The Construction of Jonathan Kalh's Osiris, Amenhotep | Biography of Jonathan Kalh - Kalhmera - 07-14-2016

Chapter One
Project Amenhotep
[Image: 2boBQlN.png?2]

In the year 818 A.S., we lost something most important to us. Our base of operations, Planet Toledo. About 90% of the Order fleet was lost and the Order again faded into the shadows to rebuild its fleet and one day return to continue fighting the Nomads and the Core.

The year now is 823 A.S. Nomad and Core activity has been increasing in the recent months and the Order needed a boost in its fleet power. While newer Osiris's are being built, it takes years, and time is not a luxury afforded to the Order. Jonathan Kalh was sent out to search the remnants of the Toledo war and to report locations of salvageable ship parts in the area. This task was not easy because the system was still infested with Nomads, and while searching Jonathan needed to keep his guard up. Any slip up in his bearing could result in his death and/or more time needed in finding a suitable Osiris.

Jonathan spent weeks upon weeks searching among the wrecks, but was unable to find a suitable ship worth reporting to Order high command. And until right before he was about to give up... he found one! it was 150k below the plane of Omicron Minor in sector 6E. Kalh suited up and left his fighter and looked inside the Osiris to see if it was worth being salvaged. After taking a survey of the entire battleship it is to conclude that it was indeed able to be salvaged.

The damage to the Osiris Included:
•Hull Breach on Port Side
•Cruise Engines malfunction but not destroyed
•Communications Array destroyed
•Shield Generators Offline/Shorted out
•Hangar bay door destroyed
•Weapons system Disabled
•Minor hull breach at The Bridge

While all of these things will take time to repair, it is the most suitable candidate for the operation, in terms of time to repair it is more feasible then to wait 2-4 years for a brand new one. Jonathan Kalh reported the position and notable damage to High Command and they came to agree that this was the best option. Jonathan Kalh was assigned to oversee the Operation, with hopes of commanding the vessel seeming few and far between sadly, as high command already selected a viable officer to take command.

The Order High Command gave a set goal to Jonathan. They needed this Osiris up and running in 35 weeks or less. All available resources were to be diverted to him immediately. while Jonathan, seeming unsure of himself at the time of this massive project, remembered what his mother told him, "if you put your mind to anything, it can be done." It has been the motto he has used all his life to get through rough obstacles in his way.

Jonathan Kalh broke down the plan template for the repair of the Osiris:

•Move Osiris to Omicron Epsilon and have it docked on Sicca Shipyard
•Weeks 1 -10 are designated hull breach repairs
•10-13 are designated for Cruise engine repairs
•13-18 are designated for Bridge Hull repairs
•18-22 are designated for Communication Array repairs
•22-28 are designated for Hangar bay Doors repairs
•28-30 are designated for Weapon systems repairs
•30-35 are designated for Shield Generators repairs

While this plan was being distributed, there was many doubts from Order engineers that this plan wasn't going to fall through. Even the selected commander of the Osiris was doubtful of Jonathan's ability to get this ship ready in time before the deadline. Jonathan prides himself in accomplishing his goals, some would say he would sacrifice people to get his job done. While that is not a most admirable trait, the Order didn't care as long as the job was done because, after all, the needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few. If we have to sacrifice 20 people for the survival of mankind, then it shall be done, with no hesitation what so ever.

Weeks 1-10: were extremely crucial, it was the longest project in the entire plan. This needed time and an eye for detail. if this was half arsed then countless lives could be lost for nothing, and that was something Jonathan was not fond of. The Gas Miners Guild were requested by Order high command to deliver ten shipments of hull panels for the repairs, who weren't off to a great start in terms of supplies. Apparently the Core decided they wanted one of the transports for themselves, and nobody survived. This was more of a drive for Jonathan to motivate his men into completing this task on time. 12-hour rotating shifts were constant and needed. Jonathan was expecting complaints and whining from his men, but to the contrary they all were motivated just like him into completing the task. We had a few accidents resulting in the death of 2 of our engineers. While it was indeed a tragedy, we had no time to waste. The malfunctioning crane was replaced and we buried our dead then moved on. They would have wanted us to finish this project.

