Operation "Kamikaze" (January 3rd) - Char Aznable - 12-30-2015

Official Storyline event: Operation Kamikaze

"Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack."

Sun Tzu, ~5th century BC, China, Earth

"This will be remembered as the day the Empire struck first!"

Vice Admiral Sakuma Hitomi of the imperial Guard, 822 AS, Tau-29, before the attack

"They are blind devotees to a dying tradition... But I will be damned if I do not say that they are some of the finest warriors Kusari has ever produced."

Rear Admiral Soga Yoshizaka of the republican Naval Forces, 820 AS, New Tokyo, introducing his evaluation of the Tau security

Sakuma Hitomi was facing a group of men, looking down on her and the plan laid down behind her. For a long time in years, she was actually nervous - the people that she was talking to included some of the most prestigous soldiers the Empire had ever seen. And the gallery behind the assembled men contained the one person that judged her every move - the Tenno himself. She couldn't see him through the curtains made from silk, but the gravity of his presence was almost deafening. Finalizing her speech, she summed up the battle plan.

"So in total, we draw the attention of the Republicans towards the dust cloud with a diversion from Tau-23 here, attacking with a few reserve vessels and the Yamaguchi. We should not risk too much, but it has to look like a big assault is coming.

Once the time is up, before they can react on the diversion, we'll use the Jumpgate. Attacking on two fronts will wear them out. They don't know we're coming, and they're understaffed. With Nagasaki providing covering fire, we should be able to take the Nagumo out before Nansei's garrison can even react to one of the threats, and even if that doesn't happen, they're more likely to react on the threat from the Ohka cloud. After all, that'd be the point where they'll be weakest. And once Nagumo has been defeated, the fleet will scatter. They'll probably retreat deeper to the system, but ideally, we can keep up the momentum achieved by this and take Kyushu in a few months. "

Silence filled the room, so grave that you could have heared a feather falling. It took a few moments before the shadow back on the gallery began to slowly, but steadily, nod in approval. The decision had been made, the dice had been cast. Now there would be no return.

The Kempeitai and the Exiles working together to divert KNFs attention and Fleet movements

Objectives:

Exiles Objectives:

Destroy as many reinforcing ships as possible

KNF Objectives:
Destroy the attackers!
Take as many prisoners as possible

Outcomes:

Exiles Victory:
The Nagumo is heavily crippled and most of its fleet destroyed, a crippling defeat that might stir up the stakes

KNF Victory:
The Nagumo has to retreat, but manages to land a devastating blow on the Akatsuki, taking out its engines and forcing it to become a completely immobile asset until repair facilities become available

Flow of the event:

At the beginning of the event, the KNF assembles half its forces around Tsushima Depot, resembling the battlefleet being spread out and patrolling the system. The other part stays around the Nagumo.

The Exiles' forces dock on the Nagasaki before, representing the bulk of the fleet jumping in as the massive ship covers them.

Once the go is given, the Exiles undock and immediately start to engage the KNF fleet. Capital ships should focus on the Nagumo, which will be set to destructable once the fight begins. Respawns from both Battleships are possible and intended, as the fighting draws close-quartered and intense.

20 Minutes after the fight began, the KNFs reinforcements move in, led by the Battlecruiser Akatsuki. The carnage and chaos around them, as well as the order to shoot their brothers, cause the crew of the ship to refuse said order. Nagumo's commander sees that as treason - and orders a full barrage on the 'deserted' ship. Forced to side with the imperials to survive, Akatsuki finally joins the battle.

After another 20 minutes, the respawn server rules will become active again. Should the Exile forces at that point lose all of their ships, the KNF is considered winner, if the Nagumo gets destroyed at any point during the engagement it is considered an Exile victory.

Admins will participate in the Event to enforce rules, as well as to spawn NPCs to combat imbalances and ensure the smooth progress of the event.

Capital ships will be limited to Cruisers maximum - Both Battleships involved in the fight are resembled by NPC (Nagasaki) and PoB (Nagumo) representations. Try to even out the numbers on all shipclasses - the fight should be fun for everyone.

343 is ready for action!

RE: Operation "Kamikaze" (January 3rd) - CrazyD - 12-30-2015

[KSP] can participate in the event?

RE: Operation "Kamikaze" (January 3rd) - Char Aznable - 12-30-2015

Negative. This is an event only between the Naval Forces and the Exiles, considering that the Police still hasn't really decided what side it will take in the upcoming civil war at this particular point of the storyline. Aside from that, this is a war between navies, specifically navies of the same country. KSP will get its fair share of fighting, but in the initial battle, they will not be around.

While there are still many loose ends to tie in the short period before this event, the [KNF] endorses this historic event.

Not sure what I will bring personally, have to consult with the others.

Updated with three roleplay links concerning the movement of the fleet. Also, ~bumpingu~

RE: Operation "Kamikaze" (January 3rd) - Char Aznable - 12-31-2015

Bumping. Apart from that, it would be cooll if one of the Admins could create a n announcement bar about this event like it has been done with Royal Flush.

RE: Operation "Kamikaze" (January 3rd) - WesternPeregrine - 12-31-2015

Just a heads up. Any KNF indie capital ship (Battlecruisers and below in this case) that will participate in the event is asked to register in this KNF registry please.

This does not apply for KPT or KSP vessels. Those are not expected to participate in the event, I believe.

RE: Operation "Kamikaze" (January 3rd) - Char Aznable - 01-01-2016

Bumping and repeating the question that I asked yesterday.

RE: Operation "Kamikaze" (January 3rd) - Traxit - 01-01-2016

Can indies from both sides(KNF and Exiles) participate?
