Akiha's ongoing story - Akiha_Omori - 03-04-2018

Might be fun to share, so I'll post my session notes up until this point.
It is like a diary, resembling that of Trent in the Neural Net Log in the Vanilla campaign.

Note that while this is written by Akiha inRP, this info is not available inRP (PM me), so please don't let it influence your inRP interactions with Akiha or other mentioned characters.
Please keep this thread clean, post any feedback in my feeback thread.

Enjoy!

Session 1

Day 1

On the run.

Pawned all my stuff and fled from New Tokyo.
Let this be a lesson not to let emotions cloud your judgement. Lest you do something stupid.
Like I did.

I fled to shikoku. Doesn't matter where I go, just as long as I get off the grid. Both Samura and Kishiro will surely be after me soon.

Landed on Deshima, a BHG base. No news of a bounty on me yet, but I won't be able to stay here.
Flew into Keiun, found an old fighter ship loaded with drugs.
It also had some docking-codes and weapons. May as well take em.

Found a base in there as well. Golden Chrysanthemums it seems. The automated systems gave me clearance to land when I presented the codes.
Let's hope no-one looks more into that.
Bought a sidearm. Might need it.

Flew to the Shiun cloud. Found another wreck. This one was Hogosha and carried some strange artifacts. Probably should remember to jettison those if I enter Liberty space.

Next cloud, Saiun.
Met a fellow called Wilfred Lombard who mentioned a jump hole to an uncharted system.
Perfect! That's exactly what I need right now!

Apparently, the hole is to narrow for larger ships so Wilfred couldn't follow, but I got through. The system was about as barren as one would expect though.
There were a few bases, a Kusari Battleship, some Asteroid base and a Freeport. No radio contacts. No responses. Lights are on though so they are just ignoring me.
No place for me to stay unfortunately so I head Back to Shikoku.

Wilfred was still on the comms and was heading for New York. I dumped the artifacts since they would only cause a fuss in Liberty and caught up to Wilfred in Gallileo, I ran into a Rogue along the way but he let me pass once he was convinced I had nothing to give to him.
Quite the difference once you get outside Kusari, it seems bloodthirsty criminals are everywhere, even prowling the lanes!
Unfortunately, once I caught up to Wilfred, so did the Rogue I had just met, so he proceded to make demands off Wilfred.

I offered to scout ahead for other such scum. I found a Lane Hacker by the next gate and warned Wilfred, he then gave me the coordinates for the Jump Hole to New York and told me to meet up there instead.

We arrived at Manhattan and finally met face to face on the landing pad.
Should be safe enough here for now. Let's hope I don't warrant a bounty.

Session 2

Day 2

Wilfred did have a plan. But that plan involved us heading into the Omicrons.
I guess if you want to lie low then there could be no better place for it. But I left Kusari because I want to *Live*, and given what you hear about the Omicrons that sounds contrary to that goal.
The plan was changed. We flew first to Curacao. I picked up some tea because Wilfred said that sells well in Bretonnia. Spoiler. It didn't really.

Then we scrounged around some bases for gold ore but ended up with gin. We flew through the Omegas to New Berlin where we traded the Gin for Beer and set off to New York.
Wilfred is really generous with his escort wages by the way, after that run I swapped the Stargazer for a Saishi.
It feels comforting to have something of my Home Culture with me.

Still no bounty with my name on it. Have they really not noticed?

We took some guns from Detroit to Rio Grande in Colorado, and winded down on Denver for the day.

Session 3

Day 3

We started out on Denver, shipping pharmaceuticals to Gran Canaria. Didn't know such beautiful planets existed outside house control!
Lot's of Corsairs abound in Bretonia who tried to stop us for our cargo, but since they didn't carry cruise disruptors we could just keep running away from them.
We then took Deuterium, which was super cheap on Gran Canaria by the way, and hauled it to Virginia.
There was a dark-matter cloud there. Readings made it seem safe enough so I took a quick peek inside, don't pick up anything but static however.
We picked up nanocapacitors on Houston and brought them to Erie where we stopped for a break and Sunbucks.

Session 4

Day 3

We did a run where we went to Kansas to pick up Copper Ore, then we brought it to Denver. Apparently the profit margin on that is super-high as Wilfred was giving me a 2M cut on each run.
We made two runs before calling quits for the day.
Wilfred did get mugged by some Xenos. Apparently right next to Ft Bush and just after I had passed by! But he says he came out ahead on that trip anyway.

