Lies - Unseelie - 12-21-2008

For sixteen objective years, a biology had been growing chitin spines in close orbit of the star. After the first eighteen hundred subjective years, the first creature had bent back inside itself, having curled in a ring around the star. It was composed of a photosynthetic fungus grounded on simple sponge-like structures. The sponge's cilia grew until they were thousands of meters long, and entirely useless as a sifting membrane. Of course, there wasn't much to sift, either. Food was integrated in each cell of the sponge structure from energy, retroactively. On the third objective year, self-reproducing factories had been deployed in the outer belt, and on many planets. They shot shears and rockets, boosters, bolts, joists, flashes of lazers and tiny plasma bolts toward the center of the system. A laser from the outer edge, shot a hundred years before, cut a spine from the ring, and three joists collided with it immediately, and then eight lasers bored eight holes, followed by eight bolts, each shot across the system, from varying points and dates. After sixteen years, the causality curtain fell, and a device emerged from the chaos of a distorted causality.

Squatting over the star were two objects. An array of spines, pairs pointing in every direction, over the south pole. Over the north, a huge column rose from the corona, with legs reaching down toward the ring, which was studded with thrusters and plugged into photosynthetic matter converters.

They are adaptive. Each device can synthesize its own replacement parts, and many such parts are capable of maneuvering themselves, and granted enough intellegence to effectively rebuild themselves, or build new models. They exude the cloud, a natural cameflage. Beyond that, they appear to be constructed from the same materials as whatever device might observe them. They are capable of discovering their complement from any civilization, and disguising themselves as such, so far as to expend comperable energies. They will fend off any determened assault, even unto creations of our own technology, or that of the Enemy's. They will permanently hide the artefact. It will never be retrieved.
For such a creation, worlds have perished.

After the causality curtian fell, the spire began to change, shunting itself along causal currents, expanding over years and seconds to form a cradle of spires which surrounded the superlight bits of mass which bent time toward their tips. The tips cascaded down, spreading over most of the surface, rotating across the million poles of a stellar mass. The rod, the iron hammer, stood ready to strike. The sun was armed.

Stellar needlepoint. If spacetime bends around gravity wells, and the universal spacetime is a spherical representation of a mobius strip...then stars are both closer together, and farther away from one another than normal space. Upon any region, the same principle applies, any collection of stars forms its own sphere. Choose two stars, moving at relatively the same speed, and they occupy the same space. Or at least the same time.

Put a supermass near a star....and then anotherone, near another star. They touch one another. This is how the fools have formed their network. We need to teach them gates, before they ruin it.

We've evacuated and sealed the Home against the ravages of time, or of war. Someone will know we once existed, eventually, someone will discover it. The vast deserts, the sand blowing across grottoes and monuments, temples, graven histories. Across every continent of its surface our relics are etched, carved, constructed from the dry earth. The Monuments our ancients crafted, reaching for the stars when we were so very mortal...and the millions more constructed at command in this later fear of our own morality. A history for every empire of old, every hero a monument, every race an art, and today, every survior a biography. Wherever we go from here, however the enemy might hound us, we are preserved across every stone, every pebble.

Though the homeworld might tremble, though we might be brushed from this existance, though the ancient monuments will crumble and fall, their replicas will remain, will stand the assaults of air and wind, fire. Be it even a charred hulk, orbiting inside the shell of a red star, be it tossed free from its orbit to drift aimlessly, or be it caught in the event horizon, remember this, our bretheren: A whisper, a record, a shout remains! We will not simply be snuffed out.

Eventually, in this universe, someone will discover it. Will know we existed.

Just as the causality curtian fell, as the last billion bits of folded material of a thousand different molecular matrixies colleded and fell into place, reality was decieved again. A hole opened in space, and then a billion more, above the star and every planet, every bit of rock in orbit, they spread, grew, and fell. As the greatest lie passed over the star, the device dissapeared. The color of the star shifted, and other changes were evident. A smaller star, slightly. A bit more robust, with a few thousand more or less magnetic poles...The home sat, isolated and pristine, inside a freshly virgin system. Material began to hurl outward once again.

