari Agricultural Lobby, which holds a longstanding sway on talks Agricultural development and protection efforts.

The murder cases have been linked to activities of the Farmer Alliance activist movement, although the Kusari State Police inside sources cast suspicion on false leads and "absent" surveillance by Hogosha as factors for the failure to prevent the crimes.

5th| Fleet hosts security meeting on Planet Los Angeles


Yesterday, the North Star News had the chance to witness the departure of a Liberty Navy high command group, composed mostly of elements of the Liberty Navy's 5th| Fleet officers and some escorts, as they departed from Manhattan. Sensing that something of importance was about to happen, this reporter has politely followed the group to the California system, although no warnings of a Gallic attack was imminent.

What was revealed is that the Navy was making preparations for receiving a military representative of the Crayterian Republic, a small state that was expelled from the Taus years ago by the Gallic invasion, to conduct high level meetings on security and war efforts.

This reporter had access to some of the content of the meeting, before the involved parties decided to close the channels to press observers such as ourselves. See the annex reports for more details.

Unfortunately, the interview was cut short, as the meeting was interrupted several times during it's course by the appearance of local and foreign criminals, most notably some Outcast pilots who managed to overpower almost of the assembled Navy fighter pilots present. The Navy decided to end the meeting at that point, at the time when an assortment of merchants, freelancer and undesirables took presence in Planet Los Angeles orbit and slogged the radio bands with carefree chatter and propaganda.

The House of Liberty remains committed to their apparent goals of protectionism of ideological and economical interests outside of their borders against the actions of Gallia. Let us see if the Crayterian Republic microstate will be able to benefit from such statements, and attain peace and recognition in their little corner of the Galaxy.

Liberty Navy concerned about possible renegade group hiding in the border regions. Vessel "Cincinnati" at the center of the matter.

Excerpts of the Liberty Navy meeting that this reporter had access to reveal that the Liberty Navy is concerned about a supposedly fugitive vessel, commandeered by a Commodore Maverick O'Howell, presumably of the Liberty Navy, has escaped to territories outside of Liberty space and could constitute a real threat to Liberty and it's Crayterian allies.

During the meeting with the CR, Liberty officers were heard that the Cincinnati was "Kilo Oscar Sierra" (military jargon for Kill on Sight, usually assigned to high danger threats), and that Maverick O'Howell and it's accomplices could be hiding somewhere in CR operated space in the Coronado system.

The North Star news was unable to inquire further on the antecedents of Commodore O'Howell, or what caused his apparent desertion from the Liberty Navy. This reporter was also unable to inquire about what is the stance of the Crayterian Republic regarding the incident.





Former Liberty-Bretonian borders become more chaotic, as Core dissidents make themselves known.

During the field reporting in California, we have seen action by this new group of activists, which some refer as Auxesia.
According to travellers and testimonies, the Auxesia is a group of dissidents of the Core organization, who have moved out of the Omicron exploration efforts and are making waves in the Bretonian - Liberty region. One man by the name Tal.Ravis suggested us that their leader, Sapphire.Raven, who make her presence in the system at the time, is "an ex-Core operative who wears purple spandex and has a ninja sword."

While it is uncertain if these hearsay reports are accurate, it was evident in the exchanges with the Liberty Navy forces that they are not seen with good eyes, and may be in league with some desirable entities in Liberty, or related to the Cincinnati renegades.

Sirius was struck in the last 48 hours with shock waves from deep in the Edge World, as the most serious crisis affecting zoner settlements since the Freeport 7 demise unfolds.

Reports are confusing, but according with several sources, but the zoner Freeport 11 in the high traffic Omicron Delta system has been the source and target of much tensions between the usually nomadic free spirited zoners, and a paramiliatary corporation named Core, which had for the past years been settling in the area to combat outlaw and alien entities in the region.
Tensions reached the breaking point at the beginning of this month, when skirmishes between Core and other armed groups began taking zoner casualties in the crossfire, and the non binding No Fire Zone of the Freeport began to be frequently violated.

