By my experience, i'd say that some people target you to ruin your day. - HoakinBlackforge - 06-16-2016

I know that there has been recently a thread about some guy ranting because he got destroyed by 5 ships at the same time, but this thread of mine is different.

So, a few hours ago, i was with my rogue character, trying to find some npc cargo ships to destroy them and steall all the things. I didnt wanted to assault any player because of 2 reasons: 1 I was using a pirate transport, obviously not suited for combat. 2 Assaulting in new york players didnt felt fair for me, since new players were kinda common, i remember seeing more than one sunburst traveling, so i just scared them.

Then, when im traveling near the badlands, suddenly 2 The Wild ships come and disrupt my cruise clearly with the intent of killing me. And i was like, what the heck are you doing here? I can understand that you can assault anyone you see, but, here in new york?

Thats when i remembered, a few hours ago before that, i was doing again the same activity, assaulting npcs, stealing stuff and then selling it to bases. When i was making some scouting, a liberty nave player with a gunboat appeared from a base, so i decided to run because of clear disadvantage. The guy started mocking me because of running away, but i didnt gave a damn because it was a logical decision. He just wanted pvp.

I just feel that these 2 guys decided to pick up on me wihout reason just for the reason to annoy me and get me out of the game.

I know that its pvp and thats how it works, but sometimes when i encountered some liberty navy players, nothing really happened: "Hey rogue, you are not welcome in this system, get out of our sight" And so i did, everyone was happy. I could understand that a liberty ship started attacking me because im attacking a npc cargo ship, but 2 wild ships from out of nowhere when im just traveling, just to destroy me, what do you win? Are you happy with your unsuccesful life now that im dead and i cant use my character for 2 hours?

I know that im being paranoid, but, for me in these kind of games where pvp can be everywhere, targeting a guy with out of place equipment just for the intention of annoying someone who did nothing to anyone, it makes me want to make a unnoficial faction with the purpose of hunting players anywhere they are until they decide to delete their character because they cant play it. Its just like that.

Well, now that im relieved of the frustration, i want to ask, is this kind of behavior really common in the community, and even allowed?

The 2 guys got an blue message from killing you. All people like blue messages. Maybe you just wasn't armed enough. You should never fly in New York withour having enough armor! Also I don't think people are hunting you. They just look for good targets, and transports are good targets. My advice: Get good at PvP, and get good stuff, so you can defend yourself.

I didnt had any cargo on, just like 63 units of H-Fuel. Was i really a worhty target?

And please, dont say "get good at pvp", its just offensive and elitist. I knew that i was in absolute disadvantage with a transport and charon turrets so i avoided pvp at all time. I already have enough experience in the server thanks to jack. I was fully equipped even with armor.

What i didnt find any sense is why would 2 The Wild guys come to just kill me.

Did they attack you without any sort of RP or warning?
I doubt somone would go out of their way just to kill you in New York, even more if they didn't see you killing NPCs or pirating players.A pirate transport can be quite annoying to kill from my experience with a nice armor upgrade ( i would like to make it clear that my experience is dying 95% of pvp encounters anyway). I'm not a pvp person, i'd rather leave the system if i get the chance, pay a fine, talk my way out of it or cloak out of range. I don't know if this helps, and i'm sorry if it doesn't or if it isn't the case, but if you were just looking for some NPC cargo and not much player interaction you could try something like cambridge or the omegas and steal some cargo from a passing gold ore trader.

Wild ID lets you engage anyone, and if I recall correctly, they can silently engage too. It's just a Terrorist ID behind Nomad Talk.
I'll normally engage Wild ID'ed ships on my human ID if they have Nomad Equipment on them. I'm sorry but my character isn't blind and the Nomad menace has been known to the public for ~20 years.

As for your question. Yes, this behaviour exists, it's generally a wrong moral thing so people with a normal moral sense would frown upon those who specifically hunt people just to "crap on them" and/or to make their life miserable. Though I don't think you could can sanction anyone for that unless you have HEAVY evidence (skype logs, proving that ship X, Y and Z belong to that person and so on and so forth).

Also, I don't see why you're emphasizing that killing someone in New York is bad? It's a regular system which has tons of activity and pews. I think you might be referring to Pennsylvania, that is the newbie system that you start out in and is generally full of helium miners.

Well, their RP was kinda poor, it clearly justified their intentions of wanting to kill me.

While my character is simply a totally mentally unstable psychopath, i tried to show as "uninterested" as possible:
[16.06.2016 17:15:56] Madhouse: MY BUTT << (Cruise disruptor from behind)
[16.06.2016 17:15:57] ---- : "Hello-hello."
[16.06.2016 17:16:22] ---- : "How are ya'? How kids?"

[16.06.2016 17:18:22] ---- : Let's take him to sugarland.
[16.06.2016 17:18:37] Death: Madhouse was put out of action by ----- (Gun).

I follow the personality of my character, but i answer in ways that people can (almost) understand, like when i see a liberty navy ship, instead of "hello" i just say: I DONT LIKE YOU or WE AREN'T FRIENDS

I always wanted to try how roleplay works through a game, but if im going to find scumbags who just want to pvp, i could just bring a group of friends, and destroy literally anyone we see through "roleplay".

A good tip is to get out of New York and head for the Taus, Rheinland or Bretonia. There are a lot of low-effort RPers in New York.

They are not the main elements of the community. Most of us give a damn and attempt to contribute, so if you need a hand with getting started, or finding factions that can help you out or just individual players - feel free to PM us, either on the forums or Ingame, or try to get our skypes. We'll do the best we can to help you in the RP environment.

In addition, contact the Angels. They're a group of players entirely dedicated to helping new guys out.

I hope this helps, friend. But yes, New York is not an encouraging place to be for fresh players. If you feel you are being maliciously targeted, report the player, and let the admins decide. However, you will die in Player-verses-player encounters, and New York is an extremely hardcore system for an unlawful player. Indeed, I wouldn't advise jumping straight to unlawful as a new player, since you are going to get shot at for most of the time you fly in house space. Try lawful, migrate to quasi-lawful, and then move onto unlawful once you think you have a grasp of major roleplay and combat elements.

If you want a good unlawful RP direction, you could try smuggling. It'd also keep your credit income up.

Well it may not be pleasant but if somone disrupts you , tells you to stop and you keep cruising i think they are more then allowed to shoot you if i'm not mistaken (excuse me for any grammar errors in there).
I think getting a group of people and start destroying every ship you find is not the best idea or attitude, if you feel you are too big of a target in a pirate transport you could allways try joining the Liberty Rogues or finding someone to fly with you using a fighter. You can allways try to use a freighter or a smaller transport too , will make it easier for you to survive but you will have less cargo to steal.
I'm sorry if i wasn't much help, i haven't played in Liberty in alooong time. I generally stay in Bretonia or independent systems.

I just find absurd to kill a player who hasn't done anything and doesnt even has cargo, its like The Wild ID was made for: "Find people, kill them, enjoy their salt because its how your ID works".

Also this character of mine is a liberty rogue.

Just... really?

I don't really like the nomads and The Wild, i also don't play that much in the omicrons. If you don't like them i suggest you try to avoid them even though i think next time you should just wait and hear them out, maybe they wouldn't kill you if things went certain ways. I've been pirated before and i ended up leaving without paying and actually got offered some gold from that pirate because of the funny encounter.I suggest instead of just running from them or blasting them with your turrets just talk to them next time, if they keep it up change system when they are aproaching you.
This is the best i can suggest right now.
