Zoner ID line addition - Arioch - 01-09-2017

Hey everyone,

Really not happy with the addition of the line to the Zoner ID. Zoners aren't a PVP faction. They don't have a huge military, or really any actual military force. Instead of fighting, they scheme, they hire mercs, they get others to do it for them. They don't have the manpower to fight against paramilitary organizations.Yet with the addition of the line (even if it is temporary), turns them into a PVP faction in Delta. It allows for a ton of people to make/log Nephs for the sake of "pews". It goes against the lore, and goes against the attempt by myself and many others to make Zoners a fun and unique faction that is not centered around PVP.

On the flip side, Zoners SHOULD be able to defend themselves. They SHOULD be able to enforce their laws if they're broken. If they're attacked or their NFZ or laws broken, they should be able to enforce those/punish those who try to upset the peace. What would've been better, is if the line that is on the official ID be on all Zoner ID's, that they can enforce Zoner laws.

So, what i'd love to have is people vote on what they'd like better in this poll. Please also comment with your thoughts, but please be civil.

Thanks -

the delta issue can be resolved thru pacifism but bloodthirsty players only want pew. give them what they want until they get bored in delta and move on!

Accidentally voted with the faction account. Rip me.

Anyway, it makes much more sense for Zoners to be able to enforce their laws around their stations rather than a simple system wide kill'em all line.

I dislike the whole concept of "Zoner laws" in the first place. Allowing a shady, desperate group of people who explicitly left civilized space to get away from awful oppressive things everyone everyone else loves like laws and social structures to attack people in a system that has historically been a massive warzone, is on the edge of where humanity has tread, and where they have had violent conflicts with everyone else in that system, is a logical move that will finally let people start shaping their roleplay freely. Proud to be the first person to have voted for Option 1.

The line was added temporarily and should be removed after a week or less, depending on how things play out. The actual application of the line has no distinct difference than to allow players to enforce their laws and, unless we choose to lock the Laws Of Sirius thread and allow any amendments to said laws to go through the team - that is not the flexibility we are inclined to allow to an indie ID.

It should be reminded, however, that your perception of the Zoner ID is one of many. And not all players (or rumors) see the Zoners as all being pacifists. And even pacifists are not going to allow themselves to get attacked without defending themselves. The issue with that notion, however, stems from players interpretation of defense in terms of the server rules. As such - we gave the ID a chance to (again, temporarily) enforce themselves in that single system for the time being.

I think you are severely overreacting.
It is still up to the players to decide what to do with this line and nothing states that your character now must enforce that line on every occasion. It just means that if needed, for this time only, Zoners may also make sure to secure their own home. The alternative was to allow them to do this at a certain distance from the freeport only, but it would have been problematic due to the use of such specifics.

The line only sounds dramatic.
It is present in MANY IDs.
Let Zoner IDs have fun for a week or 2.

It will also save Admins a lot of reports when Zoners can finally just engage people at the Freeport in Delta.
And, tbh, they should be able to do that.
I also do not see Zoners as these pacifists, at least not if pushed.

This change is present only for the duration of this 'event', really. Once this is over, the ID will be reverted to normal. It will, most probably, last less than a week.

RE: Zoner ID line addition - Thyrzul - 01-09-2017

I guess Finn's point is that even in this short period of time people abusing this opportunity can screw up the work of others and void all effort put into estabilishing the current public image and reputation of Zoners in the past years.

You said yourself that it is up to the players to figure out what to do with this line. Which players? Those who can play Zoners responsibly, aware of and caring about all the possible consequences of their actions, consequences which may affect the entire NPC faction? Or those who fly Nephilims for the sake of having their shooty-shooty fun in the possibly (second) biggest toy available in the game?

RE: Zoner ID line addition - sindroms - 01-09-2017

Just like any other ID, Thyr. Please do not try to make it seem as though the Zoner ID is the only such ID or faction. Any faction has players whose actions may influence the roleplay of others, and it is up to the player behind the character to accept or ignore such acts of ''excentrism''. We are willing to give this a chance to see what amount of responsibility can the players be given. If they prove to resort to griefing, then in worst case scenario there will be much less inclination for such events to take place and at best - the continued participation of said members within our community will be evaluated.

RE: Zoner ID line addition - Felipe - 01-09-2017

Well, my 2 cents: i have a PoB in a system claimed by zoners, and with a fp very close to PoB, and i must bend to the laws of 2 factions close to there, but not really present on system. I do expect enforcement of Zoner laws there (or any, but only one by sanity sake). May very well help enforcing it Wink everyone enforce own laws even when not really should, like contested systems, or Hessians in o-7 being "The Law" so...