Before we parted. Wilfred suggested that I get friendly with the Zoners as they are useful allies to have.
I started with Bethlehem Station. The Zoners are really chatty and getting on their good side wasn't hard.

Next I figured I should find out what has become of my name in Kusari. I flew back to Shikoku, specifically the Chrysanthemums Platform Morioka.
Seems Kishiro is the only one to have reacted to my defection so far, and only by putting up a bounty with the guild. A fairly small bounty relatively speaking, 1M.
I made some connections there and spilled some Kishiro secrets. The GC were in return gave me an 'In' with the Liberty Rogues.
I don't really care much for the Rogues or the GC, but if I can get them off my backs then it will all be worth it, and they might get me connected with other organisations.
I was right! A rogue fellow got me in touch with the Lane Hackers as well as the Outcasts.

Unfortunately, the anonymous large spending I was doing and the unusual flight paths finally brough the suspicion of the BHG on me. So after exploring some of the borderworld space I found my way to Barrier Gate Station in Coronado. The bartender there directed me to a representative of the BHG and recommended that I pay off my own bounty so I don't have to worry about being attacked.
So I did.

So what does this mean? It means I've got a few friends on the other side of the law if I should need it. But it also means that Kusari should be safe enough for me to visit as long as there is nothing to remind Kishiro or Samura of who I am.

Session 5 - Guncam folder 001

Day 4

Wilfred had another job on the line. Battlegroup Harmony, separatists from the Liberty Navy, are requesting materials deliveries to their depot in Bering. Turns out it was a really short round-trip too so what they are really paying for is the hauling effort. Easy money.
Unfortunately a wing of Xenos put the drop-off depot on lockdown so we only managed 3 runs. But it was quick, we will be able to deliver.

Session 6 - Guncam folder 002

Day 4 contd

I went off on my own while we were waiting for Bristol to come out of high alert. Figured I would start by exploring the debris-fields in Texas.
I hear there was some hush-hush gate-experiment conducted there back in the 500's that went crazy wrong and is blighting the system to this day.
Well, they ain't kidding. Half the system is covered in some kind of dark-matter cloud. Remains of the testing facilities are still drifting around in there and in the pich-black insides of the cloud the scene becomes quite eerie.

Next I explored the asteroid fields in bering. I found a lot of wreckage, especially in the southern ends of the system. I have read about the Liberty/Rheinland war before. Never given it much thought before but really, any two houses going at it would be a titanic struggle. Kusari's war with Bretonnia would seem small in comparison since our systems are so far apart. Liberty and Rheinland however...
I picked up a lot of salvageable equipment so I was able to almost completely outfit my ship at last, I don't plan to seek out battle, but if it comes to me then this should help out a great deal.

Next I flew around New york a bit, still haven't visited Pittsburg for instance.
As I was heading into the lane by Ft.Bush I was stopped by a Navy Carrier, Semper.Fortis, who questioned me about my sidearm. I'm really not looking to make enemies with the law and having to flee another house! Another Freelancer was nearby and pointed out that my transponder was IFFing my ship as belonging to the Golden Chrysantemums! That explains why some people have been acting wierd!
Gotta get that fixed! Can't have people thinking I'm some kind of radical!
Gotta wonder if Wilfred knew about it. Why did he not tell me then?

Glad I know a thing or two about similar equipment, after having gotten my hands dirty and recalibrated the transponder I flew to Erie. There I was approached in space by a fellow callsigned THP|EX-Black.Asp who chatted me up for a bit. Then he hired me and another fellow to do some munitions trading from Detroit.
Semper.Fortis was very suspicious of us when we were hanging by Detroit. At first I thought it was just because of my transponder issue earlier. But I think it was more about Brooks, the man who I was hired to escort. Maybe he has a record?
I was expecting to do something like when I'm escorting Wilfred and to run ahead in the lanes. But Brooks was at the helm of a carrier with a Jump Drive so I wasn't doing any scouting at all, and not really doing much escorting either. And with my tiny cargo-hold I wasn't gonna turn much of a profit hauling. So I wonder what Brooks intentions were with hiring me.
But he was paying 2M sized chunks along the way and wasn't asking anything of me so I didn't ask anything of him.
Our cargo was Munitions. Destination was Freeport 11 in Omicron Delta.
First time riding a jump drive. Feels similar to a Jump Gate but with a more pronounced tug. Meanwhile, Delta... it looks kindof like a tunnel. Makes you wonder if space is curved in some way when you're there. The local area behaves much like regular space, no anomalies.
Once we were there we ran into a Coalition pilot who wanted to join us on the way back. Not my call to make but Brooks agreed. We brought Iridium aboard for the return trip. IRIDIUM! That's crazy valuable but on FP11 they had it for cheap!

