Subject: Leeds situation

Bonjour,

Our last forces in New London have retreated in Leeds under the command of the Dax. The planet is actually suffering a major genocide. Our patrols revealed several independents transports trying to safe the casualities.

The system of Leeds will probably fall in the hands of the Allied. Henceforth the evacuation of the Gallic forces of Leeds has started. For the moment, the ships have to retreat to North, towards Tau-31. The Dax and his battlegroup has taken place near the New London jump hole and is ready to crush them if they dare to show up. As well as the Montmorency defending the Southern Flank of Leeds. The gate leading to New London is sealed and minor forces have been sent to keep an eye on it.

Yesterday, already, the Allied have made an attempt to take position within the system. However our forces managed to crush them with minimal losses. During the retreat of New London, our bomber squadrons destroyed enemy warships in number. The losses on the Allied side is estimed at 5 against 1 during the last 4 days.

To all soldiers of the Marine Royale Gauloise,

These are grave times, the Crown has abandoned us, not only have they abandoned us they have tarred us with the black stain of genocide. We have made multiple attempts to contact the bombardment fleet but to no avail, there is either no answer or a refusal to acknowledge our authority.

Here are your orders hence forth, the King has made his grave with this action, so we will let him lay in it. Your first and only priority is to keep you and your comrades alive, maintain a defense posture, ensure that as many of us can make it safely to Aquitaine as possible, we will decide further fleet movements once that has been achieved. You are under no circumstances to attack refugees or noncombatants, as for defending them from harm; your first priority is to ensure your own survival, but I will not begrudge anybody who’s conscience does not let them stand idly by.

Stay safe out there, for the hope that you may all see your homes and families once more.

Cordialements,
Amiral Nicodeme Guillory

Amirals,

After much deliberation I have decided to distribute these tapes to you, it details instructions and information from Amiral Chanteloup shortly before she went MIA. I believe you two will be able to act on this information better than I, now that the civil war has decided to fizzle out I am largely out of the fight for now.

We must make a decision now, either remain with the Enclave in Aquitaine, or return to Gallia and integrate into either the Duche de Bourgogne or the newly formed Republique. I personally believe our best course of action would be to return and fly under the banner of Valentin Trintignant de Bourgogne. The Royale Enclave is a dead end, viciously clinging to the Mad King to their likely deaths. The Republique I do not trust those in power to take radical actions against men and women merely serving their homeland, I’d expect those in the Duchy to not be held back by the actions and whims of the king yet understand and appreciate the traditions of the Marine Royale. It is ultimately up to you two how we precede, you are at Aquitaine and are in the best situation to act.

This will likely be the last communication you receive from me for a time, I will more than likely be placed under constant surveillance and house arrest by the authorities of Il-De-France until the situation regarding Marine Royale is resolved.

Cordialements,
Amiral Nicodeme Guillory

--CONTRE-AMIRAL, BARON EVERETT FONTAINE, LA ALGERIE, AQUITAINE--

*The screen flashes with Fontaine's comm-sig momentarily, then reveals the man himself.

Bonjour, messieurs et madames.

You've all likely noticed by now the general silence from la etat-major, coinciding with the collapse of royal dictate, the incapacitation of Charles and the disappearance of Chanteloup. I myself have been busy every waking hour trying to dodge bullets, polish the hull of my battleship and consolidate the situation in such a way as to maintain strength in this period of troubles. My shipboard quarters are decorated with intelligence reports rather than medals, that should give you all an idea of how the past months have flipped us on our feet and slammed us with a mace at full force.

As you know, in response, many secondary and Intelligence units have fled with us to Aquitaine, and continued to hoist the flag of Roi Charles and Marquis d'Avignon, in defiance of those who have denied us our final victory over the Bretonians and "western" Sirius as a whole. It's an enviable stance to take, for some, but it is ultimately foolish in my opinion. Scorched-earth tactics are a total waste. In my opinion, we would have been better off with precision strikes rather than saturation bombardment of an already largely secured target. Alas.

Those of you still loyal to the core values of Gallia would do well to heed my reasoning.

It will seem to be a very strange logic coming from me in particular, I'm sure, but given the situation, I find our lives to be a more valuable resource than our devotion to a lost, and likely, very mad, man. It pains me to concede my pride to the enemy like this, but if the Marine Royale Gauloise dares to make a stand in the Hebrides as it is, there will be nowhere else for us to run should we lose again. Our old nemeses have commandeered the Guillotines that we were all so fond of, and they will not hesitate to use it on us given an opportunity. We must preempt this with the olive branch before it is too late.

The plan is simple. La Marine Royale Gauloise will be abandoning its position in the Hebrides Enclave and shall seek safe passage to the Gallic Border Worlds, specifically the Duchy of Burgundy under the rule of Valentin Trintignant.

If an untimely end is not consideration enough for us to make a run for it, I beseech you all to consider the other reasons why I am making this choice. First, weariness. Gallia has been fighting for years upon years on multiple fronts with little substantial progress in the war, and little spoils to pay for the expense of all that time, hardware and manpower bled.

Second, we are hardly in a position to fight given the disasters of New London and the retaliation in Agincourt. The Marine's chain of command has been severed without an adequate replacement. I do not consider the Marquis of Marseille's claim to regency sufficiently legitimate to build a new command structure around, nor is she the Roi that I pledged allegiance to upon joining the Marine Royale.

Third, the Hebrides Enclave is in infrastructural chaos, and struggling to support itself. It is also looking too far to the past and the present rather than the future, embroiled in its desire to finish a fight it can no longer win. I am a businessman by trade, and be it in statecraft or business, it is always imperative to know when a commitment is unsustainable.

