Rheinland Military Message Dump - Locke - 08-06-2007

Sir,
I must concur with Captain Topf. The new police force in Rheinland has proven to be incredibly effective, going as far as to even clear trade lanes of small-time pirates ((NPC's)). They've reponded well to distress calls and escort requests, and have even shown a healthy respect for RM's authority on a number of occasions that I can recall. They are very communicative, and vigilant in aiding us in our war against piracy and smuggling. I welcome their efforts in helping to police Rheinland.

Having said that, there are a few ambiguities in their conduct that have left me questioning their motives;
As Captain Topf has mentioned, they've somehow allocated a very large budget to be able to afford so many capital class ships. I've seen one battleship myself, although I believe Lt. East claims he has seen two. I'm left wondering: Who would be interested in funding such a large force? Or rephrased: Which of our cunning enemies would have enough dedication in establishing this force right in the very heart of our beloved country?

Secondly, I've noticed several Polizei officers have no reguard for the boundaries of Rheinland. Of course as a seperate faction they should not be held accountable for our previous war with the GMG, however, further acts of transgression in Sigma-13 on their part could easily reignite previous conflicts. They've pursued at length enemies as far as Omicron Theta. Are they the police of Rheinland, or the police of the sector? I'm impressed by their devotion to the chase, but if they keep rattling the cage we'll have every foreign government lawful or otherwise screaming for Rheinland blood. We're, in a sense, allied to the Polizei through similar goals, but we can't have them bringing another war with them. We only just reunited Rheinland from civil war, not to mention we're still recuperating from the 80 years war.

If I may be so bold as to speak this freely:
Although they seem to have good intentions, I do not trust them. My instincts have rarely let me down, as I never trusted the treacherous [Rheinland] dogs either. If I'm mistaken, I'll let time prove me wrong.

Standing Vigil,
Lt. Hartmann out.

Going past our boarder lines? Using ships they do not have access to? And creating their own state of law as from what I can read on the report I received.

It seems we might have a bit of a dilema, I shall be in contact soon enough.

Thank you for the report Lt.

Rheinland Military Message Dump - Dieter Schprokets - 08-06-2007

I have the following points on the subject:

-Polizei have been helpful to me and to traders on several occasions. I have on several occasions seen them protecting traders at the dangerous J13 Jump Hole.

-I was also sceptical about the battleship. However, if Polizei do intend to actually contribute to protecting Rheinland from Pirate Capital ships, they too will need Capital ships. One could have been very helpful if available to lift the pirate blocakde recently. Small ships won't cut it, as I know all too painfully.

-The Border Limits and System Limitations will have to be explained to them. We cannot have these guys blundering us into a war (ooc: Actually, on that note, I could use a summary of where we cannot go. For instance I did not know S13 was off limits until quite recently.)

Schprokets out.

ooc : They do RP very well, and do defer to RM. Couple of emkept calling me "sir".

Rather than see more heavy capital ships in our fleet, I would prefer a larger number of bombers. We have more than enough.

Official Business Communication
Recipient: Rheinland Military
Sender: Republican Express Shipping, Inc.: Security Division

Dear Sirs,
Last night the UOG attacked one of our convoys as well as several other traders in New Berlin. They were assisted by a Red Hessien with a call id of Erich_Roth. Unfotunately there were no RM or Polizei in contact at that time. Our security department took it upon itself to deal with this issue, unfortunately we were outnumbered 3-1 and were not able to destroy the threat.

Anyway the purpose of this communication is to make a request. As we are the main corporation within Rheinland we request that we be granted the privelege of enforcing the laws and regulations that you have set forth for Rheinland in your absence. Basically RepEx security would like to be granted limited police powers when neither Rheinland Military or Polizei are available.

We at RepEx apologize if this was not the correct avenue to go down for requesting this. We look forward to your response in this matter.

