DESCRIPTION

Task Force Providence is an elite Black Ops division of The Order. Disgruntled with the status quo and the Overwatch's inability to respond to threats quickly and efficiently, Providence was founded to serve as a special task force dedicated to not only countering these threats but attempting to intercept and stop them before they become a threat to humanity. Rather than following the same militaristic and warmongering agenda of the Overwatch, Providence tries to keep itself closer aligned with Orillion's Order, observing the overall Sirian stage and acting immediately when they see danger.

Providence employs covert tactics to obtain information on and track these threats, as well as conducting under-the-radar infiltration and sabotage missions. Blunt force against an opponent is often the last resort; however when it is called upon, Providence will use no restraint and use whatever means necessary to eliminate the hostile at hand in order to achieve their laid goals.
Task Force Providence is almost exclusively dedicated to Sirius-wide threat response, and as such does not try to be heavily militarised, nor does it have grand fleets located in the Edge Worlds - which is why they visit less so than their primary zone of operations. However, Providence maintains a decent number of ships of various classes in the Edge Worlds to maintain influence in the region.

The Providence sees no profit or benefit in engaging and assisting in human-dominated conflicts, and as such, they are opposed to the Overwatch's policy of assisting unlawful factions and parties in House territories and other regions to achieve goals and objectives that do not fulfill the criteria of the Order organization.

HISTORY

The year was 818 A.S. The hull of the Thebes groaned and shook with each alien energy blast the Nomads inflicted upon its hull. And as the terrified crew members frantically tried to operate the ships Jump Drive in order to escape the horror, the families that hugged each other in fear gazed out of the ship's windows to observe the macabre sight outside: Toledo was on fire. It's beauty, destroyed. It's people, massacred. It's symbolism, reduced to ashes.

When the Thebes was finally able to jump to Omicron Mu, there were no cheers or celebration. The crew had survived the ordeal but at the cost of the majority of the Order forces. This was a turning point. The Order had not only underestimated the Nomad forces but The Core as well. Their victory from the Nomad war had made them overconfident, and they paid the ultimate price for this arrogance.

The Order started rebuilding what had been lost, habituating and settling on Akabat, the new Order Homeworld. Attempting to grow further stronger to achieve the Omicron dominance it wanted, allying with groups as the Overwatch saw fit regardless of their ideology and actions; terrorists, criminals and other possible threats to humanity. The Order's assistance to those organizations was not strictly against Nomad threats, but also against the regional opponents, whether they are governments or other rival groups.

In 824 A.S, A group of individuals, including Alexander Zeal, a former Primary Fleet agent, found themselves discontent and dissatisfied with the policy and the direction that the Order has been adopting. They had become disillusioned with the organization they were a part of. Even leading up to Toledo, The began to see the cracks within the Order, however, they had tried not to take any notice of them.

But upon multiple efforts of trying to reintegrate with the Order, it seemed like it’s foundations couldn’t have been weaker. The Order he was now a part of felt like a feverish military, rather than an organization dedicated to safeguarding humanity from threats. They began to notice the disturbing lack of response time when it came to dealing with Alien threats outside of Order space. The Core menace had grown much larger in the time he was away, and a far greater danger than the menace they had faced in Minor.

It was felt that the morals Casper Orillion had preached about defending Sirius from such evils had been cast aside and forgotten. And conclusions were reached that if such issues were addressed before they became larger problems, the Order would not be in the situation it was currently in, and many souls would have been preserved.

The individuals came in contact with Aoi Kunieda, a high ranking individual from the Overwatch, an influential Operative, and a hardened former Blood Dragon- who like them has seen the horrors of the Nomads. Sharing the same concerns and dissatisfaction regarding the Order, the admiration for Casper Orillion, and the suffering from the Nomads, they certainly knew that the organization was derailing and diverting away from what it truly is, and thus further measures to preserve the ideals of Orillion, as well as humanity, should be taken. Zael informed her of his new plans, and knowing that she may have the experience, knowledge, and leadership that took her up the chain of command, she would be an excellent candidate to be the head of the new task force.

Thus, Kunieda, Zeal and the others began to form their own specialized task force within the Order, starting to recruit the best reliable agents they could find - agents that share their ideology and concerns. And thus, Task Force Providence rose from the shadows, a Black-Ops force within the Order. Taking Battleship Atum as their headquarters, it would be easier for the task force to conduct its operations and insertions into House Space from there.
Providence operates outside of the Edge Nebula on a regular basis, taking the multiple Order mobile battleships as their mobile operating bases. As well as the P.C.V Providence as the force's flagship and mobile headquarters.

The division aims to establish a large network of covert operatives in high ranking roles within various regional organizations and factions Sirius-wide, in order to assert their all-hearing and all-knowing policy to further prevent more infestation crisis in said organizations and prevent threats from happening beforehand.

FACTION STATEMENT

Quote:Hello! Providence is an Order-project created as a collaboration between several players with a vested interest in the Order NPC faction. We would like to create a faction that more closely follows the (initial) NPC faction lore. We also aim to use Providence to create activity throughout our ZoI, and revitalize the Order player-base. Our aim is to get this faction into officialdom.

To clarify, our intentions here are not to antagonize or 'challenge' the Order| official faction at all - and if fact we would greatly welcome cooperation and working together in future.

We look forward to many quality encounters with the Discovery community in the upcoming months. Recruitment should be opening soon.
