An idea to tackle NewYork No PVP - Teaboy - 09-08-2006
It is currently not possible to have a liberty navy faction, because of the no pVP rule in Newyork.
My idea is that a system should be created next to new york. This system will be where players start, where players put their banks etc, and will be a no PVP system. It will not a part of liberty.
This will allow the no PVP rule to be lifted from New York, and Liberty Space opened up for fighting/attacks/pvp/RP and a liberty navy alligned faction.
I dont know what the system should be connected to, maybe just copy and paste new york as it were - but call it something different. This way it will still keep the same set up as new york has currently, the same jhs/jgs. This will mean it wont change how easy/hard it is to get to new system from any specific point. Obviously additional jh/jgswill need to be added between New York and this new system, but i dont think new york > new system should be the only route.

I don't agree. Just leave the rule in place.
There are 50+ systems to PvP in, why everybody wants to PvP in NY instead?

The reason why many ppl want to do things where thay cant is because they cant. i know this because im a kid. Somtimes ppl in ny annoy me and i would like to blast them into iddy biddy bits of dust. however thats not possible. i somwhat agree with teaboy's idea but i think that there are more important things to be modded right now (see "suggestions for 4.81" thread ( i think thats what its called)

New York is a central system, its the Central system
also, no PVP in newyork means you cannot have Liberty Based Factions. and that is my main reason.

Plus traders are forever camping there when pirates or phantoms turn up or pass through minor, alaska and delta.
You know how much people like to camp there, jessica stuck all her characters there to avoid the bounty placed on her.

why would no PvP in NY mean u cant have a liberty navy/police faction You still have Alaska , Texas ,Colorado, and California . As for starting new chars somewhere else than Manhattan why ? NY is set up so new guys can make a liitle money before starting to explore the universe

Because Igiss has stated that no faction is allow to allign to the Liberty navy/police/lsf. Why would any one want to start a liberty faction? they cant do anything, anyone they try and attack will run to new york. And anyone they chase will also go through NY.
The NoPVP system cant be taken away, there has to be one, we've established that. I jsut dont think it should be new york, it should be one that isnt used much, that isnt right in the centre of the whole of everything. - ie a new one

Well, If Igiss makes a new system for players to start into, and make that the no PvP system, people will go there not to get killed. The only way to solve that would be to have the system jh go only one way (Like in the freeworlds mod). But then that would defeat the purpose of a No PvP system in a sense. So I Think that we are just gonna have to stick to NY.
But I concur that people with camp there just to not get killed, which is stupid and childish. But as I see it, this issue with the No PvP system is like a rock and a hard place. Its like a lose, lose situation, so unless it gets amended so that people over lvl 30 can get killed in NY, we will still have this issue. But on the flip side, its nice to have a system that you dont have to worry about getting killed in by other players (as long as they follow the rules).

No Met2085, it cant be like that because people use NY to house their store characters. and its not fair that they should be allowed to be killed,,,

The best way to avoid traders camping there is to remove all the profitable routes that go through or passes near NY.
For example, if you are caught in the middle of the route between kurile and cambridge, you will have to make a 30 min run to reach NY.
