Work on the BAF Carrier - Unlucky_Soul - 01-04-2016 Seeing the interest generated here, and the OP getting way too cluttered, i've decided to open a new thread. Continuing from the last model, made this.More longer and slightly wider than the previous one Original Did some changes to V1. V1 tweaked Decided to tinker and get a more robust feel with the one above i came up with this. //removed A size comparison of the two ships above with the Dunkirk and the carrier //removed Made another from scratch. This time taking cues from the liberty assault carrier but yet retaining the bretonian look //replaced old one with reworked version V3 Link to p3d.in Another one from scratch. V4 Tried to synchronize the old model with V1, couldn't combine the aesthetics of of both so i made the nose part taking cues from the original model. //Replaced old model with new one V5 Link to p3d.in Well here is the carriers, In-game model, V1,V3,V4 and V5(tweaked) //removed for now. will be putting the updated models soon As usual feedback is most welcomed. Will be putting up a poll soon ![]() Do note: Theses are rough models. I will be the models in a poll and will work on texturing the winner. RE: Work on the BAF Carrier - Swallow - 01-04-2016 Man, the first one is something great! RE: Work on the BAF Carrier - Connor - 01-04-2016 Carrier V2 looks more like a transport. RE: Work on the BAF Carrier - jammi - 01-04-2016 Much more a fan of the first design than the second. The engine pipes look really unusual compared to anything else in the Bretonian line. I'd recommend filling in the sides of the hangar launch tubes to be a solid block as well. The current diagonal design also looks a bit odd. The first one is really cool and innovative looking though! ![]() RE: Work on the BAF Carrier - Unlucky_Soul - 01-05-2016 Added new model. Check op RE: Work on the BAF Carrier - Venkman - 01-05-2016 The Carrier v1 looks amazing, it's a yes from me and I can't wait to see it textured. ^^ RE: Work on the BAF Carrier - Mao - 01-05-2016 You certainly got better at this. V3 looks massive. Can you add it to the comparison? RE: Work on the BAF Carrier - TheJarl - 01-05-2016 The V3 looks really good though perhaps a more sloped topside would make it fit in with the rest of the shipline more as I think most Bretonian ships have that. RE: Work on the BAF Carrier - Jinx - 01-05-2016 Version 1 seems to fit best in my opinion - although (trying not to sound like an arse) i think my design (current one) is somewhat nicer .. [although the last-minute-skinning-work i did for it sucks greatly .. admittedly] A little concern i have is that you may need to severely downgrade some edges on it. the 3d view shows roughly 7500 faces ... but you uploaded as rectangles. in order to convert it to freelancer capabilities - you d have to double that number because it ll be converted to triangles. and while i do not think that 15k does anything except ppl playing on really old computer hardware - it does exceed the limit set by the dev team. it was something like 8k-10k i think for battleships .. . version 2 and 3 do not look the part - they do not instantly strike me as carriers or military bretonian much. RE: Work on the BAF Carrier - Oldum - 01-05-2016 #1 deffinately! It looks nasty and brutal, has the marks of both the Bret BS and Cruiser in it and looks pretty much how I'd imagine a bretonian carrier. #2 looks a little too crowded, those tubes are a bit out of place there. #3 looks a little strange, like the wildchild of a Star Wars design and a Hessian Battleship. Apart from the engine area, it isn't that much Bretonian. tl;dr , go for #1 at full speed ![]() |