A mysteriously shady person reveals alleged initial skirmishes of Core PMC against zoners (content discretion is advised)

The situation took a turn for the worse as the zoners deployed their famed "security assets" and made themselves easier targets for barbaric retribution by the paramilitary, as they were taken down along with combat groups from the Sirius wide terrorist organization, The Order.

The Core pmc then took it to the next level, by enacting on several occasions direct bombardment of the zoner installation with Capital tier weaponry, a clear violation of the international [FILE NOT FOUND] accords. At least, it should be something that would be forbidden by some international agreement. At the moment of printing this article, no relevant inter-house agreements have been found.

Humanitarian efforts are called on all sides. Nomad activity rises in response to intense traffic.

The results of the conflicts on the Freeport 11 was considerable, as our report team had the chance to witness. Initial zoner statements indicate several breaches and all around damage to the Freeport, as well as dozens of fatalities and hundreds of wounded. The Zoner Confederation of Freeports, known representative association of Zoner interests, has sent several distressed pleads for aid, and has set up supply gathering points in the far regions of the Tau and Omega so they can be shipped by allies and volunteers to the war zone.

Our report team arrives on Freeport 11, on board of a Hogosha vessel delivering relief supplies set up by Zoners in the Tau systems.

A while before, our transport passes a multi organization convoy of transports and escorts, returning from the warzone.

While many zoners and reputable people are found guarding the battered installation, there are also less than desirable militias among them.

Such pleas were not left unanswered, as pilots and companies of all corners of the galaxy took opportunity of the Freeports open door policies to load up on the critical DROP supplies, as they have been named, to deliver them to the Freeport 11 and receive the good fortunes of the Zoner emergency measures.

The light show and considerably increased unarmed shipping traffic in the region however has attracted the attention of endemic Alien specimens of the Nomads and some synthetic robot constructs, who have in their aggravated state performed several attacks on isolated civilians and armed groups, likely to further increase the casualties of this disaster.
Several similar attacks have been reported in Kusari space as well, most certainly targeting civilian shipping heading to and from the deep regions. KNF declined to make any comments on the recent attacks in House space.


The Scourge of the wildlands respond to actions

Political outrage was not absent from the Core/Zoner crisis, although it came not from the most expected sources.
Unlawful and terrorist organizations in the Omicrons and surrounding regions were the first to publicly denounce the attacks on the civilians, using the opportunity to cover their own human rights violations with a show of moral "righteousness", and pledges of support of defence against the PMC aggressor. As our reporters arrived at the Freeport 11, several warships and terrorist militias could be seen standing by alongside zoner and other more legitimate folks genuinely concerned by the safety of the station. Most concerning was the permanent posting of one or several capital class vessels of the political terrorist organization, the Sirius Coalition.

Several knowledgeable people in the area also reported sightings of Blood Dragons heavy assets in the vicinity of the Freeport, and being targeted by the Core PMC on several occasions. This news service dismisses such appearance as unlikely, as the Blood Dragons do not possess the logistical or military assets to be present in the Omicrons.

Sirius wide serial killers, The Order, issue a statement on the matter.

Political warmongers and criminal supporters, the Sirius Coalition, denounce the Core PMC attacks. Branding terrorists like The pot calling the kettle black.


The Houses, however, remain silent.

Menawhile, the Kusari government remains mum about the whole event, preferring to ignore all the issues in outside of their borders. At this hour there are still no reports by either the Zoners or the Republic of Kusari government of any nationals caught in the disaster. No statements by the KNF about the possibility of sending a humanitarian relief taskforce have been presented as well.

Seems to be a stance similar with all other House governments who have so far declined to denounce any alleged Core war violations, or pledge sympathy and support for the plight of the mainly undocumented and stateless settlers of the wild and highly anarchic Edge World region.
Either by legal constraints or by political implications, the Houses and their Navies, expected prime sources of law and order, and stability for Sirius, find their hands tied, while vile undesirables and rejects of society take opportunity to look good on camera and promote their World End projects.

