Unforgiven Past - Unforgotten Service - Kaze - 06-15-2016

Office Foxtrot Alpha, Alpha Section, Fort Bragg
LIBCENTCOM, Planet Manhattan

16/6/823AS

The only sound filling the room was the sound of the cigarette smoke being pushed out from her mouth. The walls were decorated with awards, medals and holo-photographs of meetings with several Sirius VIP's and events that she recognized here and there. Sitting in one of the chairs, facing the Admiral's desk, her back was to the door as she continued to smoke and let every detail on the office sink in.

On the dark maple wooden desk, there would lie a sleeping console, a couple of eye-catching ornaments, much alike the ones found in libraries, plenty of different papers and documents, and small traces of the personality of Alan Jones. It seemed that not much has changed in the years and in the admirals, as she remembered the state of David Hale's desk as well. A mess, no doubt, but such was the way that both men worked, apparently.

She wondered if Jones also kept a bottle of Dublin Single Malt in the second drawer... Alongside a loaded blaster gun. She fought the urge to tamper with it, to provide security to her stay in this office. After all, she was still one of Liberty's most wanted and here she was.. Sitting in the office of the Fleet Admiral of the Liberty Navy, a person that knew who she truly was. In the back of her mind she cursed herself for seemingly following the same footsteps that once threw her into a two year long torture session at the hands of a madman.

"I wonder if the madman now is in the past... or in the future."
She thought as the smoke permeated the air.

After a meeting with the rest of the command and division status regarding reports of the recent operations and activities, Alan was left with another standard stack of papers that were scattered across the desk as usual, awaiting signatures and archiving. But before that there was nothing better than a coffee break with Alexis Hunter. Alexis was always good sport and your best choice when it comes to getting an opinion on new ideas before laying them out of the High Command. Either way that short break was over it was time to pick up and sort those paper, or in fact, actually expect someone.

Putting down the coffee mug, up the stairs and across the hallway, Alan made his way back to the office. Soon enough miss Dagon would notice the door behind her being opened in what seemed a slightly rushed manner. No doubt that got Kaze Dagon's attention. Now sharing a stare for a brief moment, Alan calmly let out a small "greeting". "I'm tempted to ask quite a couple of questions, but I think I have a good idea of what to expect." Alan had this rather smirky expression as he moved on to put the blue dress uniform's jacket on the hanger. He moves on to offer a handshake "Evening miss Dagon. Hope I didn't leave you waiting too long." before sitting on his chair on the opposite side of the desk.

"Good evening, Admiral Jones. And not at all."

She got up and shook his hand. With a nod, she sat again and waited for the admiral to sit in his rather comfortable chair. Her eyes trailed the man who just sat in front of her. Well built, with the chiseled jaw that was characteristic to Liberty men. As he let out a sigh from sitting and obviously clearing his mind for this event, he looked at her with a trace of a smirk. She sat perfectly still, like one would expect from a noble with education.

"Here we are, Admiral. The most wanted person in Liberty and the Admiral of the Liberty Navy, sitting face to face. A weird déjà vu. Although his desk was mahogany, that there was liquor in the second drawer and that you both have a blatantly disrespect for your own security."

Her hand trailed the cigarette, and she put it out in the ashtray.

"But apart from that, we established that I work towards the best interests for Liberty, so with that in mind... What do you require of me?"

Resting his elbows over the desk and keeping his hands slightly above his chin, Alan had a small frown after wondering about what Kaze's past and deed were like. Alan's facial expressions would betray him eight outta ten times and reading them was child's play. But his mind moved on quickly after hearing that tiny Hale "story". Alan loved those. In the end kinda winning Hale's trust never had been an easy task whatsoever so Kaze was indeed quite a special case. Alan lowered his hands on the desk and tapped it twice. He paused for a very brief moment before standing up again and reaching in the small locked cabinet behind the desk. "Office supplies" of course. Hidden behind one of the boxes were two glasses and a bottle of single malt. Alan puts them on the desk and fills both of them equally. "Well some things tend not to change that much.. do they?" He motions with the glass offering to Laze as well.

"Now.. about your assignments.. Jones reached over to the left of the desk, grabbing a folder with files from the Logistics Corps Directorate. "Now as you may know, Long Island has long been one of the main production facilities for the Navy. However production has stalled for the time being due to lack of some.. specific materials.. Exotic materials.." Jones would get one of the files from the folder showing the report on the lack of such and pictures of biohazard containers. "Now the best place to get access to such is from the Core, all the way out in the omicrons." Then the next file would be an established supply contract with the core. "Now where do you come in?" Alan paused for a brief moment. "To get these materials we are sending a specialized ESRD unit to make sure they get back home in one piece. Normally we would send the usual special forces escort teams for it, but this is probably one of the biggest deliveries we are making so I'm going to need the most elite I can find. That convoy may look wild but it's very vulnerable on the outer territory so they are mostly utilizing stealth and small capable escorts to keep a low profile and defend from any troublemakers. As such I need you to, take care of it and make sure the convoy reaches it's destination back home." Alan closed the folder. "So miss Dagon, that's the -need to know basics- for this mission. Interested?"