Our jump brought us close to manhattan where we unloaded at Newark and prepared for another lap. The presence of the Coalition ship stirred up the Navy and Brooks deflected the blame by shifting it onto the Coalition pilot, saying it ran into the Jump rift just before it closed.

We went again, same deal but this time we came under attack from what I can only assume is Nomads, but Brooks had brough another friend along. Megaera. She made short work of them.
More Iridium for the return trip.

For the third and final trip. Brooks and Landon brought Black Market Weapons instead. Being all sarcasting about *NOT* bringing illegal weapons. I guess there's a bigger profit margin for untraceable guns.
And instead of Iridium for the return trip, we picked up Alien Artifacts, and I just couldn't resist. Could I get this past security onto Manhattan? In hindsight this was STUPID! The same kind of stupid that got me away from New Tokyo and into space in the first place!
But curiosity got the better of me. I had to try right?

The return jump brought us close to the NY star, we ran for it towards Manhattan. Semper.Fortis and a Freelancer were hanging there but they didn't seem to notice. Maybe they assumed we were clean since the last two hauls were.
We landed and Brooks showed us a place to pawn off the items. I didn't make much money with my tiny cargo-hold, Note to self: Don't risk pissing of the cops unless you can make more than a few Million.

At this point Brooks was planning a fourth trip, but had to go it alone. So me and Landon flew off but went separate ways shortly after.
I headed back to FP2. Gotta ask Wilfred if he knew about the transponder.

Session 7 - Guncam folder 003

Day 5

We resumed our deliveries of Hull Panels to Bristol.
Wilfred knew about the transponder issue but didn't think it was a big deal... Yeah. I'm just coming off as a foreign radical terrorist when I'm trying to lay low. Thanks Wilfred!

During our laps we saw an increasing buildup of Unioners in Bering. They seemed to gather that we were shipping on behalf on Harmony though and so they left us alone.
On the Texas side of the gate however we could see a similar buildup by the Liberty Navy. Significanlty fewer and smaller ships though.
Wilfred worried that LN might piece together what we were doing so he suggested we should use the Texas-Bering jump hole instead for our deliveries. Smart man.

After the twelfth run Wilfred said that the officer on Bristol was just another 1000 panels short of having what they needed, so even though we had finished our contracts already we decided to make one more run. Who knows, maybe BG Harmony would pay some kind of bonus.
This is when most of the fighting started over by the Texas Gate in Bering. Amid it all were some pilots from Forlorn Hope. Couldn't really make out which side they were on since the Unioners suspected them of tipping off the LN and ordered to open fire on them. But then the Unioners publically praised and announced their intent to pay the Forlorn Hope for their help mere moments later.
Bizzare, but I'll chalk that up to not having the complete picture.

As we were about to make the final delivery the battle had already drifted all the way over to Freeport 2 and Bristol was on high alert. It was only once the dust started to settle that Wilfred could land and unload the last of the panels.
Wilfred posted the manifests and not that long after Harmony responded with the promised payment as well as an impressive bonus. I'm getting a feeling that they may be a steady source of work (and credits) for me and Wilfred so I'll do my best to stay on their good side!
Maybe they will be interested in any of the footage I collected on the battle between LN and UN? May as well ask.

Session 8 - Guncam folder 004

Day 6

So last day was certainly something! I heard from the people aboard Freeport 2 that some huge energy weapon was detonated near the Texas gate. Looking for footage I found a recording by the Forlorn pilot that launched it.
Seems me and Wilfred escaped that with but a few seconds to spare, and we didn't know anything about it!
Feels weird to think about it...

We launched from FP2 but had to get a move on since some rogues were taking pot shots on Wilfred.
There was a Unioner ship there also, he left us alone but told me to move along "before it's too late".
Not gonna stick around to argue with that.

