Insidia - Chapter II - Char Aznable - 09-22-2016

Deck 6, Oberst's personal quarters, Bruchsal Base, Frankfurt System
20/09/823 AS, 1127 Station time

The Oberst's Quarters were pretty much the only place where she could feel a few moments of respite in the last few days. Between patrols, assigning and commanding, and the election campaign, there was not much room for her to breathe. She had even contemplated to begin smoking in those few instances that she was for herself, but so far she had decided against it.

In half an hour, she was going to give a speech to undermine the Eistochterists. They were putting up quite a fight, and especially a note that had recently ended up on her desk had caught her attention. To make sure that she stood on firm political ground with her call for the sects to unite, she needed more than the VWA. She needed money, and more political clout. And she knew how to get this. Wolf just needed to arrive punctually.

Wolf felt considerably more peaceful, having had ceded his position to Anika. Days were spent assisting the Oberst in maintaining Armee’s day to day operations, setting up patrol rota and the most prestigious at least for him: taking care of Ostara as the highest ranked officer with Military background. Officially an Eistochterist, knowing the very Freya far longer than any Bundschuh alive he had attended some of the sect’s meetings, enjoying support of the older veterans who still recognized him as an important figure in the Bundschuh. Oddly, a founding father of Vereinigte Widerstands Armee could had not achieved anything with the younger and more ‘idealistic’ of the militant section. Some have nominated Friederich Heissler, new and untested figure from amongst themselves, much to dismay of those who had joined Wolf’s faction.

In general, he has avoided any of the dramas that recently impacted the party in relation with the called elections for position of the vorsitzende. There were wildly speculating rumors concerning death of Hans Rorken, blame being pinned to almost every cell of Bundschuh. He was contend with very energetic (too much) and emotionally charged heated debates of Freya’s own outfit - trait very much inherited from late Vorsitzende and cultivated by many activists angry at current state of affairs. It was a while since he got any direct order from Oberst Haupt, but with the recent dynamic of events he did not doubted it would take long.

Once receiving the invitation to Oberst’s office, he went in without hesitation. The office that he himself occupied twice already, it felt like his own still. He was not troubled by the guards, his Rheinland Military uniform brandished with Bundschuh insignias and iconography found also on slightly more standardized outfit of VWA military personnel. Coming into Annika’s room, he saluted at the entrance. “What can I do for you, commander?”

"Sit down like a normal person, Kommandant. This isn't the military." She smiled. Wolf's straightforward attitude had always been a big relief from the political backstabbing nature of modern politics on Bruchsal, and she had to admit that she envied the man for that. So much so that she almost felt sorry for the political intrigue she was going to involve him in. Almost.

"Want a tea?" She offered him a cup, bringing a bit of order in the documents on her desk, facing the man with a stern face. "Because we have a problem" she passed over a Note, scribbled with hasty instructions on it.

"I still consider myself to be an officer of the Military, despite them fighting for the wrong side." Komendant in stark comparison to the Oberst was in good health both mentally and physically, unaltered by scalpel and augmentations. He relaxed and took a seat accepting the tea gladly like it was another day at work. His mood was agreeable until he took note of the script with fairly interesting markings. Rifle and a pen, it seemed like a highly sophisticated provocation to him taking him a bit to realize that Freya may still be at large to pull the strings. "First a prominent Bundschuh dissapears and now this piece of paper finds its way into your hands. It's like naval intelligence all over again." Done with scanning the orders, his sight turned to Oberst again now clearly more concerned. "Eistochterists put forward their candidate. Untested and inadequate by all regards." He reported back, hinting at possible correlation between two events.

RE: Insidia - Chapter II - Char Aznable - 09-28-2016

"I'm inclined to agree. The connection cannot be overseen." Wolf had seen right through what she had wanted to say. The Eistochterists were a problem, and this looked like they were organized. She'd have to send a few trusted people to investigate the origins of that note at some point. "That impression is reinforced by a few things. Most notably most of those notes came with crates in which propaganda was located, according to who found it. Propaganda materials that should have been copies of my essays." This was a minor issue, but an easily noticeable trick. The Eistochterists were aiming to undermine her political clout. She'd need more support.

"I have an Idea to solve this, partially. Rorken's disappearance... They got ambushed on the way to Bruchsal. And only a few people know about this route and when it's being used. Especially die Festung, whose job it is to make sure that they go smoothly. And we both know that Oberst Achen is no friend of mine. So getting a political supporter of mine up here would be a problem for her." She almost smiled about how sophisticated this plan was. It'd damage the Klugmannist camp before there was even a candidate. "Well, I need you to go down to Hamburg and tell that to the HVEB. Their support in this would be immensely helpful. And the Klugmannists murdering a Bundschuh official... That needs to be uncovered."

RE: Insidia - Chapter II - Omicron - 11-02-2016

“There is only one Oberst.” Wolf reaffirmed his thoughts, scornful towards mention of Achen. Still not making peace with fact that some sects would mantle the rank, often without even minimum of military training to back up such a claim. “Hamburg, then.” He confirmed, without betraying what he truly thinks about the place itself. That might be little out of his comfort zone, as his Wraith would not make it through the atmosphere without aid of orbital elevator - all under tight control of the government. Getting ‘cramped’ in a shuttle and reliance on someone else to bring him down where needed was not to his liking.

“I will see what I can do to sway them to our camp. After all, there are only twenty… nineteen to convince.”
