We have a problem - Fica01 - 08-25-2016

Hey there.

So i started playing Freelancer Discovery again about a couple mouths ago. I started out as usuall: Mining, trading and then thinking about what next. Well, the first role i took was a Liberty Navy pilot (preety creative, right).

And here is the problem - a lot of people do not know about Laws of Liberty. Which means, when i stop them saying something in the lines of "Hey, that cargo is illegal here, maybe consider droping it" or "Hey, you cannot carry more than 650 people in a non-liner vessel" they just wont belive me. The only thing that matters to them is the ID. Their logic is that if the do what their ID tells them to, they are fine, but the truth is, they are not.

And here's the catch: I am not that type of player who will just shoot those people on site - I don't get anything from it, plus the roleplay experience will be ruined for the other player, and for me as well. My goal is not to scare people away from the server, its just to have the best roleplay i can get.

Thats not the only problem: Some players dont even know some basic server rules like not OORP-ing in the local chat if not needed or do not open fire on someone before RP-ing him. And thats just annoying.

Reason behing me making this threat is simple: The number of people not knowing the rules is alarming. And yes you could just say "Well report them to the admins" but that wont help anyone, there will be more people coming.

So I'm asking to make these rules/laws easier for players to find. Firstly. they wont even know that laws exist (probably), and they surely wont know that they can find them here on the forums (chances are that they wont even know that disco forums even existed).

Thank you for the time spent reading this, and have a good day!

It might just be that the players dont want or have not yet made a forum account so that they can read the rules.
or rather.. Not. They can look at the forums to begin with.

I could read the rules before I registerd. (And I'm fresh here - not even a month ago I didn't know this server exists)

I have met noobs that have been too lazy or just dont want to go to the forums, though.

That's why we need a better way to get them to know the rules. As i already said: it's not just a guy ,or two , it's a lot of them (we are talking about up to 10 players who have the issue of not knowing the rules per my play time with my navy character which is about 2 hours, maybe less depends on traffic). I just dont know how to deal with them. And if they are not interested in reading the rules at all, i think they should not be the part of this community (my opinion, just saying).

Here is the thing. As Nom said many new players are lazy/don't even want to go to the forums. And tbh we cannot help with that. Also if they don't believe you there is one simple line witch will solve the problem. And that is "Not knowing the Laws of Liberty doesn't make you exempt from them." Not to mention that every newly created ship recieves a compact version of the server rules in their cargo hold. Not to memtion the server itself advises them to visit the forums. There is literally nothing else we can do to help it out.

feel free to report them if they do something wrong, after a report we can provide an "incentive" for them to make an account, read the rules and then abide by them

if you have something else in mind..just share it with us Wink

unless we force pop-ups and spam the server with automatic messages of the server rules (sun)

That would be annoying as hell. And it would not help us either

It was a joke Tongue
But maybe if we could get the most popular rule violations and once in a while put it as an automatic message then it wouldnt be so bad.

Let's say... the rule that gets people a lot is: Do not threaten to report or act like an admin. Report offences to Admins.

We could just put that up just like the rule is about RPing before shooting.
