Bonjour,

For the last few days I have been running patrols in and around the Southampton Shipyard area from the battleship Castres. We received word this afternoon from the combat information center aboard the Castres that Bretonian intelligence forces were active in New London and Leeds, either gathering information or covering blockade runners.

I positioned my vessel near the Leeds jump hole in New London, and soon enough we stumbled upon a Bretonian intelligence forces bomber who had cloaked, attempting to ambush me. We fought a rolling gunfight through the field where the Chanzy suffered no damage on account of excellent gunnery by the flak crew. I estimate we shot down or deflected no fewer than thirty projectiles.

The enemy bomber pilot, Jonas Hudson, withdrew after his craft was heavily damaged. Due to his superior speed and maneuverability through the debris field, I did not give pursuit. I did not want to fall into an ambush or leave a hole in the perimeter surrounding the Castres.

I am proud to report that our first encounter with primary Bretonian forces was a victory, albeit not decisive. A full after-action report assembled by my combat staff is attached. Please inform supply to increase shipments of flak equipment to the front. It saves lives.

Très Respectueusement,
Capitaine de Corvette Alaric Jean-Paul Favager d'Astier

Bonjour,

As part of our operational pivot towards Magellan and Cortez, I sortied ahead of our fleet into the California system to perform reconnaissance by force. I proceeded relatively unopposed up to the New York gate, where I ceased my advance and openly taunted the craven Liberty Navy over open comms.

A pair of bombers from the Liberty 5th Fleet were on the scene quickly, and they were not interested in any discussion, only gunfire. I gave them what they requested and downed one of the pair, and the other fled soon after. This one soon returned with backup in the form of an Interdictor-class battlecruiser, and I conducted a fighting retreat, sustaining some damage in the process. They did not pursue me outside of the system.

Liberty has revealed their response time to incursions into their own space, as well as the order and intensity of the forces committed to counter them. My personal opinion is that while some local fleet commanders are flexible, responsive, and capable, their higher command apparatus seems unable to leverage its forces to consistent effect. They are also quite dull conversationalists, preferring to lob uninspired one-liners in place of exchanging creative taunts.

Marine Royale Gauloise Mission Report

l'introduction

This document is visible to all enlisted officers of the Marine Royale Gauloise, hereby I, Christian Sauvageot state, that I have conducted service in the ranks of the MRG on the 27th of janvier 740 A.G.S. Honneur et Patrie, Valeur et Discipline. Pour le Roi.

Déclaration de soldat: Christian Sauvageot (Subject) Aldrich Louverture (interrogator)

Rang: Sous-Lieutenant.

Topic: Explanation of Events in Rheinland

Description de la/des situation/-s

Situation:

Bonjour Amiraux

On Le 23 mars, Sous-Lieutenant Christian Sauvageot reported himself to the Gendarmerie nationale on Leeds about a curious and potentially damaging event that occurred while he was engaged with a pair of Crayer fighters in orbit of Leeds. Below is his account of those events.

''...I wish to inform you of the events that happened three days ago. I was taking off from Planet Leeds when I encountered a large group of Crayterian ships. Two of their fighters engaged me and I managed to destroy one. As I was about to engage the remaining fighter, one of the Crayter capital ships used it's Jump drive to transport the fleet and myself to the New Berlin system. Where we encountered a BDM vessel who was, unsurprisingly, rather upset that we were there. Given the circumstances, I disengaged and traveled with the Crayer ships until we managed to jump back Leeds, at which point I promptly reported myself to the Gendarmerie nationale''

We have currently detained Sous-Lieutenant Sauvageot for the breach of national borders with a neutral House. However, I wish to bring this case to your attention first before we proceed with any disciplinary action.

Regards:
Aldrich Louverture
Inspecteur

Bonjour,

I am elated to report that the will of our Roi has been decisively carried out in the systems of Magellan and California. In two subsequent engagements, we have captured or destroyed two dreadnoughts, one battlecruiser, two cruisers, and one very heavy fighter. I will detail these two engagements.

Our first fleet action was a response to a Colonial Republic raid mustering in the Cortez system. I quickly sortied from the battleship Carcassonne through Colonial lines into Magellan to meet our fleet mustering at the battleship Betheny. We then entered the Cortez system and exchanged taunts with the gathering Colonial fleet. We soon engaged, and while our battleship engaged an enemy dreadnought, I joined our light force in breaking off to chase down and annihilate two cruisers and a very heavy fighter. A group of enemy ships was able to flee and I was not able to identify them before they departed.