Wilfred was in the mood for exploration rather than hauling, so we went to Planet Los Angeles to pick up his spatial.
That's a nice looking ship, maybe I'll fly one of those some day.

Before we could make up our mind on where to go, a Freelancer in a Serenity stopped and seemed really chatty. We talked about this and that and decided that we should go to Omega-49 to map it out.
Our new friend, Lewis Harlington, told us about how he grew up in Cambridge, but that he's spent a lot of time in Rheinland for work.
We also talked about languages, and it seems maybe I offended both Wilfred and Lewis when I said Libertonian and Bretonian was the same, they were quite persuasive on the point that it's not.
Also, Note to self: Look up Italian.

In Omega-49, while we were chatting. I kept an eye on the routes of other ships. Letting my nav-computer run their trajectories backwards I identified a few points of interest.
Turns out that method totally works! Though Wilfred kind of spoiled it by calling all the holes or stations before we got close.

We found a hole to Dublin but were greeted by mines and an approaching fighter wing on the other side.
I don't know the first thing about the Mollys, but if the want to keep me out that bad then I don't want to get in. And that's that.
The second point of interest was a base, also Molly, and it broadcast a pretty clear message. "Stay away"

Wilfred pointed out two more holes that I hadn't deduced. One was Omega-52, which he said was a Coalition system, but he also assured us that the immediate vicinity of the hole on the far side was safe enough for a quick visit.
I went first and immediately came under fire from a capital ship. No time time to look at scans, I boosted up behind one of the larger ice blocks in the field. Wilfred and Lewis did the same thing.
Since this was clearly hostile territory, and neither of us knew the location of any other holes in the system, we had to risk going inside the range of the battleship to get out, but we managed.

Wilfred had a fix on another hole, this one for Omega-58. I was planning on just spotting the hole and then turn away, but it seems Wilfred was intent on exploring this one too and offered to go first.
The other side was... quiet. Scanners revealed a distant station with a quiet transponder. The did not appear to have a star at its center of mass, but rather a large, dark and radioactive cloud.
Wilfred seemed to know about this system and said that it had been used as a retreat for Nomad Infected Rheinlanders.
I'm not a fan of ghost stories and combined with the creepy lighting and the crawling of space-amoeba on the outside of my cockpit was just a bit much.
We didn't delve any deeper.

We decided that we should head to Omega-3 next. I reckon that's a good system to know the layout to.
As we entered Poole however, Lewis said he got a call from a friend on New London and needed to go there urgently. We kept him company on the way over, then me and Wilfred took a break for some tea.

Session 9 - Guncam folder 005

Day 7

Wilfred suddenly excused himself from the tea, said he just got wind of an opportunity and left me hanging.
After some fifteen minutes he sent me a message, hastily written from the looks of things. Said that he found out about a shipment of cheap gold ore in Dublin and had to run and get his Serenity. He said he would contact me once he was back in New London.
That was yesterday. He didn't say for how long he would be gone, but I expected an hour at most. I give him at least that much credit as a pilot.

So after a nights rest at a cheap planetside motel I explored the capitol of bretonia. I noticed that there was a consistent theme running through most establishments. Gargoyles, leering jesters with sharp teeth and red eyes. What's up with that?
I mean, I realize we have a ton of Dragons and Buddhas in Kusari, but those are seen as positive symbols due to their connotations with power, wisdom or benevolence. What does actual man-eating monsters symbolize to the bretonians? Why would one want to eat dinner under the gaze of a dozen giant demonic clowns? I don't get it.

I took a tour through the Cornwall and Cumbria asteroid fields in New London to pass the time. Found quite a few abandoned stations in both of the fields that I explored, wonder what their story is. Cumbria also had a perimeter of warning buoys, but they did not specify for what, though I quickly noticed the effects once I passed by, this was a volatile gas-field. The Saishi's sensors were able to mark the highest concentrations so I was able to pilot through safely.
I located a jump hole to Dublin inside Cumbria, and several more derelict stations.
I returned again to New London, and just in time for Wilfred was finally here, he had already been to Dublin and picked up the shipment, so our next destination was New Berlin.