With a shake of her head, she denied the glass in front of her. As her gloved hand touched the glass to push it back, the clink of metal hitting the glass was a spot on lead of the materials her hand was made of. Her face did not changed from the professional look.

"I cannot drink any alcohol, Admiral. Doctor's orders."

Hearing the specifics of the assignment, she nodded to herself hearing each point, almost absent like, thinking on all the variables present. As the Admiral asked his question, she sat back and kept thinking in silence for some ten second more.

"I can see your motives for this. The Gauls have secured the corridor to Magellan, and your Overlord design is, if nothing, lacking the armor and firepower to withstand Valors head on. So new tactics are needed and the technology that Long Island can produce will help you greatly."

Grabbing a cigarette from a metallic case, she lit it up and exhaled the smoke, clearly relaxing her posture but remaining fully professional with the subject at hand.

"The transportation should have been arranged by the selling party, in my opinion. But as it is not a option at the moment, you have to make do. Since the seller is the Core, I believe the pickup will be in Omicron Rho?"

Alan nodded in understanding and put the glass aside. Could perhaps save it for alexis later. It was a bit unexpected for Alan though as Kaze rather hit him as the whiskey type. Bu thats how it was with Kaze; Expact the unexpected.

"Motives are different. But you are damn right when it comes to tactical advantage in the field. The importance of such was shown during the attack on the Oubli where a battlegroup led by the durango made it past the Gallic line of defense. "

Moving back to the mission Alan put the folder in front of Kaze. "The contract isn't quite solid yet as our Logistics Captain is still finalising the deal. Either way you are correct the pickup would idealy be Omicron Rho. Captain Elisabeth DeGrange from the ESRD is the group leader for this mission. She'll brief you in with the rest of the details." Alan paused for a brief moment. "Shouldnt be that hard of an assignment for you and will probably get you back in gear for the comming missions. And as for your reward.. Is there something particular you're interested in?"

While hearing the Admiral talking on the assignment, Kaze took the folder and perused the files inside. Information on the contract, expected difficulties, several flight paths, needs, logistics, the works. She nodded pulling a file with several names and ranks on it. DeGrange was one of them.

"Yes. There is something i am very interested in."

She placed the file back into the folder and closed it. After putting it back on the desk, she sat and looked at the Admiral, sizing his face.

"I want all the charges with my name in Liberty acquitted, desisted and deleted."

With a small gesture, her hand pulled a small hair in front of her face to the side and flicked her head, arranging it.

"The ones with my alias, Titanium Reaver, as well."

"A Reaver too?" Alan raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Cant really think about anything good whenever they have been sighted. Somehow It's rather.. fitting." He took the dosier and put it on his drawer then leaned on his chair. "That speaks for your abilities. But it also means the charges aren't going to be anything small. Any idea on the trouble the reavers caused?"

Now resting his hands on the table he remained quiet as he was wondering. "I can't remove your charges, nor can I change what has happened." Alan reached for a heavy ink black marker on his table picking it up." I can make sure they don't get in the way. I'll call in a few favors."

Then he handed her the marker. "Thats black ink. Used to classify sections on files. All the information regarding you and your activities documented on your files will be classified to top access only and removed from general access until they are deemed suitable for destruction."

Alan took a short pause and continued. "Kaze Dagon never Commited those crimes. Titanium Reaver does not exist."

A small smirk appeared on his face. "You might want to make it worth it." He then leaned back on his chair. "Any questions? Anything else?"

Eyeing Jones, Kaze raised an eyebrow how effortlessly he arrived to a satisfying solution, albeit temporary. She knew that a new debt was created now. A debt for a debt, a debt to Liberty transformed to a debt to the Fleet Admiral. Something way more manageable. Nodding, she replied.

"Very well, it is satisfactory. As to making it worthwhile, first, the ESRD mission. I will arrange for a suitable.. image that will not raise any eyebrows during its duration."

She grabbed another cigar, and lit it, exhaling the smoke.

"I suspect you want a full report of every aspect, something I am able to do."

The smoke lazily trailed her fingers and rose in the air.

"I do have to warn you, though. I will be.. indisposed for the next few months, afterwards. Training, of sort. Not the kind I am partial to."
.

"A full report, yes. Nothing more than the average post action report." Jones took another sip from his whiskey. He used the table as a support to stand up.

"As far as your image.. you will be provided with a choice between some very specialized high technology guardians. Unless you think you have a better alternative of course." Alan had a small smirk on his face as he walked to the front of his desk and leaning on it while looking at Kaze from a bit closer.

"Absence is understandable. I will call on you when I will need you. It will mean that by that time Ill ask for different tasks and missions." Keeping eye contact he added. "There's a saying; "If you have to deny the action, it was a shit action." Now go and prove whoever self-proclaimed genius that said that, wrong."

"We'll keep in touch."
