Construction 17.8.822 A. S. - 03.12.822 A.S.

The Megalodon under construction

The Megalodon was built under the project name "GROSSER FISCH". The BDM and the Core have made an agreement of an exchange of technology, while the BDM would provide the Core with a "Donau"-class Cruiser, the BDM would get a "Bullhead"-class Battlecruiser for nomad research and operations that need special equipment and reliabilities. The construction started on the 17th of August, 822 A.S. and was done on Alabama Shipyard in Omicron Rho since the Core engineers were the only ones who could build this ship. The Megalodon needed a special hull that was guaranteed to resist heavy damages while operating within the Omicrons, the laboratory is specialized for nomad research and regular research and is easily moveable from one ship to another. The weaponry had to be a mixture of Core guns and Rheinwehr weapons while the rest of the ship was left how the Core built it aside from modifications. The reconnaissance modules are able to track ships down in the depths of Omicron nebulas. Only very capable and skilled engineers of the BDM were allowed to work at the Megalodon, any risk had to be detected and eliminated to ensure that the ship would not break down or fail while operating.

First test 822 A.S.

The Megalodon gets
ambushd by Nomads

As the construction of the Megalodon was completed it was sent on a checkup mission to Omicron Kappa. The Omicron Delta system was a place full of threats so the captain was prepared for the worst, as they closed in on the Omicron Kappa jump hole, they got ambushed by a large number of nomad ships that attacked the Megalodon, the hull and shield proved to be worth the effort, although the Nomads were able to de-shield the Megalodon and scratch the hull, all of them were destroyed before serious damage would occur on the ship. The Megalodon was then sent back to Alabama for the necessary repairs, it had proven to be reliable, though. When the Megalodon was repaired and ready for combat again, it was sent on another attempt to be sent to Omicron Kappa, successful this time, the reconnaissance module was tested on a potential order ship that was operating in the system, the Megalodon was able to catch its signal over 30 kilometers, the ideal range for the modules.

Arrival in Rheinland, 823 A.S.

The Megalodon at Schatten

In the start of 823 A.S. the Megalodon was sent Rheinland where it was supposed to be stationed most of the time if it was not on a mission in the Omicrons, the arrival was meant to be kept secret from the public as long as the Megalodon was supposed to be at Schatten. The whole traffic in the Frankfurt system was shut down for 3 hours on the day the Megalodon passed the system, it was accompanied by Rheinland forces only. As it arrived on Schatten, the Megalodon was inspected by the BDM's top engineers and mechanics to make sure the Core did not have any surveillance technology on board. They installed the VNN network to enable a perfect communication between BDM ships and the Megalodon as well as giving it access to the practical tools that the BDM provided. The checkup was completed and nothing suspicious was to be found, the Flotillenadmiral and the crew members installed all their necessary tools on the ship and their rooms to be ready for deployment 24/7.

A failed operation

The Megalodon gets assaulted by Corsairs

BDM Agent Diana Pearce discovered a jump hole in Omicron Xi, the Megalodon was sent to investigate this location, the trip to the jump hole went quiet. As they jumped through, they were attacked by large number of Corsairs and weapon platforms, they could not return since energy was too low for another jump in such a short period of time, so they fought and eliminated the Corsairs that attacked, heavily damaged, the megalodon could get away with no further information except a large amount of Corsairs in the system. This operation showed that the Megalodon needed to be equipped with a large cloaking device to enable unseen operations within areas like these. The Megalodon was sent back to Schatten to be repaired and re-equipped, stronger this time, however, a return to the location was not planned, as the Corsairs would most likely enlarge their defenses and make an escape impossible for them, the Megalodon was done with preparation and was stationed on Oder Shipyard until another dangerous reconnaissance mission would come.
