Sender ID: Troy Augustin Recipient ID: Forlorn Hope HC Subject: Concerning a deal you struck with the devil ![]() Dear Knight Captains,
what I have just read on your recent logs puts me in a very distressed mood. Your decision is hasty and does not fit to the spirit of our group I thought I knew and admired. I am not sure if I am the only one in our group with these concerns, but I suspect some of us will feel similar if not the same. Honestly, what the hell is this? Not only did you decide to associate yourselves with the Commune, but the conditions you agreed on simply baffle me. Not to mention, you took this decision without any input from the rest of our group. I was told that important decisions like these would need a vote of approval from the rest of us, after thorough contemplation and deliberate discussion, when everyone is aware of the next step and after, in the case of, strong disagreements could have been resolved. But instead, I wake up to read a very interesting and depressing flight log, to say the least, with an embarrassing deal already struck, the terms already established by two of our Knight Captains. Just this morning I was flying with Elena and there was no mention or indication of such a decision. But in the next few hours you're about to surrender to the nomads. I am told to not attack these nomads, and if they try to harm me or a fellow comrade and fail, I am even supposed to let them go as if nothing happened? I swear, if any of those aliens try that with me, I'll destroy them and carry around what little remains of them, until the time I can drop them on to the bald head of that Nomak. I am disappointed. Under these conditions, I will not be able to perform my duties with an ease of mind, and I am contemplating leaving this crew. As it seems I joined through wrong impressions. You're not leading this group the way you advertise it. Knight Augustin Forlorn Hope END OF TRANSMISSION

You are entirely correct. We did begin to make a deal without discussing it with the Knights first and without any prior notification as well. However you are also wrong. I am not happy with the terms of this deal. There is much I would have changed. We are also not associated with the Commune, and will never be. I understand your disappointment and would like to point out that this is not a deal set in stone. Its not even a deal yet. As to the vote. There is a reason I have summoned you all to Glendalough, and this is part of it. I assure you, that while Elena and I made contact with the Commune, we are not the ones who will make a final decision in this matter. You, and the rest of the members of the Forlorn Hope will be doing that. The logs were hasty and ill-constructed and therefore misleading. Before you do anything rash or hasty as you believe we have done, please wait for the last members of our organization to report to Glen so we can deal with it, together. Thank you for voicing your concerns directly to us. Until we have personally decided on this matter, consider the "agreement" inactive, as it is. Knight Captain Stenn Forlorn Hope END OF TRANSMISSION

Hey Troy, you are not the only one who dislikes that "deal" Elena and Nick talked about. I for my part don't like the commune and it will be impossible for me to "safe" their pods. Also to point out your concerns, I haven't know about the meeting as well. Hell, would've I been there, I had told them to just shut up and get lost. So, I just want to tell you, that you aren't the only person that is disappointed by that "hasty" decision. Though as Nick already mentioned, we are gonna have a serious talk about that deal and we are going for an fair and diplomatic vote. I hope you understand that you aren't the only one that's concerned about that idea. Nonetheless, I hope to see you in space again Troy. Yours sincerely, Knight Captain Fenn The Forlorn Hope |▫|▫|▫|▫| Terminating Transmission |▫|▫|▫|▫|

In all honesty, I feel the dire need to apologize. Nick might not voiced it himself, but looking at what he wrote, I can tell you he feels the same way about this deal as I am. In the name of the two Knight Captains responsible for this gross and overly hasty decision, I want to apologize to you both, it was a mistake not to involve anybody else before deciding to have a talk with them about deals and truce offers. Recapitulating what has been said there, I must also voice my concern. My intention solely was to establish contact with them, and not to leave Baffin with an accepted and working deal. Despite this, I also have to voice my concern what could happen if we don't declare neutrality between us. They are in knowledge of the coordinates of our base, which could result in a blockade or even a siege, which again could make us unable to supply Glendalough properly. Or, in the worst case, would make us lose the base completely. We have got our allies and friends, that's right, but the question is: Should we really risk it? More will be said during the conference. At the end of the day though, as much as I could try to make up far-fetched arguments now to disagree with you, Nick and I made a mistake, one that isn't compatible with the ideals Forlorn Hope stands for. The only thing that I can tell you now is that we will do our best not to, no, we just won't make such a mistake ever again. See it as a promise.
