Daggers, Cloaks and other intrigues - Char Aznable - 08-30-2016 Deck 4, Section 3-B, Bruchsal Base, Frankfurt System 27/08/823 AS, 0937 Station time It was a quiet day on Bruchsal Base. No emergencies, no outrages, nothing. It was the quiet before the storm, as Annika knew very well. A storm that she had, knowingly and probably even willingly, caused. Following her controversial trial, in which she had confessed to part of her crimes, blaming Freya Eistochter as the actual brain behind the operation, she had become a central figure in Bundschuh internal politics. A development which she had never anticipated, or even wanted, but it was what happened. Eistochter had noticed the shift in opinions towards the "betrayed commander", as Nika was referred to by the lower ranks, and left Bruchsal in a hurry, and told nobody where she went. Nobody except for her closest ally on the base. Nobody but the woman who had openly stood up to her backstabbing politics, to her ruthless treatment of her pawns. Nobody but Nika. Still not officially in her old position as Kommandant inside the VWA, she had decided on a plan of action as quick as she evaluated the new situation. The loss of a commander always affected groups heavily, and the Bundschuh, in the very recent months, had lost two. First Erich Klugmann, probably the strongest advocate for a peaceful revolution and central figure of a movement named after himself vanished without a trace, with the blame heavily implied on the MND. And then, after the trial, as the "Klugmannist camp" rallied behind Nika, Eistochter left, the direct political opposite of Klugmann. If the Bundschuh was to survive, it would need someone to hold it together. She passed a group of young activists, mumbling as they saw her, on her way to the Officer's quarters, the hiding place of Michael Wolf, current leader of the VWA. In Nika's eyes, he was a weak leader, a mere puppet of Freya - something that she had been for the past few months. And a weak leader would not suffice for the Bundschuh to survive in this time of need, but he would be enough to be an instrument in her plan. She would return to the stage of the Revolution, but this time, she would not be a pawn anymore. She would be the one moving the chesspieces. With a sigh, she pressed the button for the doorbell. RE: Daggers, Cloaks and other intrigues - Omicron - 08-31-2016 Wolf, the founding father of the Vereinigte Widerstandsarmee was awaiting her. He sat at his desk burrowed in thought concerning future of the Bundschuh and Rheinland as a whole. Despite his extensive training as intelligence officer back with the government forces, he found himself to be far more efficient party leader than superior of military outfit. Finding himself in the power vacuum created by loss of the two most prominent members of the movement, he was largely unable to carry on as he used to at his movements infancy. “Nika, please take a seat.” His voice sounded grave and serious as ever. He took his duties to the heart. “I gave the topic we have discussed previously deep consideration.” He paused, looking at her directly. “I have found myself powerless to steer the tidings into our favour. Various sects continue to prove they are merely stupid cattle more interested at enforcing its own will upon other cells of Bundschuh movement than our actual enemy. I sought to marginalize them, yet I was beaten fair and square by the Klugmann in a system I designed myself. Now that they’re all gone, things have gone beyond any reasonable limits that I could exert my power over. Unity in our namesake means nothing nowadays and I have poor bearings concerning how to navigate nuances of getting them to do what I wish.” He was a veteran, long standing officer of Volksfront that predated Vereinigte Widerstandsarmee. With time he fell into shadow of more charismatic Eistochter, his friend that he was content with her pull the strings as they had a lot of matters the two had agreed upon. He never had ambition for power for just the sake of it, it was clear. Oberst Wolf was truly committed to betterment of Rheinland in any capacity he could serve. Nowadays however, he could not grasp the difficulties piling in front of him. “Do you have the necessities to fulfill this mandate for good of Rheinland, Kommendant Haupt?” RE: Daggers, Cloaks and other intrigues - Char Aznable - 08-31-2016 Nika smirked. Her machinations over the past few weeks actually had played out, something that she had never even considered a year ago when she arrived on Bruchsal, with nothing but a scar on her face and the clothes on her body. She had been lost, and it took her a long time to find her way again, but now she finally found a place where she could put her knowledges to good use. And the last obstacle on her way was about to be removed. "Yes, Oberst. I do. " Her voice was as grave as the matter discussed, almost ceremonial. There was no need for flowery speeches, flattery or any other way of convincing. The Oberst was military, and that was how he wanted to be treated. "Have you prepared the message to the Party, if I may ask?" RE: Daggers, Cloaks and other intrigues - Omicron - 09-03-2016 He could rest again, he felt. The state of the party he encountered upon disappearance of Klugmann and Eistochter proved too much for him to handle - they had driven it far beyond his original agenda, years upon years of altering his organization while he remained on the sidelines since being defeated at elections. He felt hurt about that, but admitted that the system was to be followed. Perhaps Nika could achieve what he could not. “Yes, I did. If I am to assign you to duties once intended for me, I need to convince them that you are proper woman for the job, Kommendant. We cannot undermine your leadership so early can we?” He held bunch of notes where he was working on his speech, seemingly complete and comprehensive piece of text he intended to support the new Oberst with. Despite satisfied with not attracting attention, he felt that his resignation would not keep him away from the spotline for too long. Might as well inquire now. “So… as you ascend to rank of Oberst, what will be your first order towards me?” |
