The turrets on stations are TERRIBLE... They can't deffend themselves atall.I mean soon as ya get into a VHF you can sit outside most bases and the turrets do NOTHING. You can just go AFK or eat some cheese or somthing.

On Excelcia they made the turrets MUCH stronger. The stations KICK ARSE. I mean if you sit outside a jumpgate without movin and it wants you dead, you WILL BE dead. But they made it odd by putting on wierd guns like the Li cruiser front gun and stuff..

Could we possibly just make the NORMAL station turrets stronger? Without changing the way they look?

I think this was disscussed before. Could be wrong, though.

Yes, station turrets in general need a major upgrade. I don't know about the BS Station weapons, but everything else has little effect, even on other NPCs. It would make fighting around bases a much more dangerous aspect for the attackers (Since now the only things that can hurt PCs are other PCs or the MkII house fighters).

Meh. Excelcia has it so all the houses are at an equal level. :P Bases own players and NPCs. Battleships PWN players and everything else pretty much.. and gunboats have the same power as a cruiser aparently.. and a bit.. x.x

I agree with you gezza though I do find it amusing to take my time positioning my ship in front of a hostile jump gate with about 128064 hostiles on my tail and not worry about dying.

Lol I'm not sugesting we go THAT hardcore with station defences.. :P Just enough to kill a VHF with a good level 10 shield.

Well if we give the station turrets the same firepower the turrets on cruisers that should do the job, maybe throw in a few station class missiles too.

Then again I've had cruiser groups drop a BS shield pretty fast, and no they weren't using their forward guns.

At the moment it seems to be either or both the fighter escort they have and the massive amount of missiles the gunboats can pump out.

On Excelcia, (I will post soem screeneis of these turrets in action :P) dockign rings shoot a very strong gun, that shoots about 0 shots in 2 second, then stops for about 12 seconds. It also has a fast kinetic impact high damage missile launher, and two very strong normal firing turrets.


I think that would be a good idea. enough to destroy a Heavy fighter, and possibly enough to dent a gunboats sheilds.

Doesn't that just encourage even more capship use? Us fighter pilots don't exactly have an easy time against mkII ships and capship patrols as it is... I think, especially taking into account how quickly jumpgates / stations / trade-lane rings turn on you if some random corporation potters by that happens to dislike what you're wearing, that instant destruction of hostile fighters is a little overkill. Sure, they all need bumping up in power but let's not go overboard :0P

Personally I think that its more realistic. Fighters WOULD get mauled by stations if they just sat there. Battleships wouldn't.

Capital ships are USED to take out stations really. Fighters shouldn't be destroyed INSTANTLY thats just silly. I'm sayin if they stood STILL they would just go boom. Still not INSTANTLY though.

BTW: Wadya mean US fighter pilots? I'm a fighter pilot aswell!

I think that the idea would be to have damage increased on stations, not necessarily players' ships.

I believe when we talked about this before, there was the idea to add in chain gun solaris turrets to the station. I think that we could do something similar, but just not the same given that a chain gun solaris turret wouldn't be available to everyone in particular.
