La Marine Nationale Gauloise - Diplomatic stance and general information - Marine Nationale Gauloise - 05-11-2017 ID: MNG ID
IFF: Gallic Navy IFF TAG: MNG| The Marine Nationale Gauloise is the reformed primary fleet of the former Gallic Royal Navy. After the fall of the Kingdom, the Marine joined back Gallia under the flag of the Confederacy and the Duchy of Burgundy. After the war with Kusari, the fleet was integrated into the new Gallic Navy in service of the Gallic Union. It continues to follow the traditions that were held for hundreds of years, working for the government and the Seigneurs to pacify Gallia’s threats and ensure peace. Now, the Gallic Navy is rebuilding itself in order to be ready to defend once more Gallia. I) La Marine Royale Gauloise
The Marine Royale Gauloise was the reformed primary fleet of the Kingdom and part of the Gallic Royal Navy. The Gallic Royal Navy was formed shortly after the crippled French sleeper ship reached Ile-de-France in 84 A.S. In the beginning, the main agenda of the Gallic Royal Navy was space exploration and searching for the other sleeper ships of the former Alliance. With the passage of time and the isolation of Gallia, as well as space flight becoming accessible to many groups and corporations, including criminals, the Gallic Royal Navy switched to internal security tasks. However, they continued to maintain a large number of capital ships and several research projects determined to create superior ships and weapons in case war with the other Houses ever occurred. Today, the Gallic Royal Navy is a powerful military force that can counter any threat to the Crown inside or outside the borders of Gallia. The Gallic Royal Navy has been fighting a long war with Gallic rebels known as the Council. Since 748 A.S, the war wages on over the misguided idea that the Royalist policy of isolation and preparation for total war is detrimental to Gallia and that the current government is oppressive and corrupt. The war ended for a time, but the rebellion that started in 794 A.S. on the planet Marne is universally considered the beginning of the Second Gallic War, a struggle that continues to this day. An Obstinate-class sending a missile volley towards a defensive force The current long term goal of the Royal Navy is to subjugate the former Alliance Houses, although Bretonia and Liberty are the main focus of the Crown's ire. The Royal Navy has been moving forward almost non-stop building ships, researching military technology, gathering intelligence, stealing technology, and training new recruits to make war. This ultimate goal, however, was put on hold by the Council when they managed to capture the Languedoc system, break through the minefields there and in Lorraine, and make first contact with the other Sirius Houses. This unfortunate event on the one side, made Gallia's presence known to the rest of Sirius earlier than planned, but on the other side essentially started the Gallic invasion of the Taus systems in 818 A.S. Within a short period of time the overwhelming Gallic Forces conquered the Tau systems. The Kusari Naval Forces were the first to suffer under the sheer amount of Gallic power, losing most of the Imperial Fleet in the process and essentially forcing Kusari to surrender. The next to experience the Royal invasion were the inhabitants of the Colonial Republic, which had to be evacuated from Tau 44 when it fell under Gallic control. Soon after establishing a stable presence in the Tau systems the Royal Navy continued its march into Bretonia, conquering the system of Edinburgh and ensuring space domination of Leeds. Years later, all major population centres in Leeds were in the shadow of the mighty Kingdom's flag. The war machine has raged on since then, with heavy skirmishes surfacing in Magellan and Manchester, along with frequent raids of the capital system of Bretonia, in preparation of the inevitable invasion. A view on Cortez from the fallen Betheny In 742 A.G.S, the Kingdom decided to give the fatal final that was supposed to bring Bretonia to its knees. A formidable force, the largest ever seen in history was assembled by the Gallic Fleets, with the reinforcements of several assets from the Core Worlds. The attack was launched during the last days of 741 A.G.S and would be known as the Blitz of New London. The Gallic Royal Navy managed to establish a siege around the capital planet. Despite the heavy losses inflicted to the enemy, they didn't collapse and they somewhat managed to achieve several victories on the Libertonian front. While a battlegroup was advancing into California, the Allies counterattacked in Cortez, destroying the Gallic forces stationed there. Nevertheless, during the first months of the 742 A.G.S, Gallia achieved several decisive victories with the capture of the secret home system of the Council, Roussillon and the sabotage of the allied Supergate in Poole and two Liberty battlegroups into the operation led by the GRI. But these victories would come to an end. In New London, the Gallic Royal Navy was finally ready to destroy the Allied blockade around the planet and take the system as a whole. The greatest battle in human history happened around the planet. While both sides suffered dreadful losses, one Gallic battlegroup led by the battleship Dax entered into the New London planet atmosphere and bombarded a lot of industrial installations as well as most of the Bretonian symbols on the planet. But it was clear that the Gallics couldn't take New London and they started to retreat. Meanwhile, in the Taus, the Crayter forces cut the main supply lines in Tau-31. The situation was seriously deteriorating in the Gallic Core Worlds as the Council launched a full-scale offensive and eventually reached New Paris, defended by a token force. The siege of New London The Kingdom was collapsing, the King after having fled from New Paris was attacked and left into coma. In an ultimate act of ressentment, the Kingdom ordered to glass Leeds completely with adapted Warworlfs on Triumph cruisers. This order, extremely controversial, wasn't followed by many, including the Marine Royale. Leeds couldn't be held and the Royalists forces retreated to the Gallic Hébrides, a small territory composed of Edinburgh, Orkney and Roussillon. Meanwhile, in Gallia, the Kingdom ceased to exist, but the Council wasn't able to take over, as two other states declared their independance: the Grand Duchy of Burgundy and the Minarchy of Provence. These two states along