Suggestion: Stock market - Piombo65 - 03-18-2016 This suggestion don't changes within the mod. It may be a.... application like the Mactan Network or the Discovery Nav-Map in the "Player Utilities" Mod. It could be a idea introduce the stock market, a "financial monitoring of discovery freelancer's corporations" where anyone could, in fact, sell and buy shares for the corporation tha will have their capital in an account character who "acts as the corporation bank" STUPID EXAMPLE: Export_Piombo65 is the character who acts as the Bowex Bank. Who wants sell shares for the Bowex will write /sendcash Export_Piombo65 *cash* (Currently is a my carachter. DON'T GIVE ME MONEY, IT IS A STUPID EXAMPLE.). Who wants withdraw shares from the Bowex will write /privatemsg Export_Piombo65 I want withdraw my shares of *cash sent* varied by *% of the variation* = *Cash changed*. All this will be monitored precisely by the app that controls all loans and debts of the players and corporations. ok, another complicated idea ... right? RE: Suggestion: Stock market - SnakThree - 03-18-2016 Years ago I was thinking about similar thing, however was unable to find any tool that would allow to automate this based on faction activity and other factors. And stock price manipulation done by players can lead to awkward scenarios. Perhaps if there is a coder out there with free time, it might be plausible, however, due to how Freelancer economy works and how predictable things are it will be nothing like the real thing. RE: Suggestion: Stock market - SnakThree - 03-18-2016 Not sure how that is relevant when you can transfer money in ooRP fashion. But yes, it can. The best example to give for this is probably X3 Albion Prelude which includes stock markets as far as I know. Given how the universe of X3 is built up though and how everything works, it's probably fair to say that it is impossible to implement an idea like that into Freelancer. It would require NPC's supplying NPC bases with goods to keep them alive and running to produce another product that would be on its way somewhere else etc. Everything would have to be bound like that with every single station in the game as well as NPCs (which is impossible given that they are not a hard component of "economy" at all. They are there and that's it, don't really serve much of a purpose and despawn once they docked with gates, stations or even get out of range of player ships. Stock marketing requires all of those factors to work together, like in X3. If it doesn't, a stock market is impossible to do. Just a reason in plus for play with the corporation: a "economic race" RE: Suggestion: Stock market - WesternPeregrine - 03-18-2016 For any stock market to work, it would have to be focused on listed/tracked player factions, their assets, their activity, and their losses (a kill tracker?). There is little use to try to pin a stock value on any npc aspect, because that would have no variation or worth. Guess something similar could be made to pobs, real estate/ business investment market. RE: Suggestion: Stock market - Lennox - 03-18-2016 It would first have to connect all NPCs, all NPC bases, all actions of players (like shooting NPCs), all commodities (amount, worth, production rate, sale and buyer numbers), all potential war zones that shift over time and more into one huge melting pod of a network. To do so, you would literally have to overhaul the entirety of freelancer itself to remotely get a chance of managing this. And even if you do, economy itself would need a lot more to be fit for a stock market. It's impossible. Sad but true fact. I don´t think there is reason to invest big amount of effort into some fancy addition which would have minimal contribution to the roleplay or gameplay. Also I don´t think it can even work without dynamic economy. |
