Toward a new zoner group - moebus - 02-07-2016

I've been discussing with a few players and it seems we reached a critical mass of players to found a new group of zoners based in the Omicron systems.

Despite I've got some precise ideas of what I would like to see, I won't write a full group description of this group in the "Unofficial Factions and Groups" section of the forum.

Instead I would like to initiate a collaborative process of creation.
This way I hope all the founders will really feel part of the project on an equal basis.
At this step, I would like to know who would like to participate to the creation process.
Depending on the result I will adapt the creation process to make it efficient.

Note that, it would be desirable that the people who want to participate to the creation process would then be pretty active members of the group.

(I've made a poll but I am not sure it will appear...)

There's one problem with Zoners.

Official Zoner groups are not, well, officials deciding for all Zoners. They aren't one faction, they are actually generics akin to Freelancers. Zoners are, well, civilians which declined House Rule and roam as traders, explorers and peddlers all around the Sirius.

RE: Toward a new zoner group - moebus - 02-07-2016

I don't see it as a problem. Zoners may live in small independent communities.
I had a lot of fun playing zoners in disco since I joint this community. I don't see why I would not continue to have fun with it.

Oh, my mistake in previous post! Should be "There's one problem with Zoners - the facts which people playing as Zoners seem to forget".

RE: Toward a new zoner group - Parvizal - 02-07-2016

As long as keep your group out of house space in respect to lore then I don't have a problem with you making another Zoner group

RE: Toward a new zoner group - Hannibal - 02-07-2016

but i gotta ask, with current status..what can one do as a zoner in omicrons? nomad farming isn't an option anymore due to order-zoner relations and core being core(..),trading was never viable ,always inferior and its too much hostility in omicrons as of now, jumptrading has been nerfed too, supply for pobs are a lot more expensive due to order relations..

Enforce the Freeport laws

RE: Toward a new zoner group - Alvin - 02-07-2016

Don't mind a new Zoner group if there is a genuine interest for it, though I still personally feel more attention is needed for factions in the core systems.

Also, the poll above seems a bit bias in terms of "actually wanting to join the group or not". The answers you could really chose from is

Yes
Yes
Don't Know

@Lambda - Even zoner knows the freeport laws are a bluff. They can remind offenders of it, but trying to actually enforce it will end up seeing 10 core makos knocking on your doors.

RE: Toward a new zoner group - Arioch - 02-07-2016

Interested to see where you take this @moebus!

@"Lambda" - That's what the CoF tried to do. The downside was that to fully enforce FP laws, you needed a Zoner fleet to monitor each FP, and you had to break neutrality at times. The pressure was insane when a lawful caught an unlawful docking there, and you couldn't shoot the unlawful because they weren't attacking the FP or zoners. It was just a headache. Now, that's not to say you couldn't hire protection/mercs, but that goes into a more grey area on everyone's interpretation of what Zoners are and should be.

@Hannibal - Lots of things you can do. Just gotta have the imagination.

@Parvizal - Within reason. Zoners can go into house space. They can't though go "We own this system!" or "We do what we want and screw you!". For instance, Ames Research Station and Bethlehem station are Zoner bases in Liberty (Ames is right outside Liberty). While Zoners who venture into house space need to be mindful of their ID as well as what they are carrying and such, the same can be said towards Houses.

Anyway, hit me up on PM or Skype Moebus. Would love to chat more and see what ideas ya have to make a Zoner group in the Omicrons.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Alvin :p

Well, I'm doing this 1 week now, enforcing the Freeport Laws in Omicron-Delta, sometimes it's difficult, but the most time you have some player who are willing to help you to enforce this laws.
Currently, I just have a Cruiser and a Carrier there, but it's enought to enforce them
