Help with Nomad Morph Character - Croft - 04-16-2016 I'm considering making a Nomad as its one of the few things I have yet to try out on Disco but I'd like to do it with a bit of a twist. The problem is I don't know if it would be too much or simply not the right kind of thing for a Nomad which is why I'd like some help/feedback on my idea. I had the thought of making a Nomad that was flawed in such a way that made the Mindshare painful, prompting it to escape before fully matured and imprinted with all the required knowledge. Basically a Nomad that doesn't know anything other than basic survival and a desire to seek out Daam K'vosh technoloy/artefacts (it wouldn't know what its looking for, only that it is drawn to things engineered from K'vosh technology, something to do with energy signatures perhaps?) That's not to say it couldn't communicate with other Nomads but only one at a time or in the same short bursts used to communicate with humans. Speaking of which, I was thinking of using the same style of talking used by the Khara though more simplified to reflect lack of knowledge, probably single or disjointed words like describing a star as a "yellow store" etc. I thought it might be interesting to see what people would do with a "blank slate" nomad, would they try to talk to it? Trap it and experiment on it? Maybe even try to tame it? All kinds of fun possibilities, though I fully expect to be blown up more often than not, however I'm not sure if this would be acceptable for nomad RP. Any help on the matter would be great. RE: Help with Nomad Morph Character - Triple Hazard Pay Inc. - 04-16-2016 Someone do the Huggy summoning ritual... But seriously, look at all the Morphed Logs and whatnot for examples, then ask about your idea, taking them into account. If the powers that be say that roleplay is acceptable, than that roleplay is acceptable. RE: Help with Nomad Morph Character - HuggieSunrise - 04-16-2016 its been done. it died. but uh. well. feel free to exsplore. essentially it would be one of those hardcore mode characters RE: Help with Nomad Morph Character - Croft - 04-16-2016 Everything has been done before, originality isn't what I was looking for just something that might be fun. I've looked through the logs, everything was roughly the same, hence the question but if the authority says go for it, well its good enough for me. Though feedback on the actual character would still be appreciated. RE: Help with Nomad Morph Character - Swallow - 04-16-2016 I think it has zero to none chances to survive (like a nestling, that fell out), without being guided by MS. The defect itself looks quite possible, because nothing is perfect in the nature, so the background is okay to me. The question is, what would it do? I think that the best way is to determine what it already knows, what it can do, and what essential parts would it miss without MS. Then, I suppose, first of all, it will not grow up, and, in my opinion, it will slowly go wild and turn into an animal (like a Mowgli child). If it will survive the harshes of the world, it will most likely cease to communicate and behave in an agressively-defencive way. Probably that it could have someone it would recognize and trust. Could be either human or AI, because, I suppose, Nomads will just eat it, or kill, or re-utilize as a flawed one. RE: Help with Nomad Morph Character - Croft - 04-17-2016 That's some generous survival odds, just to make things more interesting I had the intention of only giving it one weapon to reflect the improperly matured thing so we may be into negative figures at this point. I've been giving the limited knowledge aspect some thought, for the sake of playability it must have knowledge of basic survival and sense of self, being able to communicate at a simple level would help but I can build that up over time. From there I'm assuming since a morph is about learning and exploration, it would have instincts related to those tasks "built in" to its form, beyond that I'm not sure how much knowledge it should have. I'm leaning towards it knowing that creatures of a different form have stolen something but not knowing what, that would allow some underhanded tactics to get it to follow people. Being drawn to K'vosh based tech would also be another. The big question of course is, does it know its not matured properly? As for how it'd turn out, I'd probably leave it down to how it was treated but that opens another question, would a life form engineered to adapt and absord other forms of life turn feral? RE: Help with Nomad Morph Character - Swallow - 04-17-2016 Interesting question that is yet to be fully investigated. |
