The BMM needs your help in Dublin! - Darkseid667 - 10-23-2017

===== Important News! =====

The BMM Goldgeist is about to be attacked by the Mollys and needs your help! They might be coming in a few hours, hopefully they don't bring anything larger than gunboats and destroyers. To all lawful and Bretonian pilots, please have an eye open for Molly activity in the Dublin System and aid us in our defense. Donations of Reinforced Alloy, Robotic Hardware or Hull Segments are gratefully accepted.

But we decided to put a bounty on hostile ships that dare to attack our base in Dublin:

Every gunboat or fighter that gets destroyed nets 5 mio Cr, every destroyer 10 mio (if necessary higher bounties for larger vessels will be announced).

Best regards, Proinsias Cassidy, BMM

PS: Edited: Bounties not allowed from private persons against factions, so please see the Crowns Bounty Board if you manage to shoot someone down during the defese, will add funds to the authorities instead.

Good day.
A bounty placed on ''all hostile ships'' is considered a ''blanket bounty'' within the scope of the server rules - a right reserved only by official factions.
As an independent player or a member of a faction, you yourself cannot place such a bounty.

You will need to either hire freelancers on the spot as guards or you may choose to list specific ship names in your bounty thread. Either or works.

If you are unable do do the above, try promising an extra payment on an existing bounty that is already sponsored by another faction.

Oh, sorry for that. But still, feel free to consider yourself hired by BMM - all who are in defese of the Station.

In that case, you will need to be present to make such a statement.

Freelancer Hire and Bounty Hunting

Quote:1. All bounties must be posted in the appropriate forum, here. If you attack another player to claim a bounty and the bounty is not posted on the forum, you are open to a PvP abuse sanction. You can post RP elsewhere, as appropriate, but any bounty needs recording via that link.

4. Mercenaries, freelancers and bounty hunters may be hired on the spot in game by non-generic IDed players to assist with a combat without a forum post. The other parties involved in the combat must be made aware of this.

These are the two rules lines that are currently the most important in your case. Make sure you have covered them, as not doing so may put yourself and the players who might not know better at risk of breaking the server rules and in such a case - will result in a sanction.

From what I've seen, apparently the POBs are being treated like players in some situations.

With that in mind, a standing "escort" contract would be more appropriate. What Spazzy is saying is that The Crown Bounty Board already offers rewards for dead Dublinites. In fact, publicly stating the base's location, and the fact that there will be people that bounties can be claimed on present, and you'll get a herd of peeps.

Whether or not anyone will be ON at the time is another question.

Also, spazzy, check out @"Undertaker"'s posts in the last 24 hours; they're posting in other people's message dumps.

Cool, thanks for that, will do this. Don't know if the Mollys know that the base is core 2, they might be attacking right now (//when honest People have to work in the middle european timezone) or after midnight (//when said honest People have to sleep), so being present all the time is difficult...

I went ahead and read the RP behind the Mollys attacking the base.

History lesson: The Republic of Dublin has a very, very good reason to despise BMM's corporate overlords.

However, ideology gives way to pragmatism after a certain point. They'd probably be willing to negotiate a settlement of a large sum of credits, docking access, and other sundries (mostly political in nature), but you had to essentially say "Hey de facto dominant power in Dublin, I'm not going to let you in." The expected is happening.

At this point, they've committed, but your response to their completely reasonable "we're the big bad scary taxation-leveling unlawfuls, and we're working our way up to asking you for a contribution to our glorious cause" could be summed up as a restatement of BMM's corporate policy. That is not something they want to hear.

If I were you, I'd call the Mollys back up and apologize to them, citing that you were talking to Gauls or something and got a wire crossed. Both sides of the table know it's a lie, but it's clearly to save face. Just pay their base fees. You'll make your money back in two runs, tops.

What have I done wrong here Exodite? Need to get this right for the future.

Well, no. I am obligated by the rules to not let enemies of Bretonia dock at the base. Mabye a bribe could have worked, but the Mollies keep pestering us for a few days anyway. The base is remote, so no harm done for Molly patrols either. If they want to be the dagger in the backbone of Bretonias economy during wartime, so be it. Even bought a Battleship for the occasion, so hopefully they don't bring in the Gauls or the corsairs //and I am not at work or sleeping.
