[LN] Liberty Navy First Fleet Recruitment

I was born in a town known for its skiing and snow. Growing up amongst tourists and the elite of Liberty who came to vacation there exposed me to a side of society gilded in wealth and prestige. My father's status as a prominent partner in one of Denver's most powerful law firms meant a sheltered life for me. For years, I lived a life with other children who found themselves equally "protected" from the grim realities of the world that was quite different from the sleepy vacation town I lived in. Good grades, some degree of motivation not commonly found in most schoolgirls, and money got me into a prestigious high school, which eventually took me on a Junior-year class trip to Planet Houston.

For the first time in my life, I was exposed to something beyond the invisible walls held upright by my parents. That day, I lost something, but gained something at the same time. I felt like Buddha emerging from the walls that held his person and his soul in from the rest of the world. Influenced by my parents, I delved into that world with the tools I had inherited: the law. Idealistic and driven by a sense of justice, I worked with various agencies dedicated to the defense of the presumed innocent. Criminal Law appealed to me, because to me, it represented the key to solving the root of the problems in Liberty. I spent years learning the law - not the actual knowledge, but rather, the wealth of knowledge that one needed to maneuver the halls of our legal system.

I graduated from Manhattan Law with honors, and began work as an Assistant District Attorney. It became my job to protect the innocent, and to defend them against the criminals who used the same tools I used as weapons to harm. I returned home for a year in 815 after becoming a victim to the crimes I tried to stop as an ADA. Watching the snowy flakes float down and settle around my hometown, I realized that I had to keep things in perspective, that there was more to protect. Greater issues that needed to be dealt with. This is why I requested a transfer from the District Attorney's office to the Liberty Navy Judge-Advocate General's Corps.

Despite the fact that I am not a pilot of any sort, I am answering my country's call for bodies against injustice and corruption.

Born just before the Nomad war, Dudley was raised in the outskirts of Manhattan's main city. Life was fairly mundane, except for the occassional thuggery that his parents did their best to shield him from. Growing up, he was a fairly quiet child. His sister, four years younger than him, illicited a change to his demeanor to the extent that he became quite extraverted, but also addressed most with genuine and constant courtesy. Dudley is not one to let his emotions dicate his actions, a skill learned from the constant bickering in his earlier life by his sister. Because of this, staff at all of his educational institutions noted that he was a pleasure to speak to, despite sometimes being slightly braindead when it came to academics.

Dudley often spoke to his friends about his dreams to be this or that, but that never included the Navy. He dreamed of occupations such as professional racing, commercial space travel, even a quiet paperwork-oriented job during the more hectic periods of his life. In fact, his parents both became increasingly nationalistic as the first small tensions with Rheinland came into public light, using all the means at their disposal to push him into service. He didn't mind at the time, since he could never imagine Liberty and Rheinland at war. As the tensions started to become more obvious during his time in the Academy, he began to fear giving his life away at such a young age. He had more to live for than that, he thought. On contacting his parents again, they had suddenly become much less nationalistic, leading Dudley to believe that it was a ploy to get him out of the house and earning a living. He felt a huge amount of resentment, but looked back on his life, and realised that the dreaming he had done had made him oblivious to the financial strains being put on the family.

This gave him a new sense of motivation, to be more than useless to himself, his friends, his family and his country. The camaraderie in the Navy suddenly became more bearable, and he found himself studying, and playing harder. Both the bookwork and the hard drinking on a friday night became part and parcel of his days in the Academy, and he graduated in the middle of his class. A good achievement, having made strong friendships, enjoyed his time and proving to himself that he could be an asset to everyone, rather than a liability. He aims to prove this to his country first, but also to his family, who could be construed to have cast him out for that very reason. He aims to return to his family as a man.

I was born outside Liberty, but ever since I was born, I knew that I was destined to take names - and that is my intention. Although I've been happy working as a test pilot for Drake-Northerlyn on Planet Denver, I decided that I wanted to feel the real rush of nailing a real target instead of a test simulation.

I have long felt the urge to travel at high velocities and hold down buttons until my opponents become nothing but small white squares.

I am here to defend my country and to feel the rush of being a Liberty Navy pilot. It is my dream to protect the people, beliefs, and values of the nation that I love and call home. Whatever forces stand in our way, be they sausage eating krauts, noodle-chompers, tea-drinkers, or baguettes with mustaches, I want to be part of the force that ends them.
