Mr. Wight,

There are ample opportunities within The Guild's paramilitary for skilled and experienced snubcraft pilots. The success and longevity of GMG has depended on them for hundreds of years. In addition, many find a sense of belonging in being part of a great organisation they may not have previously experienced elsewhere.

Please proceed to the Gas Miner Naha where you may be briefed on an overview of our current operations so you may find a suitable placement.

Cordially,

Keiji Namura

RE: Gas Miners Guild Recruitment - Implosion - 04-18-2018

Name: Tadashi Maruso

Age: Old enough.

Relevant Experience or Education: Three years in the GMG

Notable Background: I was a GMG pilot back in the day, despite my questionable past, they hired me. I quit my job along the way and now that I think about, it wasn't a very good choice. I've worked for private contractors for a while, mostly escort jobs here and there. I tried the whole "space racer" thing, but it was too boring. No one even managed to get close to me. Sure, always winning is good, but it gets dull after a while. So, I went back to my roots and started hauling again. The Chickamauga, my faithful Stork, has been all around Sirius and so far, I've always delivered on time with minimal damage to the goods.

Reason for Selecting GMG: It's the best choice out there.

Desired Area of Work: I can do whatever. I excel in combat, mining and I don't mind riding on a transport.

RE: Gas Miners Guild Recruitment - Thunderer - 04-22-2018

Name: Tanaka Yuuto

Age: 37

Relevant Experience or Education: Middle degree education, mercantile and ship piloting experience.

Notable Background: I was born on Planet Honshu. My father was, as always, absent. My mother was a Christian peasant woman and I thought, until recently, that she had married my father only because she wanted "to see the stars". She never had any professional job and, when we were not on a trip with my father, or when she was not gossiping with her friends, she was in the kitchen. My father was an atheist and an employee of the GMG, and he mined gas five days a week, only coming home for the weekend. But, it he did provide us with a good life standard. His father did the same, and so did his father's father. There was a story that circled the family, which said that one of our ancestors participated in the Eighty Years War, and fired a torpedo which crippled some unspecified Rheinland cruiser. My grandfather was ardent about it, my father was indifferent, and I did not like it. It seemed too boastful and violent to me. At the time I did not think one should boast about violence. My life was rather peaceful, except a few, but rather mundane exceptions, and during the war with Rheinland, but all I saw of it was the interior of an underground shelter on Honshu.

When I finished high school, I did not want to do the same job as my father, nor did I want to enroll into a university. I was thrilled about the freedom I got, and did not want to squander it by continuing some boring legacy or enchaining myself with books. I wanted to see the world. I worked for the GMG for some time, but only as long as it took me to learn to fly a spaceship and earn the money I needed to go to a bank and pay the first installment for a freighter and a cargo hold of oxygen. I managed to find some second hand Bumblebee that was very cheap, and I bought it. Its interior was in a sad state, it provided no luxury at all, the anti-gravity field sometimes malfunctioned and very unpredictably, and it would start to shake and creak a lot if I flew it faster than 300 m/s so I did not do that, but it could fly. And it had a large cargo hold. It only took me a year to pay off both the debt and the interest, and I also had enough to afford some repairs and overhauls. I went bigger after that, abandoning the Honshu oxygen runs, and started realizing my dream: I left that backwater of an Imperial Kusari and started doing international trade. The taxes were high for independent traders, but I lived for flying rather than doing the flying for a living, so that did not bother me. Then all these wars broke out again: first Kusari with Bretonia, then Rheinland with Liberty, and then those French people came out of nowhere to make it even better. I had to spare some money for an armament, reluctantly, and take a space defense course. Needless to mention, borders were not as crossable as before. But at the end of the day, I actually had fun. Blockade running became a favourite of mine, with all the thrill of war but without endangering other people's lives. I preferred shipping food or refugees, but refused to deal with military material. I did not want to be responsible for someone's death. This still paid very well and let me live like if I was at least two social classes higher. I had my part of fun with women at that time, but I decided never to marry because I did not want to be tied to something, but remain free. Although I am a Kusarian, I admit I did a number of refugee shipments off of Seto during the Seto War, and although the rule is "women and children first", I admit I preferred taking women off more. Bretonian women were not much better than Kusari propaganda would say, sadly, but I could afford a lot of sake or whiskey or whatever was locally available. But the Bretonians, as people, were much better than the Kusari propaganda used to claim, and no worse nor better than an average Kusarian. I think that their propaganda said the same about Kusarians, but I never paid attention of any propaganda. I never involved myself in any war directly so far, and I only helped civilians during the Seto War. I tried to keep it secret, but rumours reached Honshu quickly, and although the government did not seem to care or notice, the neighbourhood started looking at me as a traitor. Not that I minded because I rarely visited home, but my parents did not speak with me for a long time, and I did not even know when my father died of cancer. I came back as soon as I heard, which was two weeks late, and found my mother in utter grief. That was in 817, but she still wears black clothing. I afforded her good care in a nursing home, but that was all I could do. She still blamed me for everything and claimed that I had dishonoured the family, but I could not see a reason.

