Flaks need to change - Binski - 03-19-2018 I've run into this a couple times lately. Cruisers are pretty close to invincible to 1v1 with a bomber now due to flaks. With turret zoom, its beyond imbalanced. You either have to get to point blank to risk doing anything (with antimatter weapons) or you get nothing done, you keep your distance firing novas, the capital ship doesn't hit anything, and neither does the bomber. Personally I think they should be left only on the largest of capital ships (Battleships/carriers), but at the very least, they need a way longer downtime, or ammo, or fuel, because the bomber faces those restrictions. 2 bombers, or a gank squad, should not be needed to have an effect in this situation. Now I know people will say, 'but without them they will surely die in no time'...but with them, they are surely invincible to the 1 v 1 situation, which, aside from organized events, seem to be the most often confrontation. Quite frankly, these cruiser flyers know full well that with flaks they have a severe advantage over their most likely foe. So, if they won't be dropped, I think they really need to stretch out how they are used. Longer downtime between shots, or give them ammo so they at least have a maximum usage ability, giving them time to escape or buy time while they can use them, yet not be guaranteed to wear the other side down until they're empty (with impunity). Bottom line, nothing would have to change except their ability to deflect torpedoes. Flaks used as anti-snubcraft weapons is a reasonable use, so make them use them for that, not torpedo deflection. They should require some other kind of countermeasure (decoy/flare) for torp killing. I'm all for balance, so there must be a medium between "they autowin" vs "the bomber autowins" somewhere. However, if you can't land 1 nova in a 1 on 1 situation, something just isn't right. Unless the @"TheUnforgiven" is speaking of battle-cruisers? Novas are more of a supportive weapon, I feel. They're good to lob at a large target and distract them so that they have to spend time dodging/flaking them away while one or more allies are able to use the opportunity to lob a SNAC or close in with their own cap for concentrated fire. If you're going to try and solo a bomber in a cruiser, I also feel that having an Asuras or a Neutralizer is necessary, while whittling down the enemy with either Energy Cannons (Gods that would take forever) or bomber codes. A heavy bomber would be better, just be careful that you're going to be a huge target if you go for the standard Waren. Please take what I say with a grain of salt, as I have not truly PvP'ed on a regular basis in years - I speak simply from an analytical, on-paper standpoint. Flaks are the counter to dual nova bombers. There comes a point at which you have to realize that a ship worth 50,000,000 credits is just going to lose to a ship worth 500,000,000 credits, due to the flexibility that the cruiser class commands. Can cruisers even use flaks? I feel like there's a miscommunication going on here. RE: Flaks need to change - Thunderer - 03-19-2018 Cruisers don't have flaks. Battlecruisers do. You can hit the latter with a snac without aiming, unless you're 50 years old and your eyes are damaged due to eating a lot of Nutella while having diabetes. RE: Flaks need to change - Titan* - 03-19-2018 you need like 3-4 skilled bomber to take out skilled cruiser but still that might not work, one mistake is enough it is also up to Cruiser. Battlecruiser is easier to kill compared to Cruiser. It is large and slow also nova torps can hit them very often but they have flaks. Antimatter cannon more useful compared to Nova Torpedo. Nova torpedo is good if target is distracted Just don't even try to duel capital ship in fighter or bomber, thats not going to work. If battleship or battlecruiser doesn't have Flak, you might able to destroy them with just Nova Torpedoes but there is also chance to run out of ammo before killing them. |