Some corporations and organizations have expressed their views, either denouncing the Core PMC in harsh terms, or expressing condolences and support for the Zoners.

May has been a bad month for people galaxy wide, as a series of disasters keep striking both the Houses and the far regions, reminding Humanity how frail its achievements and ambitions are.

Tragedy struck closer to home this week, as reports came in of the sudden destruction of the revered Osaka Storage Facility, maintained by Kusari giant Samura, in the Honshu system.

The revered station, a beacon of industrial prowess of the House, suffered a critical collapse of yet unknown origin, and was destroyed almost beyond recognition. Few survivors were retrieved from the station evacuation utility pods.

The Kusari State Police has cordoned off the area, and advises traffic to not loiter around and proceed their voyage.
They issued strict order for the wreckage to no be moved by passers-by, while Samura and KSP teams investigate the debree and remove the corpses of victims. Current estimates point out for a number of deaths approaching 90, still far below the expected count on such active station.

The causes remain unknown, and the KSP has so far refrained to voice their suspicions. Meanwhile Samura has already initiated procedures with IC to claim the Osaka base insurance payouts, which according to some sources were last evaluated in January as worth several Billions of credits.

It is unsure at this moment if Samura plans to reconstruct and resume operations of Osaka. Several citizen groups of Planet Honshu and throughout Kusari have pleaded the prefectural government to build a memorial in the place of the Osaka in memory of the victims, and public donations have already acquired several millions of Sirian credits for the cause.

In other news, several freelancer and corporate reports revealed the appearance of new interstellar connections in the Sigma region, opening new avenues for accessing previously remote systems.

Sources close to the Kusari Government indicated the appearance of several new links in all of the known sigma systems, and the establishment of stable routes to at least 3 systems in the region. Interstellar Charters have dubbed the three systems Sigma-21, Sigma-59, and Sigma-15 respectively.

The Sigma-15 system apparently has been carefully monitored by the authorities of Rheinland, and several Rheinland led projects are visible in the area, including a military outpost, and heavy RM patrols.
Civilian traffic flows mainly to a relatively unknown Freeport 8, which has seen it's customary days of peace come to the end as the media and traffic attention direct their gazes to this seldom explored sectors of the Sigma cluster.

Rheinland government has initiated overtures regarding a potential incorporation of the system to their holdings, with the denomination of [Luneburg] as the official name for the system on Rheinland papers, and the initiation of the colonization project of Planet Hammersee.

Sigma-59, Gas Miners Guild domain of secrecy.

The Sigma 59 system appears according to outside sources to have been for the past years a closely guarded secret of the Gas Miners Guild, who have experimented in their development of the system infrastructures with megalomaniac station designs and massed labour construction policies.

Whether such designs are more than some half assed propaganda campaign by GMG and Interspace Commerce marketing pundits, or whether if labour casualties reached the thousands or were not accounted at all remains to be seen, as our reporters have been refused entrance to the installations and the system corridors itself, an old practice of the ethically degenerate Gas Miners.

Elsewhere in the system, the Bounty Hunters Guild has set up some sort of shop, using some techniques they probably learned from scrappers on their wild adventures. The North Star news has been unable to verify these accounts so far.

Lastly, the Sigma-21 system is reported to be the closest to Kusari, and already it's made evident by several resemblances of the traditional Kusari systems.
Our reporter had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful gas giant Hanoi, as well as a aesthetically pleasing planet, that astronomers have dubbed Saigon. Scientists of Kishiro have reported that there is high conditions for colonial settlement on Saigon, and that the Kusari government should consider initiating a House project towards such end, much like Rheinland has begun in the neighbouring Sigma-15/Lunenburg system.

The centre of the sector is dotted with an asteroid field, orbiting the twin suns that make this system one of the most memorable of the Sigma cluster.

Government officials has so far declined to issue any statements on the matter of the "new Sigmas", nor to the official but unrecognised "declaration" by the Gas Miners Guild on their claim of the Sigma region, or the legal application of the Guild oppressive rule on this undeveloped territories.