Fourth, it is my understanding that a number of you enlisted with la Marine Royale to serve the legitimate Gallic nation. That nation, it seems, is no longer the one presided over by le Roi. Perhaps that conviction still lies within you, even if the name of Gallia is changing.

Finally, it is also my understanding many of you enlisted to protect your homes and families from those who would seek to evict or destroy them. I am no exception to this, and likewise, my wife and sons would weep for time immemorial if I were to meet an unnatural end.

Thus, I have made my case.

It is up to you, sailors of la Marine Royale, to make your own path now. I am organizing, with the aid of close logistics staff, a convoy to make an exodus from the Gallic Hebrides to Burgundy as quickly and safely as possible. Any sailor who chooses to remain with the Hebrides Enclave is free to do so, as long as they understand the repercussions of remaining with that flag. That said, this is very well our one and only chance to secure an amnesty with the Core Worlds, especially if the Hebrides Enclave remains on a war footing.

Make your choice, messieurs et madames. Bonne chance.

Honneur et Patrie. Valeur et Discipline.

Bonjour,

The creation of the new Gallic Government is taking time. Awaiting this, The Chambellan Fontaine and I have started to gather the remaining of our forces for our next departure...The Enclave authority is still believing in our loyalty to the Roi. Thus it is unlikely they will find out our real plans.

We suffered losses during the final battle against the Allied in both New London and Leeds systems. The exact number of losses still remain uncertain though I managed to make a partial list of missing officers during the war. The listed officers have an uncertain fate. Some are presumably dead, MIA, or within the Allied hands.

Having those officers back would be a great benefice for the Marine in the near future and perhaps we could probe Bretonia in order to know if they have captured these officers.

Subject: Infiltration/intel gathering report

Bonjour,

Me, commadant Pierre Valliant, as well as officer Zacharie Micheaux and chamberlan Everett Fontaine successfully finished an infiltration mission in the Aquitaine system. Our job was to gather intel regarding planet Bordeaux, as well as make sure the enclave forces weren't coming for us soon (after the fight that took place in Languedoc between us and the enclave forces during our way back home), and gather information about the general state of things in the aquitaine system. The whole area around planet Bordeaux isn't busy at all, it was rather empty seeing as this is the enclave's base of operations. After checking on Bordeaux, we flew towards the Issoudun drydock, where we saw a single valor battleship fighting a small fleet of the bretonia armed forces of all things, that included mostly battleships and battlecruisers (and a single bomber unit). After a while, a single lynx fighter bearing the enclave tag showed up to help the valor battleship. Chamberlan Fontaine ordered us to attack the enclave fighter, and a couple of us did (namely commadant Pierre Valliant and chamberlan Everett Fontaine himself); the rest of us stayed behind as the situation was already under control. Soon after that the fighter was no more, but the valor battleship put up a fierce resistance before going down.

When the fight was over, the bretonians were surprised to see us attacking our own people, so we had to explain the situation to them. This was mostly a long talk between chamberlan Fontaine and the commander of the "Fascinating" battlecruiser. They seemed eager to find out the people who were responsible for the destruction of planet leeds's bases. There's also a possibility that we co-operated with them in some manner, though I'm not entirely sure about that. Nevertheless, we made clear that we're not the same people that (gladly) participated in the siege of planet leeds, and that we've parted ways with the people that did. The commander of the battlecruiser mentioned that they'll get a research going, regarding to finding the people responsible for the attack on Leeds. I suggest keeping an eye on the bretonia police authority, as well as bretonia's intelligence agencies in general, as they might try prying out information they shouldn't know.

After the long talk mostly between Fontaine and the commander of the "Fascinating" battlecruiser, we headed back to the Dauphine system. In general, the aquitaine system is pretty....empty. I suppose the enclave has set their eyes on bretonia, and are focusing their efforts there, but that doesn't mean we should let our guard down. The Languedoc system isn't far from their bases both in aquitaine, and in brittany. That is all for now.

Bonjour,
Today, I made a small reconnaissance flight in Omicron's Tau systems, after using Jump Hole, I scanned the system and came across a small Outcast base. I took a picture and returned directly to the base to avoid being seen by the enemy.

Bonjour,

In order to celebrate the end of the year, le Chambellan Fontaine, le Capitaine Florentin and myself prepared secretely an offensive within Omicron-Tau. The objectives were to eliminate any hostile forces encountered and exploring the area as well.

Our tactical forces were composed of the battleships La Concorde and Sombre Destin. The Chambellan took the command of La Rochelle. The pilots Micheaux, Ducard and Jean-Paul De Gaulle were forming the escorting squadron. Sadly, both Ducard and Jean-Paul De Gaulle had to leave urgently and couldn't participate to the fights.

We reached the Omicron Tau without incident and took position near Genoa. We waited several minutes till a whole Outcasts fleet appeared. Actually four heavy battleships, one gunboat and one fighter were moving on us. Quickly the fight started.

Despite being outnumbered, all our ships acted with a great skill. In a desperate attempt to destroy us, the Outcasts tried to surround us. We took the initiative and charged them. La Concorde suffered major damage but gave a fatal blow to the enemy. Le Sombre Destin and La Rochelle finished their remaining forces. Both ships suffered minor damage. The gunboat exploded while the last fighter ran away.

Before to close this, I would like to highlight the exploits of Zacharie Micheaux, who acted with a great professionalism during this battle. Impressive.

La Marine ends this year with une grande victoire!

Bonjour et Bonne Année!

Once again we raided Omicron Tau. Though we haven't found any potential Maltesse threat. Perhaps we already killed them all already?

We managed to get close of their Outpost of Genoa. We have found a new installation built by the Outcasts. Our forces will siege it and maybe those cowards are going to come back again.

We will deploy a fleet in order to siege it. Good hunting out there.