I think that Gallia invaded next year. The war with Bretonia ended, and I was very pleased that Kusari became a republic and, although I was sad about our military defeat, I tried to look at the bright side and I was happy that the people of Kusari were free. I returned and did some shipments around Kusari instead. I still do so now, but I do not involve myself in politics and I was quickly disappointed. Freedom was only a word written on paper, the new constitution was a facade, and the Kusari society still stayed backwards. Corruption got out of control. Not that I minded, practically: I could evade tax more easily. But I felt disappointed.

It was at that time that I started working with the GMG more closely. You are a corporation, you are interested in profit, so you do business more rationally than Kusari. H-fuel was and still is on a high demand in Bretonia and it is rather profitable in Liberty, too, so I did that for a living in the recent times. But one event changed my routine.

Pirates are one thing. Two million, or you die. Alright, I'll pay two million, and I go with my life, and my ship intact. I'll make up for the deficit in time, and be sure to be more careful not to fall into an ambush next time. Maybe I'll sing a song, or give them sake, and they will get ruddy in their cheeks and let me go.
Embargoes are one thing. If caught, you drop your cargo, pay a fine in some cases, and go. You are a civilian, they cannot harm you.

But the Rheinland Military is another thing.

A couple of days ago I was hauling H-fuel through Sigma-13. The lane was disrupted at one point and my ship fell out of it. What I saw was a Rheinland cruiser, and a Kamome, one of yours, of course. Very cute ships, I must add. In a couple of seconds, it did not exist any more. I have seen military ships get shot down a couple of times, their pilots ejecting, but this was murder. This was a transport, a miner transport. Those are crewed by civilians. They are not made to evacuate in seconds. I have heard that Rheinland declared war on the GMG because of some border station disruption. Is that in the GMG's interest, almost destroying a Rheinland station, and an insignificant one too, without any reason? To get slaughtered by a killing machine later? Of course not. This is a setup. Rheinland wants to take something that we, Kusarians, have settled first. They want to steal from us: they are like pirates, except that it is not two million or die. It is two million and die. And seeing their treatment of our civilians, I think that they want to root us out as a people, so they can settle our systems. I have heard that their population thinks that the Kusarians are a lower race. This sounds even more backwards than the Kusari society! What is after Sigma-13? Honshu. So many people live on that planet. If Rheinland is prepared to use all means possible to subdue us, then I think we should use all means possible to defend. If they attack our security forces, we should counter attack their military. If they attack our civilians, then we should counter attack their civilians. This is why I dislike violence: it only leads to more violence. But now it is either that, or death. I will defend with whatever I have rather than die.

Very "conveniently", the lane disruption caused my "trusted" Bulblebee's engine to fail. It sat there, motionless, in front of a warship full of indiscriminate murderers. I hoped that the lack of a heat signal would block their sensors, and the lack of visibility and the interference the Crow Nebula caused would block their radar. I sent no message to them. And, in silence, they left.

I swore to myself that this was the last time I would cower and stay silent to such an injustice. That is why I want to join you. I am not the best fighting pilot, but I have heard good things about your training, and I am prepared for the hardship. And, most importantly, I am prepared to pull the trigger. Few men know how to fight, even fewer can actually pull the trigger. I have left my old Bumblebee on Honshu, she is not a fighting ship and I would hate to see her hurt. But the Kaichou is known as a very combat worthy vessel, and you have a lot of them. Do you have enough pilots?

I wish my grandfather was alive. I would ask him to tell me that story again. I forgot most of it.

Reason for Selecting GMG: Tradition, defense of righteousness.

Desired Area of Work: Bomber wing.

If none, mark as N/A, otherwise link to any previous sanctions: Can't bother finding the threads, but I was sanctioned two times. First time in 2011, for shooting a transport with a cap (was my first blue and also my first sanction, yay), second last year, I think, for grouping with a Molly as BAF to shoot some Corsairs. I also received a warning level of 10% last year, for using the word "Zyklon B" in an RP thread.

Confirm you are fluent in the Discovery server rules: I'm not, but I can confirm that Karlotta's rewrite of the same is grammatically sound because I did the grammar check on it.

Previous faction experience: BAF| HC, BHG|Core, Bowex), Aerelm's [RHA], Core|, MRG|