Weeks 10-13: Order engineer logs reported mass engine failure during the fight between the Nomads, particularly in the Solid Propulsion Boosters. It was as good as any guess to start there and work our way up the list of possible issues. New parts for the cruise engines were coming in. It seems most of the old engine burned out as the ship tried to make a daring escape. Some sort of antimatter weapon was used on the engine because our engineers noted burns around parts of the engine bay. One week into the next section and we have made no progress towards getting the cruise engines back online, and time is already going against us. Jonathan received a battlefield report, which discussed The Core's advances through the Omicrons. Jonathan hid nothing from his crew working on the Osiris and informed them of the situation and the dire need to get this project on track. During Week 2 and a half, we finally got our break. Apparently one of the solenoids were malfunctioning and just needed to be replaced. Jonathan was pleased to send a report to High Command stating their progress and assured them that the project will be completed on time.

Weeks 13-18: The engineers made quick work of this issue, as the needed materials provided by the Gas Miners Guild were perfect. The selected Captain was nowhere in sight, and quite honestly, Jonathan was pleased. The commander was always down Jonathan's neck about "His" Osiris. Jonathan kept in mind that this Osiris was for the Order and not for any one man. It is for humanity, and to keep everyone safe and still fighting off the enemy. There were some minor complications in the last week of this project, as the commander decided that he wanted the haul of the Osiris a different color scheme than the color scheme of the Order Fleet. While Jonathan needed to get approval from High Command before specific modifications, he already decided to order a group of engineers to the task As there was nothing Jonathan could do to stop it, he wrote a report and moved on. The breach in the bridge was secured, and now comes the test. High pressure through the chamber that simulates an impact, but not enough to actually harm the ship was commenced, and it passed.

Weeks 18-22: Ah, yes, and what is a ship without the capability of communicating with other allied forces in the area? Both long and short wave antennas were blown completely off, and it compared to what the notes from the captain's log stated. "We are stranded with no communication to the rest of the fleet and we are surrounded". Thankfully this wasn't a huge task and Jonathan's time which he had allocated for it was going to take significantly less than expected. Which was a good thing, because the more time the engineers have, the better, and what better way then to use extra time to bolster the ship? To ensure that no radio black out would happen again, Jonathan ordered the engineers to improve the communication arrays and install a secondary antenna on the rear of the ship, small enough as to not be hit but large enough to where it can send out a distress beacon and call for aid. The Commander of the Osiris was not pleased with this modification, as he deemed it a retreat option and one he was not fond of. I assured him that it was only precautionary as he did not want the same thing to happen again.

Weeks 22-28: Now the hangar bay doors were an unusual project to undertake. While it seemed simple to just replace the retractable door that allowed Order fighters to dock and undock from the Osiris, it seemed parts of the door were jammed by a fighter trying to escape, but notably, this wasn't a part of the conflict that took the late Osiris and her crew. Apparently from the captain's logs, "Agent Smith decided he wanted no part in the Order anymore and tried to make his escape with his bomber. I ordered the bay doors to be closed and he bombarded them with his Nova antimatter cannon. In doing so he not only killed himself but left our fighters locked in the bays as the doors were now a combined mess of bomber and Osiris parts. This will later come to haunt us if we get attacked because we will have no fighter support and we are a very long way away from the nearest repair station." Our engineers were able to remove the pieces jamming the gears for the door. We removed the damaged door and fit in a brand new one. Only this time it has a fail safe that in the even of a jam, the Captain of the ship has the option to utilize the function to actually separate the door from the ship, to allow his fighters to fly out into combat.

Weeks 28-30: Now comes one of the most fun parts of the rebuilding of the Osiris. Weapons! With time comes new tech and more powerful tech at that. The High Command Approved the release of prototype weapons that are not readily available to the fleet. A brand new engine, primary turrets, flak turrets, and secondary turrets were delivered almost immediately. Order engineers removed the old and busted weapons systems along with the old wiring, as that was not needed with this new model set up. These weapons will turn faster and engage quicker then ever before, allowing the most accurate shots! Some problems from the power core seemed to be generating massive overloads of the primary ship functions as the weapons fired unstably. This was to be expected from the power core. Sadly, Jonathan forgot to re-calibrate and adjust for the power usage. Once this was done, the ship's functionality was back online and up to par with Order standards.

