Event Update: Contested Systems 1.0 (Uncharted System) [PAUSED] - sindroms - 01-20-2017 The revision 1.0 is over and the system has been temporarily disabled for review of engagement rights, IDs as well as reports of lag after implementation. CONTESTED SYSTEMS UPDATE Revision 1.0 For some time now we had a certain amount of players wishing to do something more with their non-military characters, something that was taken away from the regular trading IDs with the unravel of the RM-LN conflict. Corporate rivalry and warfare was always a very interesting concept, but in practice was a highly touchy subject as even today the results of such play between competitive corporate IDs are seen as hard to play due to all of the roleplay consequences for it.
At the same time, I have also noticed another growing part within the community - one that hopes that there would be a ''wild west'' sort of area within the server, where certain acts of breaking the law would be acceptable even for a lawful character. After all, who would know? Who would tell? Obviously, while such roleplay also seems unique, it is not possible due to current ID restraints. With that in mind, the teams have prepared a little bit of something to grant these respective opportunities by introducing the Uncharted systems into the mod. For the time being, only one will be granted access to and we will see how things span out. This is revision 1.0 of this sort of event-centered system. Please note that all of the following information is a subject of change. This is the first revision of the Contested Systems mechanic and it is pretty much taking baby-steps. Nothing is set in stone and many things will no doubt change over time as we observe player feedback and ingame performance of the groups involved. While the current setup only involves the IDs and factions mentioned below, Military and other groups will be given such events as time goes on. 1. The Premise The ''Uncharted'' systems lay on the outskirts of the current regions, with the majority of them being located at the outer edge of Nomad worlds. The success (or rather the lack) of their exploration has come down to the highly unstable naturally occurring connections between them, allowing only very minor expeditions to be made. The dangers of exploration are many, with most of these systems showing signs of previous expeditions, including the derelict wrecks of ships that ended up serving as a tomb for their crew as a jumphole collapsed behind them. These expeditions, however, were not done due to mere curiosity. Raw resources are a finite quantity and as fields are slowly drained, parties responsible for the utilization of these resources are inclined to fund these explorations. At the same time, however, behind the facade of public relations and management, the corporate greed runs wilder than ever - often resulting in taking advantage of the lack of presence of laws and morality in order to secure these new profits. Cut off from not only the protection, but most importantly - the jurisdiction and influence of house military and police forces, the attempted mining and shipment operations within these areas are kept safe by hired guns and personal security instead, while the fear of public speculation and accusations of warmongering at a time when the prolonged war against Gallia is ushering more and more negativity within the civilian population is real - turning these systems into grounds where corporate clashes and the resulting repercussions are kept away from public view. 2. Race for Resources and Gunboat Diplomacy
Gunboat diplomacy is the name of the game. The Contested systems will, if the public test goes well, a new subset of territories with custom engagement rights within the scope of the server rules. For the time being, only one system will be made active: The Uncharted system, located at the edge of the sector. The main features of this system for the duration of the public test are as follows: • The Uncharted system may be entered by the following IDs: Freelancer ID, Miner ID, IMG ID, GMG ID, House Corporate IDs (Mining and Shipping), House Intelligence Faction IDs (+GRN ID)
• The Uncharted system has a custom rule design that overrides existing ID lines, as opposed to the current interpretation of 4.4 Furthermore, in order to reinforce the ''Wild West'' and "What happens in Uncharted, Stays in Uncharted" mentality of this system, roleplay consequences from IRP actions in this sector can only apply to this sector and may not be used in roleplay outside of it. * • The Uncharted system has multiple one-way entrances and one exit. The mining field inside is usable by all lawful factions with a mining bonus, granting them the ability to mine the custom ore found in this system. The full list of IDs and Ships capable of mining the ore can be found in the dropdown below:
• The Uncharted System gives custom engagement rights and lines to the above mentioned mining IDs, except for the Generic Miner ID: -May demand credits or cargo from non-allied corporate faction ships and destroy them if they refuse to comply -May demand non-allied corporate faction ships to vacate the system and destroy them if they refuse to comply -May treat all unlawful ships as combat targets, including transports • The Uncharted System gives custom engagement rights and lines to the LSF, MND, KPT, BIS and GRN IDs: * -May demand credits or cargo from organisations not belonging to their House and destroy them if they refuse to comply -May demand organisations not belonging to their House to vacate the system and destroy them if they refuse to comply -May treat all organisations not belonging to their House as combat targets, except for Transports Gallia lacks an intelligence faction at this time, allowance given to GRN ID.
• POBs build in the Uncharted System are NOT protected by the attack declaration thread. • Entrances and exits to the Uncharted System will change over time. System Information: Known Entrances: Kepler System C7 Omega 3 System G6 Resources Mined: Narcrahtite 3. Questions and Answers Will be quoted and answered here:
Quote:My question is why aren't unlawfuls allowed in the system to act as unlawfuls?A) The reason unlawfuls aren't allowed (along with military and other IDs) is due to the current issues it cases with ID lines and ZOI (it is really a mess to explain, so bear with me there). There is only one exit from that system, so feel free to hit people as they leave. EDIT: The theme for this particular system now is corporate warfare. Go give them some love. Quote:what about Spec Ops ID's that can act as freelancers? can they at least show up for escort purposes?Yes, as long as they are actual freelancers and do not fly core battlecruisers. RE: Event Update: Contested Systems 1.0 (Uncharted System) - Arioch - 01-20-2017 No Zoners? RE: Event Update: Contested Systems 1.0 (Uncharted System) - Emperor Tekagi - 01-20-2017 So this is your plan for the Uncharted Omicron I wanted to claim for myself D: Sounds interesting though! RE: Event Update: Contested Systems 1.0 (Uncharted System) - Apollon - 01-20-2017 Quote:• The Uncharted System gives custom engagement rights and lines to the LSF, MND, KPT, BIS and GRN IDs: *KPT now are on the Imperials side, so the ID can't be used by the Republic. Unfortunately, this is an issue which hasn't been solved yet. I suggest you replace the KPT ID with KNF one. RE: Event Update: Contested Systems 1.0 (Uncharted System) - sindroms - 01-20-2017 Some* of the KPT are working with them IRP. RE: Event Update: Contested Systems 1.0 (Uncharted System) - Apollon - 01-20-2017 iRP the KPT that did not defect to the Imperials have been joined into either the KNF or the newly formed KNI (Kusari Naval Intelligence), which also uses KNF ID. RE: Event Update: Contested Systems 1.0 (Uncharted System) - Emperor Tekagi - 01-20-2017 How about you have KNI being allowed to participate just like KPT then? (Only KNI to restrict KNF) RE: Event Update: Contested Systems 1.0 (Uncharted System) - Apollon - 01-20-2017 (01-20-2017, 07:59 PM)Werdackel| Wrote: How about you have KNI being allowed to participate just like KPT then?
