Help us choose an ID! - The Hansa - 02-20-2018

Hello Discovery community!

Four of us are in the process of setting up an RP trading faction based around the traditional north sea concept of Hanseatic ports and the preferential trading history between them. The faction is intended to be a Rhineland-originated collective of independent small shippers who have banded together to cover cornerstones of the trading market traditional large corporations have classically overlooked, such as providing direct export from Rheinland to the borderwords, after seeing a potential for growth amongst the various isolated trading-dependent communities of Sirius for core-worlds goods and services that they otherwise couldn't obtain in bulk. The organisation is meant to be rather traditionalist in outlook, entirely shareholder owned, and rather independent in its diplomacy from the official stance of the government, due to the Hansa's anti-monopolist stance.

We need an ID that would work for the above lore, and has access to the following:

- Primary ID needs to be relatively independent from government oversight (I.E: not a 'Loyal' corporation).

- Needs to be able to fly 5k transports and land them in Rheinland (we hope to help remote PoBs stay supplied as part of what we do).

- Can't be hostile with Rheinland or have any real chance that future mod development will make the Hansa hostile to Rheinland.

- Needs to have a little bit of freedom (the group might subtly deal on the side with unlawfuls).

- Doesn't need to have mining bonuses on the ID.

- Doesn't need piracy. It's going to be a primarily pacifist group. Might have a few escorts now and then.

Optional:

- Non-hostile with Gallia, ideally. It's an apolitical movement. On an Oorp level, Gallia is beautiful to fly in.

Ideally, we would have used Zoner ID, but the docking restriction for Hansa 5ks in house space is a little unworkable. What other options do you suggest? Kruger? In some ways, we're a more decentralised, Rheinland-originated, less corporate version of what Border Worlds Exports was in vanilla, whose transports used to head all the way up to Tau 23, back when Tau 23 still represented the frontier.

Thank you for your help!

Interspace Commerce?

That's a good idea. Isn't Interspace commerce rephacked hostile with Gallia? The Hansa wouldn't necessarily have any problems with Gallia, being inherently apolitical.

I use the OSC ID for Sirius Postal Services. They can trade with the Corsairs and they're generally seen as sketchy, and they have a base in Stuttgart. They can use 5k transports too.

Gateway!

We're not affilited with the Crown, we have 5k'ers, and a more or less neutral reputation in/to rheinland. You'd be free to do deals with unlawfuls as far as your diplomacy will take you, no mining bonuses, but you can pirate Bowex out of house space, and Gallic corps anywhere. Obviously cant trade in Gallia (unless maybe with the unlawfuls, if you ask nicely maybe?)

Problem is, we don't want to be Gallia-hostile unless there's no other options. Good suggestions, though.

Actually, OSI ID would be ideal, but we're not OSI, that's the issue. If OSI would be interested in a sub-faction arrangement, that could work.

Edit: This isn't a thread to advertise your own faction. We have an idea that we think hasn't been played out yet, and we want to explore it. Whilst it's appreciated, we're looking for an unofficial ID we can use to represent our context. Please be respectful and don't recruit here.

Just a thought: Have you Petition or applied to the Admin to issue Civilian ID that is neutral to all but Nomads and Wild as an Experiment into your purposed trading routes? You never know until you ask.

Just want to state that IC is hostile to unlawfuls.

In my opinion, if you plan your faction as a Rheinland-originated cargo shippers and with "traditionalist outlook" but also require access to 5kers, it would be quite weird to use anything else than some Rheinland corporate ID. The most obvious choice would be Republican Shipping, possibly a branch of ALG might work as well.

The requirement of some independency is possible even with RS ID as there is always some roleplay space to shape your faction how you want it including diplomacy. Of course you canĀ“t go against house laws for example by publically supporting known enemies of the state, but that would not be possible with any ID without facing serious consequencies. Also there is limitation of the rephacks, but that will be always an issue unless you will use Freelancer ID.

However there is always option of secret diplomacy deals and if you would make it to officialdom, you could affect even the rephacks. The official ALG faction (which is now on the way to oblivion, unfortunately) is good example of creative attitude and distinctive diplomacy, for years they are allies with IMG, despite the guild is viewed as unwelcomed competition for native corporations in Rheinland inRP, and they even secretly have some ties with enemies of the state like Bundschuh, The Order or recently they did not want to go hostile with GMG despite the declared war. Also few times they publically voiced opinions which were not in a line with official Rheinland political stance.
