Lane hackers and trade lane parts - pulha - 09-07-2016

Lane hackers should sell trade lane pars at their bases
It makes sense inrp

They are former employees of Ageira

"Lane Hackers are mostly composed of former Los Angeles Ageira Technologies employees who created the extremely complex scanning and database system known as USI (Universal Ship Identification). Departing the company rather acrimoniously in 750 AS, they have become a growing problem in the Independent Worlds."

Also they know of the shipments and how to avoid the security measures

"No Hacker has ever been captured, although various Rogues in the Independent Worlds have been caught possessing remarkably accurate information regarding upcoming high-value shipments. Security measures have been added to the software, but the Hackers remain one step ahead, leading Ageira security experts to believe that there are many sympathetic programmers still within the company, possibly being secretly paid off with the proceeds from the thefts. The Lane Hackers prefer to sell their information to others rather than do the dirty work themselves, "

This could lead to some interesting rp, like ways to build trade lanes in unlawful systems

But they have no ties to their former ties and want them to go die in a fire. Why would they keep making parts? Who'd buy them?

Not making lane parts but pirating the convoys of Ageira

Like it's their goal to make Ageira lose money so they feed information on high valued Ageira convoys to pirates such as rogues

As for who would buy it, well unlawful factions that want a trade lane in their system Smile

Well, to be fair, as a pirate / unlawfull you might not want a trade lane network in your system... yes, it would make your travels easier, but also give away position on your bases to basically anone who'd enter the system. No point in hiding yo base in asteroid field, when you have trade lane pointing directly at it.

True except in systems like omicon gamma for example

AFC tried to buy from LH some lane technology and they are not letting that go easy. There is a reason why the parts are packaged to detonate If you are not knowledgeable about how to open them up.

There is huge difference between obtaining few pieces of hardware and spare parts (in this case trade lane rings), and manufacturing and maintaining working trade lane. It is one of the most advance (and also expensive) pieces of technology which mankind ever invented and built, because it needs incredible amount of money, materials and high tech workforce. Thus I don´t think LH is able to set up and mainly mantain (don´t forget this part) a working trade lane. It is like expecting that bunch of workers who worked on construction of US aircraft carrier and then left company will be able to construct new aircraft carrier for some third world country just because they have some knowledge of how it is done.

Actually the lane hackers have the funds and the know how to build said trade lanes, what they lack is simply man power and the will do to so. In this case, the lane hackers are not just "a bunch of workers". They could be compared to a whole team that built that aircraft carrier. Blueprints included.