Weeks 30-35:The shield generators failed (to be expected during a heavy bombardment) Although they are designed to regenerate, obviously, these somehow failed to do so. The deadline was right around the corner and we have all but figured out why the shield generators keep going on and offline. All the relays were correct and operational and the shield combustion chamber was working correctly. We were able to produce a shield, but once it turned offline, it would not come back online like it is supposed to. The shield modulator went through a series of tests and thus was concluded was not functional. What troubled Jonathan more though, is that a busted modulator is how the late original Captain did not realize this. There was no mention of it in his logs and no reports from engineers. It seems everything about this Osiris was made to go wrong when it did. an Agent trying to escape and locking fighters in the battleship's hold, shield modulator failing. Jonathan believes that Agent who tried to escape sabotaged the Osiris for reasons unknown. He probably will never know, as this was long since passed and the majority of the data was destroyed or corrupted in such a way that even the brightest of the engineers in his team could not read it.

Chapter Two
The Dawn of a New Captain

X was to be the new and appointed Captain of the refurbished Osiris that Jonathan Kalh and a team of Order engineers salvaged from the war on Toledo in 818 A.S. For 35 weeks, Jonathan and his men worked 12 hour shifts to get this Osiris combat ready and back into the fight to alleviate the mounting pressure the Order fleet was carrying. With prototype weapons and a few bolstered armaments, it is now one of the most powerful Osirises, as its first mission was to head straight into Omicron Iota, where a distress beacon from Squadron 66 sent out. The Osiris Jonathan rebuilt will be put to the test, and the Order High Command saw it fit for him to be the Executive Officer of the Osiris as he was the one to recover and led the team to bring it back to life. Needless to say, Commander X did not like that, and gave a menial task to Jonathan. Often not inviting him to critical meetings and making judgments and decisions without his counsel. Jonathan often wondered how he would serve the crew when his own Captain disliked him. It was common knowledge the Captain didn't like him and most of the crew that were on the Osiris are the same ones who helped rebuild it, they were not happy.

The crew of the Amenhotep swiftly sprung into action to achieve the maximum power of the newly refurbished Osiris. The new cloaking technology that the High Command was able to spare for the Amenhotep was turned on and for the first time ever, Jonathan knew what it felt like to be an invisible force moving through the Omicrons. Omicron Iota was right around the corner. As the Amenhotep moved closer and closer they started noticing a much larger nomad presence. Jonathan decided to put the ship to red alert and be ready for a fight, and all this seemed appropriate for the situation at hand. But the Captain returned the ship back to normal protocol and told Jonathan, "I make the choices around here boy, even if we were to be attacked by all these Nomads at once, I still wouldn't put this ship to red alert. She can handle the damage. What? Not confident in your work, are ya?" This infuriated Jonathan but there was nothing he could do as the Captain had spoken, and it would be most unwise to go against him. They enter Omicron Iota and the sight was disturbing. Two weapon platforms and a small count of Nomad Predators. Fighters where dispatched from the Osiris and the Nomad welcoming party was destroyed. Jonathan urged the Captain to move as swiftly as possible as we do not want our presence to bring other Nomads. The far larger ones. Comparable to the ones who destroyed Toledo. But again the Captain said, "If you tell me what to do again, I'll have you thrown in the brig." Jonathan, at that point, was furious. He sat down in his chair, and didn't say a single word after that. The distress call led them into a damp blueish cloud. Parts of Squadron 66 were everywhere, with one lone fighter struggling to stay alive. He had a hull breach and coolant was leaking everywhere. we were able to save the Agent, but not the ship. It was destroyed as a precaution.

As we turn around and head back home an intense feeling came over us. Pain and agony was felt through our bodies. It was like something we never felt. I Ordered the ships pilot to move us out now at full cruise speed. But i fear it was not enough our scanners picked up two very large objects and closing fast it was identified as Nomad Marduk's, and we where severely out numbered. Jonathan sent out the order to retreat and return to Omicron Mu for reinforcements if the Marduk's should indeed peruse. Captain X returned to the bridge to find the new orders being delivered to the crew and ordered two guards to place Jonathan under arrest. He said "since when do we run away from these insects?" The guards refused to do so. They all believed the Captain was not "feeling well" and making "unreasonable" decided to instead lock him in the brig. He will have to be handled when we get back to Omicron Mu but before we do we have two Marduk's to out run. Jonathan ordered the communications officer to inform Station Taba of our incoming and the guest we might be bringing. We have gotten word two battleships will join us in Omicron Mu to destroy them.

The.Oblivion and |O|-Neteru Intercepted the Amenhotep at in the Omicron Mu sector H7 at the Omicron Minor Jump hole, With both ships on Red alert we awaited the Marduk's but to no avail. They did not show, It seemed they knew it was going to be a trap and decided to return home. Jonathan and the rest of the crew was thankful but weary about the circumstances. How did they know we had requested back up? It was something to look into but not dread for to long. for we saved the life we could and everyone returned home. The Amenhotep shined today while defeating lesser hoards of Nomads it has proven to be a worthy asset to the Order Fleet.