Taking point, Wilfred pointed out that my ship's movements were erratic. Must've bumped something back in Cornwall I figured, so we made a quick stop at Cardiff.
The error turned out to be a sliver of rock that had jammed into one of the sensors inside the engine block. Causing it to mis-calibrate the fuel injection. Easily fixed, but not exactly a good sign for a ship that's less than a week old!
When I launched again, Wilfred was talking to a Crayterian callsigned Blaze. Seemed friendly enough, Wilfred had him tag along with us.

The rest of the trip to Berlin was without any major complication. A few Hessians disrupted the lane in Omega-7 but Blaze handled them.
From New Berlin we flew to Manhattan, that's where we parted with Blaze.
Wilfred had secured another contract with Harmony, same deal as last time only this time we figured we would approach Bering from Hamburg instead of Texas. Makes sense when the Liberty Navy have a reason to detain us and the Rheinlanders do not.
But seeing how hot it got last time I planned to have some more insurance before we embark on this project. Unfortunately, while I may be good with tools and numbers, remembering names or locations is not quite so easy. So I looked through the shipdealers at Erie, Harrisburg, Philadeplphia, Manhattan and Trenton before I had to turn to the Neural Net to look up where it was that I had seen my ship to be. Turns out it was Planet Houston. Makes a lot of sense though, what with the kind of tech that powers it.

Just before we reached Houston however, our lane was disrupted. There appeared to be an ongoing battle between the Liberty Navy and the Unioners, just above the planet's atmosphere. Since we are on decent terms with both sides we took the gamble and ran for the docking ring.
Once we were safe and planetside I could get my new ship. A CTE-12400 Civilian Gunboat. Though one has to laugh at such a designation as 'Civilian Gunboat'. To me that sounds like a contractition if there ever was one. But it should let me mount some more firepower and armor and let me be somewhat useful in a fight.
Should also be able to turn this into a decent living-space so I wont have to run around rainy bretonian cities looking for a place to sleep!
Bad news however was that the dealers on Houston did not have any weapons that were compatible with gunboat sockets! So I was now figuratively driving a tank with no gun!

When I was done on Houston, the battle above had died down already, so me and Wilfred flew through Hudson into Hamburg and to Alster Shipyard. That was the source of panels that Wilfred had planned. There were some gattling turrets here that I bought to outfit my new home.
On the first round we spotted a Unioner ship near the hole to Bering, but it did not respond to our communications as we passed by.
We made two laps between Bering and Hamburg before I suggested we try the Texas route again, since it was quicker, with fewer lanes and less flying in open space. Wilfred said he had been thinking the same thing since he heard that there was a Gallic attack taking place in California that was drawing the Navy away from other Liberty systems.

The laps went quickly afterwards, with little to no contacts. There was an encounter with a few Xenos pilots, the gattling turrets proved their worth, three of the xenos perished and the fourth ran scared. Feel's weird but good to actually be able to instill fear in someone.
By the end of our fifth lap we spotted Lewis hanging in space near Freeport 2. He said he had been selected for a contract with the Unioners on behalf of some Princess who wanted a shipment of wine, only he didn't know where to get it. After our last lap we sat in space near Freeport 2 and vented.
We met a rude Freelancer callsigned John.Silverstone who loitered outside the freeport, as well as a Rogue destroyer, the Adventure.Galley. The Rogue captain seemed woefully misinformed about the conflicts going on in Bering, referring to the area as boring.

Wilfred had to get back to Manhattan, so I moored there and started furbishing my new house.

RE: Akiha's ongoing story - Akiha_Omori - 07-02-2019

Been on a hiatus for a bit but am looking to get back into it. This one was still lying around though so I figured i would upload it. This is follows just shortly after the above

Session 10 - Guncam folder 006

Day 8

Wilfred switched over to his Spatial and met me above Manhattan. We figured we'd just glide around and explore some more, so we head to Shikoku because he wanted to see the newly rediscovered uncharted Kuasri system.
My reading on the jump hole made it pretty clear that my new gunboat was not gonna fit through the hole, but Wilfred went through.
While I was waiting I kept calibrating the comms so that I could keep in touch with him on the other side. Since there is no grid there, the only signals are the ones travelling through the hole itself, and the hole is unstable. fortunately, I was able to isolate the noise and wire some extra boost to the transmitter.

Once Wilfred was back we decided to explore some of the Sigma systems. Specifically Sigma 21.
One of the holes led into Sigma-59, a very beautiful system owned by the GMG. We stopped at Niigata for a short bit.