Time bent back on itself, and was decieved. Across the galaxy, earlier in time itself, matter existed. Matter, in a specific shape and formation, existed in an incredibly specific place. This was normal, it had always existed.
And yet...a few isolated intellegences cried out in alarum. Causality had been violated! The world had changed, and they couldn't say how.

Lies - Unseelie - 08-08-2009

Just as the Home Sun had been armed, so was this one, this created star, this imaginary mass.
The lie was ready, and the deciever pounced.

Not quite centered in the great gate network, the hammer fell on a star that never existed. The hammer and a million spires, colliding into each magnetic pole, dragging existance with them. A plume erupted, existing across all the area it would cover in the next million years at once, and the blow landed. Those with hubris enough to name themselves, to call themselves in something approximated by the symbols Dom K'vosh, they would learn, to their horror, if they were capable of such things, that their point of origin no longer existed, caught in reality's reaction to a dozen, trillion lies told it regarding a pair of stars.

And where the hammer fell? There, nothing but neutrons remained.

Why should we show them gates, when it will lead to darker things? Our bretherin question our intent, our fear. Let us remind you, our bretherin, exactly the results of this 'stellar needlepoint' that they seem so proud of. Their deceptions do not maintian the subtly such a system requires...even to the extent that they're not deceptions at all. They extort the fabric, and the fabric resents such rough treatment.

Oh, their method? They've found themself a supermass singularity, and attached to it thier brutish propulsion, their blinking feild. They take it, and dissapear it from its great mantle, appear it somewhere else, where they'd like to have access, for whatever their purpose. At which point, they deliver such levels of energy at it that they sement it there, breifly. They then move it somewhere else, and do the same. In this manner, they construct their simple lies, and they maintain, linked to that supermass, even when they deposit it back into its moorings and its mantel.

What'll they ruin, you ask? There's a growing region, where each system contains, the fabric thinks, at least one, and generally many more, supermasses. Things dance lockstep, and drift toward the weights...and what's more, one can only extend a single object, from a single narative, so many times, before things begin to protest. Don't you worry that they've already overstepped the reach of this single mass, in tying the whole knot together? And the fear that they might add another mass...and do it once again...Let them stick to their constructions and their fabrications, and not tangle in the folly of apprenticing our art...or truely apprentice them. Elsewise, the fabric may not hold strong.

Lies - Unseelie - 08-13-2009

Do we teach them? Of course. Our other option is to surely meet our end. If we teach them, there's only a chance.

What will we teach them? Just a simple lie.
Nothing complex, nothing tricky. Just a simple lie, a discussion with the fabric which convences it of something that's connected..isn't. And something that is connected...is.

How'll we teach them?
Well, that'll take a more complicated lie.

Lies - Unseelie - 06-20-2010

Points of origin aren't everything, of course. When a star is told it exists, and exists, and exists again, and when the stars lie to one another, who can say where light, or life, began?

That something exists is enough to sustain it into the future. That it has no history of existing, only those things which keep histories can be concerned with, and they, they are sparse in this world of heavy, thick, and silent matter.

Somewhere, the matter sings with the lies told it. And the lies told it frame themselves in truth. For the world is build, bottom up, on the lies told it by other worlds, stacked over the original rules.

The first lie, then, is that things of complexity transcend their internal parts, such that the world can exist on lies told about it in its own language. The syntax of the world is error and fallacy, contorted against itself in a manner which is not quite dead.

It allows a flow, primarily in one direction, but officially in all, where one state can declare itself another, and that is called change, or time, or flux.

That is what we will tell them: that there is a quality in the world associated with the memenetic of 'time'.
They will swallow this lie easily, for they believe there is a quality in the word 'know', and if we tell them they can know it...they will try.