with the Republique formed a new entity, known as the Confederacy of Gallia. Loyal to Gallia, the MRG decided to return home and serve the Grand Duchy of Burgundy and its traditionalits values, as well as the Confederacy. The Marine Royale Gauloise eventually became the Marine Nationale Gauloise. II) La Marine Nationale Gauloise The newly named Marine Nationale Gauloise rested only for a shot period of time despite the war being over, however. While primarily serving the Duchy, the area of operations of the Marine was extended to the entire house and even beyond. During the first half of 743 A.G.S, the Marine rebuilt itself from the dire times of the war on the Bretonian theater. The Gallic forces also conducted several punitive operations and offensives against the Outcasts bordering the system of Lorraine. The Marine also played a pivotal role into the new diplomatic relations between Gallia and some remarkable Sirian organizations such as the Corsairs with the establishment of a profitable market between Gallia and the Omicrons. Later, when the Cologne-Zurich crisis took the attention of the Confederacy leaders, a detachment of the Marine was deployed to Zurich in order to defend and repel the Rheinland criminals known as the Red Hessians. The very few skirmishes that occured were however very successful. However, the Marine would have to face one of its biggest trial shortly after. The Battle for Burgundy In June of 743 A.G.S, the Kusari Empire began its revenge against Gallia by invading the house on two fronts. While the Kusarian forces were progressing into Languedoc and later Dauphine, another fleet was advancing into Lorraine. Outgunned, outnumbered and surprised, the defending Gallic forces had no choice but to retreat from the system in order to prevent the destruction of the main military assets. A new defensive line was built into Burgundy, just in front of the capital of the Duchy, Planet Nevers. Most of the Marine assets were engaged on this part of the front, but other squadrons also highly participated in the battles for Dauphine and Languedoc. In Burgundy, the front lines were stablized, the forces assembled and ready for the bloody Siege of Nevers that would come. The main assets of the Gallic Forces, the battleships Venissieux, Epinal and their respective cohorts held the line at cost. The Epinal was destroyed, but new reinforcements arrived with all the last reserves available. In the middle of the autumn, the Marine alongside the other Gallic forces counterattacked and pushed by the enemy in Lorraine. Having sustained heavy losses into the battle, they weren't able to stablize the front in Lorraine when the Gallic Forces attacked again, and the system was liberated shortly before the end of the year. Battleship Montmorency and its cohort. In Languedoc, the Marine took part into the final battle for Gallia with the Confederate and the Royalists forces that came to help the house against the enemy. Their intervention with the battleship Montmorency certainly saved Gallia from a complete disaster. The Battle of Languedoc was victorious, and the last Kusarian forces left Gallia, defeated. Nowadays, the Marine Nationale Gauloise is the reformed primary fleet of the newly united Gallia. It is the sword and shield of Gallia, working in both Gallic territory and the ever-expanding war zones. The Gallic Navy, the proud of Gallia. CURRENT DIPLOMATIC STANCE
The Marine Nationale Gauloise continues to follow the will of the Seigneurs of Gallia (// "Lords of Gallia - fleet admirals in charge of the House), seeking to subjugate Gallia’s enemies and remove any elements deemed undesirable. It continues working with the Nationale Intelligence to ensure peace and stability in the Gallic Union. Long-term goals:
- Rebuild the Gallic Navy forces: The Navy was crippled with the successive war against the Sirians. Gallia must rebuild its fleets in order to be prepared to a potential full-scale conflict in the future. - Ensure stability within the Gallic territory: The Maquis must not be allowed to terrorize our citizens more than it already has. Martial law has been put in place to extinguish the dissent. Rebels and terrorists will continue to be executed, so that the populace may keep in line. - Continuation of our technological domination: Gallic technology is superior to that of Sirius. We must continue to explore new technological pursuits to maintain this advantage. Short-term goals: - Diplomacy: Find allies that share the Union’s viewpoint. It is clear that turning everyone against Gallia will inevitably backfire, arguably again. - Enforce core Gallic values; Gallia takes great pride upon its perceived cultural superiority, which is one of its pillars. Its values must be protected, developed and enforced everywhere, at home and in its future holdings. This, among other things, implies the education and civilisation of the primitive, the unsophisticated, the uneducated.
A part of the members of the Gallic Navy are personnel that were recruited into the space-borne ranks of the former Kingdom of Gallia’s military. As a result of hundreds of years of propaganda while in isolation, they consider the inhabitants of Sirius to be less civilised, inferior in both technology and culture. They are condescending, self-righteous, and very blunt. They are overconfident, often going for the direct approach and, occasionally, underestimating their enemy. The nobles are hardly a unified sort and, once conflicts of interest appear, often end up in disagreements one way or another. The military is dismissive of Sirians, showing disdain to foreigners frequently - however, that did not prevent the more endurable some to join the Navy to fight for them, be that forcefully or not. The MNG is intended to be successor to the late MRG that served under the Gallic Royal Navy flag during the Kingdom. The base aspect will still be the same, however we will try to incorporate new changes and additions to prevent it from falling stagnant. We will remain very open to new players and veterans both. This will hopefully bring new opportunities to players who wish to play, try out GRN, or just end up roleplaying among us. We’re here to try to make playing the antagonist fun, or at the very least, make it more in depth than just occasional war zone fights. We plan to introduce political power struggles, more prominent nobility and conflict of interests into play - ideally, the environment should be dynamic, interesting and ever-progressing.