Afterwards, our fleet dispersed. Some remained at the battleship Carcassonne, while I spearheaded an offensive into California with a handful of secondary fleet fighters (RNS-Darith.Pascal and Rachel.Aveline) along with a heavy fighter piloted by Mr. Polo Bett (MRG|Polo.Bett), the destroyer RNS Fauconneau, and the battleship RNS Bonne Naissance.

We encountered an empty Gateway Shipping superfreighter, which we spared and permitted to return to the New York system. We were seeking battle, not defenseless fry. We then set up position on the Riverside Station - New York gate tradelane, and that is where our next spectacular victory took place.

The Liberty Navy responded impulsively to our intrusion with a squadron of two capital ships, the dreadnought LNS Arvada and the battlecruiser LNS Moonshine. Their appetite for battle appeared to be lacking, either due to inferiority of local forces or a greater morale issue stemming from recent defeats. Either way, I engaged the Captain Stephanie Harrison of the Moonshine in conversation. The logs are attached.

Captain Harrison ultimately decided to surrender to our force and accepted my offer to escort her squadron to the Magellan system. In command of her vessel the Moonshine and the dreadnought Arvada, she ordered their weapons powered down and entered into a loose prisoner convoy with our squadron. I led the formation, with the fighters and our battleship and destroyer taking up the rear. We did not encounter any resistance on the way and we reached the battleship Betheny in Magellan without incident.

Once there, the battlecruiser moored at the Betheny and took aboard Royal Marines and a prize crew. My executive officer boarded the Liberty dreadnought with our Royal Marines due to its size, and both crews were restrained without incident. The officers and sailors were loaded on two fast transports and have been taken back to Gallia for processing and questioning. I took my executive officer and Royal Marines back onboard, and the two capital ships were taken by prize crews back to Gallia under fighter and destroyer escort.

This constitutes a great victory. Not only have we humiliated the Liberty Navy by capturing two powerful vessels without firing a shot, the hulls are in perfect condition and may be broken down for study or pressed back into service with our fleet. The hundreds of officers and sailors captured should prove to be a massive boon to our intelligence forces. I officially request that these prisoners of war be treated with the utmost respect and be given all necessary comforts and provisions befitting a captive. I promised Captain Harrison that the members of her command would be treated well and I do not intend to be made a liar.

Curiously, I have also taken aboard one hundred and four living examples of Gaian wildlife after tractoring in the cargo of a destroyed Colonial Republic cruiser. Please advise. The cargo hold is beginning to smell.

Glory to Gallia, and Long Live Roi Charles XI.

Bonjour,

Once again I bring you word of great victories. Before I begin, I wish to inform the command that my ship's issue with animal cargo recovered from a Colonial cruiser has been solved. These specimens have been successfully returned to their habitats.

Our operations began in Magellan, where upon meeting our fleet at the muster point I witnessed the final moments of the Liberty dreadnought LNS Columbia, whose reckless captain steered her valiantly - and foolishly - into our lines. I took aboard three dozen officers and sailors from the wreck, and the rest were recovered by the Betheny and other ships in our fleet.

We soon progressed into California, where we engaged an advance scouting force from the Liberty Navy and Liberty Security Force. All of their ships fled except for the 5th Fleet battlecruiser LNS Pasadena, who fought valiantly to the end. It is a shame that valiant captains often die, for they might have otherwise served us well. Regardless, we took aboard many survivors, fortunately including the battlecruiser's commanding and executive officers.

Curiously, our fighter screen was subsequently attacked by a Zoner fighter carrying MRG intelligence. It was quickly destroyed by our screen and the intelligence was taken aboard one of our battleships. Over the planet Mojave, we encountered a Maltese destroyer, the Asaralho. Instead of destroying it outright, we opted to board it. My Commandos Marine boarded the ship, led by my executive officer, and found nothing of note. We then ordered the destroyer ahead into the New York system to cause chaos.

And speaking of chaos, we next encountered the interesting Sirian pilot by the name of "Megaera," who is apparently known for her violent acts towards House government forces. In short order, I reached an agreement with her, trading some wine and port and in return "employing" her to cause even more trouble in Liberty.

We then entered New York itself, careful not to overstep our bounds and exceed the current zone of operations for our fleet. However, we happily traded taunts with the Liberty Navy and Liberty Police, who were far too craven, despite their numbers, to seek an engagement there or in California. We departed after making it exceptionally clear to the Libertonians that their government cannot keep them safe from our advance.

On the way back to the Magellan system, we bombarded a number of military installations on the surface of Los Angeles, sending one last message before ending our intrusion.

Three enemy ships destroyed, intelligence recovered, chaos brewed, and an entire House defiled at its heart. Yet another successful operation for our mighty fleet.

