Franklin, Manager of Detroit Munitions' Department of Logistics. I'm afraid I have to be apologizin' to you to begin with. My department and I mistakenly overlooked your reckonings with regard to deliveries to planet Kurile, as one of our dealers found out first-hand rather recently. We're not lookin' to step on anybody's toes, though many of us are seein' this injunction as a potential opportunity. We understand that you're not interested in droppin' goods to Samura workers and liaisons planetside on Kurile, and we are willing to acquiesce to your terms, wherewith our delivery platforms on Kurile would deny access to Samura-licensed merchants and customers. With that, as you might understand, we aren't able to guarantee that unsavory types would be acting as middlemen, but we can take our business with Samura elsewhere. Surely you might be imaginin' that if we weren't interested in dealing with Samura, we wouldn't be dockin' on Planet Kurile. However, as our transport pilot mentioned, Kurile is somethin' of a hub for the lower Sigmas. In our case, we have a deal with Zoners of the lower Omicrons where we have licensed them to sell our products. Reason bein' is that we prefer to avoid directin' our major shippin' routes through such deep-space systems, and Sigma-17 is about as far as we're comfortable sending our transports. We deliver the goods to a controlled-access platform of ours planetside on Kurile, and the Zoners come to pick them up, to re-sell them in Omicron Theta and Omicron-74. So here's our proposition; we'll up the security on our platform for licensed purchasers like the Zoners and do our due diligence in preventin' Samura from collecting our armaments and other products, directly or otherwise. Additionally, as a show of good faith, we'd be willin' to make deliveries of our products to a base of your choice to the tune of 35,000 units, with all the manifests sorted out. If you'd like us to deliver a different product out of Liberty, such as materials for station maintenance or crew morale, that would be reasonable too. I'll ask my secretary Caroline to bump up GMG transmissions to the maximum priority. We're hopin' to hear from you. RE: To: GMG Guildmaster Namura / From: Detroit Munitions Company - Gas Miners Guild - 03-22-2016 ![]() Mr. Franklin, It is a pleasure to hear from you. As explained to your pilot in space, no apology is necessary, as The Guild is understanding of your position.
I do not intend to sound impolite, but I must make it clear that your charade regarding your supposed platform on Planet Kurile is not necessary. The Guild is fully aware that the sole platform on Kurile is directly controlled by and property of Samura Industries. However, I am glad to inform you that your supply runs to Samura are no longer necessary. Due to the perilous nature of the Sigma systems and their surrounding territories, GMG is always in need of high quality personal weaponry. We would like to extend the hand of friendship to Detroit Munitions, and with that, the offer to purchase a steady supply of your hardware. This contract on offer would negate the need for you to seek income from Samura, and thus play a major part in you avoiding falling foul of Guild law in the future. In short, we would like to buy your product, and do so in a way that would make Samura a redundant client. Please do not hesitate to share your thoughts. Cordially,
Keiji Namura

Perhaps it's been a while since you touched down there, Guildmaster, or perhaps, due to your prior disagreements with Samura, you just haven't been there at all. Whatever the case may be, there are several shipping platforms, albeit only one is permanently inhabited and operational, and that happens to be Samura's. We have been discussin' your proposition, and we believe it to be more than a little disingenuous, and futhermore, accusin' us of charadin' and equivocatin' with regard to our honest-to-goodness shipping platform naturally makes us disinclined to be acquiescin' to your ideas. Callin' your attempt to control our company's market an extension of "the hand of friendship"? Well... Despite our tendency to be dealin' with firearms and the consequent grease, propellant, and fried powerpacks, we're not willin' to shake a hand unclean. Now, should you be changin' your mind about the original offer, we'd be willin' to redact this here statement. Until then, however, your kind won't be receivin' any special treatment over Samura. Space be kind to you, Grant T. Franklin, Manager of Logistics, Detroit Munitions |
