Does the admin handling on events need rework? - Wesker - 09-03-2016 (09-03-2016, 01:40 AM)Wesker Wrote: I really can't understand why this harmony event got all the attention it received. I mean there's no event request or anything for it and its still up here with 0 progress because of how bad the event is. I'm quoting this from the faction leaders section since it got no attention there. Probably because the bulk of the leaders don't give a No or support these stupid events. The harmony event and tridente blockade are both huge failures. Broken engagement restrictions in stupid systems that no one cares about, do you seriously think anyone can be bothered to go to Alaska? If you think so, the scoreboard disagrees with your opinion, no one is interested. So im going to ask this to the community as well as faction leaders, do you want to see the real awesome big events with actual RP BACKING THEM come into play? If so spam this thread and hopefully some admins or some people that run the event system will bat an eye. This is driving me absolutely ballistic MRGA was a huge success: The event also had plenty of RP backing as seen here and here, the event threads were both well written with the RP scenarios in place. But it received no admin backing for what reason??????????????? Meanwhile if you bring your LIberty dreadnought to alaska and tell 5th its infected the LSF will come after you and will shoot the 5th because jayce screamed to do so in TS. Which apparently is valid RP for admin backing . I really don't know anymore, I have zero faith that anymore fun events that are actually requested will come. This thread is sorta my final nail for this topic, if this thread dies I'm never going to bother putting in the RP for events. So tldr whats your opinion on the quote above. RE: Event system in need of rework? - Ruairi - 09-03-2016 Short and simple. I agree with you 100% here. That's all. RE: Does the admin handling on events need rework? - Wesker - 09-03-2016 updated i think thats the question i should really be asking RE: Event system in need of rework? - Shelco - 09-03-2016 Wesker is right, i still don't understand the Harmony event, it seems to be dead anyway since it started, other events should have more attention, Liberty as a whole receives too much attention, we should concentrate on filling the other houses. RE: Event system in need of rework? - sindroms - 09-03-2016 If it helps, I proposed a small adjustment to the current event to try and make it actually happen and to involve all IDs present - not just the officials. The choice at this point though is to either implement it to try and fix things - or ignore it and nuke the event entirely and move on to the next as it has at this point overstayed its welcome. EDIT: It should be said at this point that it needs an admin vote. RE: Event system in need of rework? - Thunderer - 09-03-2016 I don't think the two were bad events, only badly implemented. Save some lack of realism in the Harmony event and motives for the characters' actions. Perhaps Adenauer just wants to avenge for Liberty defeating her House, herself being Rheinlandish, but that's somewhat weak. Kind of like intending to slaughter billions of people because their ancestors let one of your sleeper ships burn. The disparity between the successes of official and unofficial events is interesting, though. Tridente should have even worked, but someone messed up some code, and it was "physically" stopped. I'm just disappointed by the banning of Yber and Tachyon. The XTF birthday event didn't have much less sense than the Harmony event. Hats off for Skorak's RP, but I think that ooRP stuff contributed more to the event than the RP. RE: Does the admin handling on events need rework? - Gagadug. - 09-04-2016 Agreed, I dont oppose to spontanous events, but the incredible time it needs to get a faction event running is to say the least discouraging. I'm kind of demotivated to work towards such in BAF| since I could expect to get it done.... yea when. I cant remember the last one that was implemented. And it cant be because there was no RP, for reference #1, #2, #3, #4 and of course the ones already linked in the OP. RE: Does the admin handling on events need rework? - sindroms - 09-04-2016 For those curious: RE: Does the admin handling on events need rework? - Wesker - 09-04-2016 You need to include all of New York for it to work. People can just get around that by smuggling really late at night when no one is on the server. Also you need to not limit it to official factions and 5th, indies need to be involved for it to work. But still my point remains, stop shoving off all the events that have been gathering dust for months and have writeups and more RP backing them and actually DO THOSE ONES. RE: Does the admin handling on events need rework? - Jack_Henderson - 09-04-2016 Events should be as inclusive as they can, they should be open to many sides and attract attention. That's what makes them successful. That's where the LSF-Harmony-5th thing fails rather badly. I could not care less about that story line. It's neither big enough, nor interesting enough - and let's not even talk about the oorp mess behind/around it. Official, large events need to circle around cool places, need to include player hub systems and relevant factions, including indies. Delta. Delta. Delta. There is a ton of cool story ends that were cut off and should be taken up again. However those that were doing it on a faction leader initiative are either banned or demotivated or gone. Rekindling this would be a good idea. |