Glory to Gallia, and Long Live Roi Charles XI.

Bonjour,

I am freshly back aboard the Betheny from our powerful incursion into California. Countless Liberty capital ships have been destroyed, and Pearl Harbor is no more! Certainly a day to be remembered.

I can personally report that RNS Chanzy claimed the cruiser Theseus in the melee. In addition, we took aboard re-captured intelligence which I mentioned in an earlier transmission. Please advise.

Update. We have just sortied out to defend our position in Magellan from a Liberty Navy counter-attack. One bomber, one battlecruiser, two dreadnoughts, and one carrier confirmed destroyed. I am proud to report two were finished off by my ship and her crew.

Glory to Gallia, and Long Live Roi Charles XI.

Bonsoir mes amis, Amirals, Grand Maréchal, royal soldiers to le Roi.

For a relatively short time now our forces strike into the Calefornie system, destroying the local defence forces and putting the house of Liberty under heavy pressure.
Therefore I announce that la grand stratégie d'état has been executed merveilleux today and gifted us with a great victory!
Successfully the forces of l'enemy have been drawn out of their holes with our first strike on their base located in l'orbit of the so called Planet Los Angeles. The roughly prepared gathering of their ships was flattened beneath the fire of our striking group outside of their planetary defence systems. Well executed!
The second attack was directly forwarded on their installation. The heavily weakened defence forces and the little reinforcements could not pose a thread to our might!
The destiny of the installation was truly preordained!
The system is entirely wiped from hostile acitvities due to our great work!
Splendid, my fellow soldiers!

For the record, in their desperation the libertonian fools tried to counter our efforts by sending a small battlegroup to Magellan, directly to the heart of battlegroup Betheny. They were rightfully destroyed aswell!

On Behalf,

Sincèrement
de Justéton, Jean Yves Patrice, amiral
Le cannonier de Marine Royal Gauloise

Text message to all personnel, from Amiral Isabelle Montlaville de Chanteloup

Topic : status of current operations and personnel-related announcements

Bonjour,

As promised, these last few weeks have seen many hard-fought battles. Tremendous effort has been demanded of all of you, and you've been up to the task. Liberty is now fully aware of the position it's found itself in by foolishly attempting to rescue their Bretonian cousins. Mere hours ago, I have been informed by commandant Favager's report of the utter annihilation of Pearl Harbour shipyard, in the heart of Californie. This heavily fortified installation has been a significant thorn in our side for the total duration of our operations in the area, keeping our enemies well provisioned and ready while we were away from our supply lines.

At great cost, and thanks to the heroic bravery of our pilots and commanders, that problem has been solved. As my valet types this, I have ordered preliminary work to research and prepare for our next advance into Liberty. While it is too early to divulge details, you will soon find that the frontline has been pushed further, ever closer to the black heart of Liberty. With Pearl Harbour gone and the many victories we've earned these past few weeks, I am confident that the time to move forward is almost upon us. Our momentum has been built, it is now in full motion. There will be nothing to stand against you. Not even the valiant efforts displayed by the Liberty navy during our recent scuffles. Remember your enemies, for they have shown remarkable valor in the defence of their homeland.

The death throes of Pearl Harbour under the might of the combined arms of the Marine Gauloise.

In the meantime, operations in Bretonia are continuing, though in a different fashion. While we amass forces and train for a massive, frontal assault on Londonian positions, Bretonian forces and supply lines have been kept busy thanks to the corvettes and combat transports of the Gallant Gallic Gunboat Gobbler Group, or 5G. They've scored significant victories waging irregular warfare and have proven very useful in tying up regular forces and capturing resources destined to the adversary. For a new unit, their operational results are to be commended. I have ordered more personnel to be encouraged to join it, and more resources to be allocated to it.

Repossessed gold, appropriated by a detachment of 5G combat transports.

Finally, Kusari. Those of you blessed with the ability to read will have picked up on recent changes in Kusari politics. The hardlining Exiles, our bitter enemies, have been integrated into the official, legitimate government, which itself has become significantly more authoritarian. This can't bode well. We do not need a third front right now. I have decided that we shouldn't give them the comfort of even contemplating the idea to strike back at us. They will be presented with the full effect of our power projection capabilities and simultaneously reminded that we'd very much like for them to remain our friends. More will be disclosed about Opération Baliste very soon. I can already say that cruiser and battleship commanders will be sollicited.

A victorious battlegroup assembled in Californie.

There is much for you to be proud about, soldiers. But there's even more to be done. There will be no laurels to rest on in this navy as long as the Gallic banner is not floating to the winds of London and Manhattan.