Thank You,
Adolf Reichman
Vice President of Security

It my understanding that there's been some confusion as to exactly where Rheinland Military's forces are to patrol, and what is to be considered off-limits (for the time being.)
Rheinland Military's first and only priority is to protect Rheinland and those willing to abide the law therein. Simply put: Stay in Rheinland.
Rheinland systems are as follows:
  • New Berlin
  • Hamburg
  • Frankfurt
  • Stuttgart
  • Braunschweig
  • Bremen
  • Munich
  • Halle
  • Dresden
  • Luneberg (Bunschuh system - Stay out unless ordered to enter)
  • Omega-15 (Border System, but due to the strategic installation of the Battleship Schwerin we have limited access)
As you can see, this is already more than enough space for our forces to be patrolling. The worst thing you could do is to take chase and leave Rheinland completely open, while you're unable to return in time to prevent something potentially more devastating. If an enemy flees to a hostile base within the limits of Rheinland, you need clearance to pursue. If there is no commanding officer present, or you are the high ranking officer, proceed at your own discretion and with extreme caution. If available, call for backup. I hope this clears up your confusion.

Lt. Hartmann out.

((OOC: Dieter brings up a good point, as I had to figure all of this out on my own. Can we add a section to the recruitment list that entails this information?
BTW, PM me if I missed anything.))

The smuggler, Veng2, flying a Kusari-made Destroyer, is to be destroyed on sight. His excuses of being unable to pay fines for carrying alien artifacts are not to be tolerated. This alien tech could very well cause another Nomad crisis, and, I, for one, will not let that happen!

-Richthofen out!

I am currently suspending my Kill on Sight order on Veng2, but watch him very closely, he still has to pay his fines. He appears to be compliant now though.

COMM ID: Hoffstetter
Rank: Lt.
IFF: [RM]-Ansel.Hoffstetter
Class: Bomber

After long off shore leave I am back and already have dived back into the fray Nova's Blasting. I have flown with many of the newer members inluding Commander Richthofen, Lt. Erich Hartmann, and one IFF responded Gunther.Rall.

I have intercepted Veng2, during a routine patrol at approx. 1900. His 2 million fine was paid to me at that time. Along with deep appologies as he had been flying many hours and didn't even realize he had entered Rhineland. He has given his word to not let it happen again.

At approx. 2300, Myself and Lt. Erich Hartmann, while patroling New Berlin. Picked up Wraiths on long distance scanners in Frankfurt. Upon closer inspection, we intercepted Shadow, aggrevating the space and engaged. Shortly into the battle a second Wraith made an entrance. I welcomed him personally with my Nova's. He didn't seem to mind. A fierce battle ensued. By some unknown technology the Wraiths managed to trick the friendly forces in the area to believe that we were Hostiles, and the local population rose up and entered the fight shooting at anything that moved. While the battle raged on RM-Gunthar.Rall (hope I spelled that right) joined our side and turned the tide it seemed for a short time.
I received a hail from Lt. Erich Hartmann, that all of his guns had been blown off, shortly after I believe his ship was finally overcome. As he hailed me later I do know his escape pod worked perfectly and he has been issued a new Bomber at New Berlin.
Gunthar and I continued to fight on. Fierce and fast. My bomber was having a hard time keeping up with the agile Sabre's flown by the Wraiths. Gunthar soon experienced technical problems and had to make a quick, but stretegic withdrawl.
I faced the 2 Wraiths and a sky full of locals. Alone, with no bats left to repair my shields, and a quickly dwindling supply of Bots. I was honestly not sure how it would end.
Then the Goddess smiled at me and pushed my finger and what do you know? Shadow was a smear across the cockpit of my bomber and it was just me and Fury now, and a bunch of locals.
I came around and saw nothing but fire as I was let loose on by Fury. Living up to his name after seeing his comrade blown to bits. He pulled his fighter into a tight turn and came straight into my double Nova's. Just a second before his ship exploded into bits I think I heard him praying...(typing about lag).
All of a sudden it was just me for the locals to shoot at. Knowing that returning fire could get me court marshalled I high tailed it out of there. Not until I had picked up the pods of the fallen police and Company men on my way by. All returned and safely dropped at Planet New Berlin.

Upon return to Planet New Berlin I docked and wrote my report.

I must say. This has been a great welcome home. Thanks Wraiths Shadow and Fury. Two great pilots I look forward to shooting down again, and again!

Lt. Ansel Hoffstetter out.
