Beast .ALE Editing: EIDO Engine - Black Widow - 03-27-2016

So I saw this engine in Nyx's SRP and loved the warp style power up so I downloaded the file to see if I could implement this engine effect myself.

To my horror it involved .ini files and we all know we cant edit .inis, so I decided to hack the ALE to see what I could extract it and well it worked Tongue

I mean it dont look exactly the same but I got the warp effect I was after and embedded it into the bret bs engine .ales NICE:

Now I am try and build a unique bret engine, lets see what I can build in ALE files Smile

note: only I can see this engine to everyone else I will have regular mako engine this is purely client side.

Honestly, I normally don't have a problem with people editing files for aesthetic purposes. But when someone blatantly steals another person's unique creation? That's not really cool, in my eyes.

I fully support the idea of CODENAME engines, though. Who wants to edit files when you can mount something that EVERYONE can see? I am all for showing off in Freelancer. The thought of CODENAME engines leaves room for a lot of imagination for the info cards of the wrecks they come from. Who knows, maybe one of the engines could have been an experimental piece being hauled for someone, which was mid-transport when a life support system failure occurred in a dense nebula?

I realize this is flood, but hey, it's a thought!

That's still using my property. You didn't change /anything/ to it so it's not a derivative work.

All you did was rename the .ALE file.

It's getting added in the next update anyway, so, uh, like, yeah, I was gonna post in my effects thread but

You don't just tamper with someone else's work unless you ask in advance. I'm also curious as to how you even got the files in the first place.

but as soon as you upload the files to the mod they are there for all to see anyway. so getting them now or later makes no difference as once they are in the mod they are in the mod.

I was only having a play anyway, no harm done and I am not actually getting a Dsy_Eido Engine so only one will exist ingame that all will see Smile