Admiral Golanski, Commanding Officer of The Order, has requested that Jonathan, the Executive Officer aboard the Amenhotep conduct a suitability check. It appears the Admiral has gotten disturbing reports from other Captains stating "unorthodox" and "chaotic" behavior, also taking reports from the crew of the Amenhotep and a personnel email from Jonathan himself. The Admiral feels that Captain X has fallen ill and cites some of his medical records to show. Even though Captain X has had a lot of time in The Order, his old age has become more of a curse then a tactical advantage. Sometimes old age can bring wisdom, but it affects everyone differently. In this case it turned a reasonable man to damn near losing his senses. The Admiral releases Captain X of his duties and appoints Jonathan as Captain of the Osiris and will be watched carefully until he proves himself worthy to keep the position. While it is no easy task commanding an entire crew and managing an Osiris, it comes with a lot of politics as well. Jonathan often repeated to himself that if his father can do it, why can't he?

Jonathan Kalh's Biography

Childhood

Born in 797 A.S. Jonathan Kalh had a normal life growing up. He had no knowledge of the growing Nomad threat that weigh heavily on his father's shoulders. Kevin Kalh was a young executive officer and his father, aboard Orillion's Osiris.

Jonathan always wondered why his father would leave all of the time, leaving him alone with his mother Kimberly Kalh. She explained what the Nomads and The Order are and said, "Your father has dedicated his life to defend us, and we should be grateful. He wants you to grow up in a world without the Nomads. He wants you to have a family and not be worried when the next attack was going to happen." Jonathan at that moment knew that he was proud of his father and would one day want to grow and be just like him.

His days consisted of learning Order and Nomad history. He researched the legendary Lone Star Edison Trent who alongside the Order helped defeat the Nomad incursion and push them back. Jonathan grew more and more hungry for knowledge. By the time he was 15 he had asked his mother if he could go to Planet Toledo for a research project he had been working on. Jonathan wanted to feel what had happened to his people, so he may learn from it so it could never happen again.

Kimberly said that it was "Too dangerous for anyone to return to our old home. The risk of being attacked was too high, and it was not worth taking the chance. Maybe one day when the system has been fully cleared of all threats, maybe then we can go." She often worried about her son, hoping he would not walk in his father's footsteps, but as he grew older she could see more and more of how much Jonathan was turning out to be just like him.

Chapter Three
The Long Journey

Since taking command of the Amenhotep, the Order High Command has given out missions, and the crew has always completed them, but this one was different. Going deep within Sirius and not having the support of the Primary Fleet could prove to be challenging. High Command has hinted that this could possibly change when and where we fight Nomads. It seems that pushing them back to their side of space is not enough. They're still slipping by and trying to set up bases in other House Systems. If this situation is not handled fast, they could spread very quickly. To combat this, High Command has decided to task the Amenhotep to venture deep into Sirius, Making use of its cloaking capabilities to survey and analyze every System in the known Sirius Star Charts. Collecting data on the Nomads, the Wild, and any bases currently being produced by them was to be their primary goal. If the Amenhotep is confident enough, they can freely destroy any Nomad or Wild base they come across. But extreme caution is suggested when handling such business. If they get outgunned, there's nobody who could come fast enough to support. Although the Amenhotep was made to alleviate the front lines, this is something that cannot be passed up. If the Amenhotep can't locate the Nomad/Wild bases before they become fully operational, the crew's job is going to get a lot harder. High Command will expect an official report for every system, noting every single detail that the Nomads/Wild could exploit. Currently the Amenhotep is docked on Sicca Shipyard and is awaiting to be fully stocked before its mission begins. Refitting locations have been given out and are CLASSIFIED. Only the Captain and the Executive Officer may know this.

Mission one: Liberty and all its bordering systems will be the first visit on the list, Nomad sightings have been high as of the recent months in that area of space in light of recent events between the LSF and the Liberty Navy, so it seems like a good start.

Mission 1A: Asses the current situation regarding Nomad attacks, Base structure sightings.

Mission 2B: Establish relations with Rogues, Hellfire Legion, Junkers, and anyone else willing to aid in the destruction of Nomads. Try any under the table non aggression pacts with Liberty Naval Forces. See if any of these organizations will allow Docking access to re-fit and re-arm the Amenhotep.