Promotions and rewards

The following was NOT written by Isabelle Montlaville de Chanteloup, who "had much better things to do than pat people on the head for doing their job". - AM Montlaville's valet

The unmatched power of our arsenals would be for naught, were it now for those men and women manning them and putting them to great use. The following individuals have brought great honour to their name by serving their King with distinction, professionalism and dedication. As always, Gallia ensures that everyone gets what they deserve.

- Capitaine de corvette Alaric Jean-Paul Favager d'Astier has been elevated to the rank of capitaine de frégate, which he held in his previous position. Ever ready, never far from the frontlines, he's been the most dedicated of our officers over the past months. The Chanzy has started to write its own legend in the ranks of the Marine Royale : its constant sight is a relief to all but its foes. His many, well-detailed reports are a valued legacy to the Marine Royale : the Etat-major hopes his alacrity and unwavering dedication will inspire all from matelot to amiral. Carry on, commandant : your subordinates look up to you, your superiors expect even more. For your various combat actions, fifty million franks have been wired to your personal accounts. By royal decree, Alaric Jean-Paul Favager d'Astier has been chosen to receive a title of Chevalier, the attribute of which he will be allowed to choose for himself (an object, a place, a saint...).

- Capitaine de frégate Everett Fontaine has been elevated to the rank of capitaine de vaisseau and will be granted superior training at the prestigious Ecole de Guerre. In the short time since he's willingly transferred himself from the Avant Garde to the Marine Royale, he has demonstrated impossible levels of finesse, honoured his obligations as Chambellan, and has become the personnification of Gallic virtue to the personnel of the Marine. His words hit as hard as his leadership skills : the Algérie, possibly the most elegant warship in Sirius, has an imposing presence, and the Félin Majestique has become a dreaded sight to the Bretonian war profiteers. The King watches you as you watch for our people : you have gained his trust, and now you will endeavour to honour it. By royal decree, Everett Fontaine has been chosen to receive a title of Chevalier, the attribute of which he will be allowed to choose for himself (an object, a place, a saint...).

- Capitaine de Vaisseau Pierre Vincent du Petit Thouars, vicomte du Plateau des Coucous has been elevated to the rank of contre-amiral. His dedication is without fault, his presence a great factor of unity and cohesion through any battlegroup. His administrative delegation skills have left people in the Etat-major mute with admiration, and his command of the Bonne naissance, always in the thick of the battle line, has lent him a distinct, inspiring aura. His contribution to the 5G unit has also been remarkable and talks of his actions at the helm of the Bateau Ivre are whispered of in awe in the shadiest Bretonian underworlds. This versatility and exceptional dedication have been your ticket to making Contre-amiral : one does not simply jump to that rank and rest on their laurels. Your former rival has become your peer : the Etat-major is curious to see what will come of this. Outdo yourself. By royal decree, Pierre Vincent du Petit Thouars has been chosen to receive a title of Chevalier, the attribute of which he will be allowed to choose for himself (an object, a place, a saint...). This will have no incidence on his lordship over the Plateau des Coucous.

- Contre-amiral Jean-Yves Patrice de Justéton is officially commended for his work in keeping the Bétheny battlegroup well provisioned, despite it being beneath his current functions. His actions aboard the Ressentiment have, once again, been remarkable and add up to an ever increasing track record. New heroes are always a welcome sight to the Marine Royale, but reliable veterans are what keep us with a clear advantage over our primitive foes. By royal decree, Jean-Yves Patrice de Justéton has been chosen to receive a title of Chevalier, the attribute of which he will be allowed to choose for himself (an object, a place, a saint...).

- Quartier-maître Chef Polo Bett is elevated to the rank of Maître. Though discreet, this new recruit has proven to be very reliable, loyal and fearless, even in the face of overwhelming odds. The Etat-major hopes for this promotion to be the first of many more to come and counts on Maître Polo Bett to keep honing his skills and tapping into his significant potential. Welcome among the officiers mariniers, maître. A new family welcomes you, and with it, new responsibilities, and new possibilities as well. Thirty million franks will be wired to the account of your choice, in reconnaissance of your actions.

As a last note, the Etat-major reminds all personnel that several offices and functions are still vacant. Do not hesitate to apply if you feel you would be a good fit. The Marine needs you.

All personnel listed to receive titles of nobility will promptly receive an invitation to an official ceremony, where they will be formally annointed to their new titles. Attendance is mandatory. Friends and family are encouraged to attend.

That will be all.

Honneur, Patrie, Valeur, Discipline.
