What is the Ultimate Guide to Yakuza? The Ultimate Guide is a thread that encompasses the information of many into one unified post, in an effort to make finding information about the faction easier and more efficient. If you ever have a question or are unsure, check here before PMing anyone. Chances are it will answer your question.

What is Yakuza? According to Wikipedia, Yakuza "are members of traditional organized crime groups in Japan. Today, the yakuza are one of the largest organized crime phenomena in the world."

The Discovery Freelancer faction is very similar to their real life counterparts. Yakuza is something of a 'Kusari mafia', doing business, escort work, assassinations, and the like while waging a war against the (dishonourable) Kusari Navy. Yakuza is allied with the Blood Dragons (therefore requiring the BD ID), and therefore is friendly to BD allies but hostile to all enemies of the BD.

Naturally, Yakuza has very close relations with MiD and one would be foolish to expect Yakuza to turn a blind eye to any hostile to MiD. Yakuza operates on a sense of honour, and will aid all and any allies.

Faction tag: [Yakuza]
Faction ID: Blood Dragons ID
Faction Message Dump: http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=1352
Home System: (none yet, current base of operations is Kyoto Base, Chugoku)
Controlled Systems: Chugoku, Shikoku

Presently, Yakuza has an open recruitment policy and welcomes all new recruits with a 5 million credit introductory bonus.

Rules of Conduct in Yakuza-controlled Space:

Unlike many other factions, restrictions in Yakuza space are relatively low but there are a few notable ones that all should know.

1. Allies of the Blood Dragons are our allies. If we see you killing the Golden Chrysanthemums for instance, we will not be pleased.

2. Enemies of the Blood Dragons are our enemies. If we are blowing to pieces some Hogosha scum, and you are friendly with them, do not react unless you with to taste our steel.

3. Don't fire upon us. Shoot us and we will not hesitate to reply to a hail of fire and metal. We shoot first and ask questions later. That is a no-brainer.

4. Mind your own business. This is our space and we will do what we want. Business is business. You have no authority to order Yakuza around in Yakuza space... unless you want armed confrontation, that is.

5. Enjoy free trade. Presently we do not tax and have no restrictions on cargo; however, if you are ordered to relinquish your cargo, you will do so without argument.

Please note that these rules may change at any time and not knowing rules is no excuse for failing to comply by them.

Yakuza Diplomacy Status:

AW: Neutral
BS|: Neutral
DJC: Friendly
MiD: Allied
PHA: Unfriendly
RM: Neutral
SF: Neutral
TA: Neutral
TDE: Neutral

Note: While Yakuza would like to maintain good relations with all factions, due to inter-faction war, that is not possible. Yakuza will side with their allies in any conflict.

Yakuza Ranking System:

Master Dragon (Fleet Admiral) - The head honcho here, with authority over basically everything.
May use Cruisers or Battleships

Gold Dragon (Admirals) - In charge of the individual fleets and organizing them, etc. Also responsible for arming and distributing supplies for preparation of the fleet. Reports to the MD.
Must use Cruisers

Silver Dragon (Captains) - These guys will report to the GD's in the chain of command and are in charge of maintaining and protecting their squad units. They have authority over those squadrons and can organize/assign them roles as they please. They have to be flexible and must be able to adapt to situations that arise.
Must use Cruisers

Bronze Dragon (Commanders) - Commanders are a special rank only given to members of the Shi Kotaka (Death Falcons), an elite, gunboat Special Ops team. They are of the 3rd Battle Group of the 1st Fleet, and report directly to the Admiral.
Must use Gunboats

Bronze Dragon (Lieutenants) - Reporting to SD's, lieutenants will have to command an ensign. They may also assist Captains and take control of their duties should need arise.
May use Gunboats, Freighters, or (VH)Fighters

Student Dragon (Ensign) - The fresh recruits. While at the bottom of the chain, they still play a vital role and will be treated with as much respect as any other member of Yakuza. They report to their respective commanders and perform duties with the rest of the unit with unswerving loyalty.
May use Freighters or (VH)Fighters

Additionally, Captains and Admirals are permitted to have a second ship for the same RP character (which may or may not be used in combat, the choice is yours); however, this second ship is limited to freighters, trains, transports, and any type of fighter.

*note that ship requirements/restrictions may change

Fleet Organization:

Fleet Command: The FC is the Yakuza HQ, controlled by the Fleet Admiral from which (s)he issues orders.

Fleets: Fleets are commanded by (Vice)Admirals who report to Fleet Command for orders. Each fleet is subdivided into two Battle Groups (with the exception of 1st Fleet's 3rd Battle Group*, an exclusive invite-only special ops unit).

Battle Groups: Individual Battle Groups are lead by a Captain, who reports to his/her respective (Vice)Admiral. Each Battle Group is subdivided into two Squadrons.

Squadrons: Squadrons are the smallest organized unit in the Yakuza fleets, and are lead by a Lieutenant. The lieutenant commands ensigns (any number, but at least one) in the squadron.

* 3rd Battle Group, 1st fleet is not a traditional battle group (see above). It is composed of three elite, gunboats all of whom have the rank of Commander. The Battle Group, also known as Shi Kotaka (Death Falcons), can operate individually but works best together, with each member performing a different role (missile weapons, heavy weapons, light weapons). Shi Kotaka specializes in special operations and is expert in escort and assassination. IT IS INVITE ONLY.
