The Zoner Alliance Lore and History.

The ZA is a tight-night order of Zoner paramilitaries drawn into the collective manpower pool of the Zoner Marine; a volunteer body of Zoner enforcer and reformed ex-mercenaries who have renounced violence for profit, contract killing, and persue a policy of non-interventionalism in line with their interpretation of the Dharmic-derived Zoner Way. They do not, however, persue vows of non-violence, believing that the policy of utilitarianism present throughout the Zoner community remains morally at odds with the individual, and even the pacifism, of the wider society. In essence, the Alliance are a highly trained vigilante guerrilla warfare group, offering unconditional strategic assistance to Zoner colonisation efforts across the sector’s independent systems. The Alliance personnel refer to themselves as “marines”, for, instead of affiliating themselves with any one freeport (and thus, Zoner inter-group Politicking), base themselves from a handful of converted Aquillon carriers, retrofitted, instead of as science vessel, as improvised warships, allowing the Alliance to rapidly cart itself around the sector to whichever crises may flare up next. The name “Alliance” refers not to any attempt to unify the Zoner movement under a monolithic banner, which the Alliance conceptually rejects. Instead, the “Alliance” refers partially to the spirit of mutual co-operation that defined the Alliance of Sol, and the brotherhood between separately administrated, separately funded, ZA Aquillon Marine Carrier Vessels.

The Zoner Alliance consider themselves a humanitarian defence body who seek to render Zoner self-defence programs independent from untrustworthy mercenaries or whims of House goverments, who are seen as detrimental to the wider Zoner policy of political apostasy and outbound, isolationist civilian life.

The Alliance is controversial within the Zoner movement. In 819 to 820 AS, the Alliance found itself involved at the epicentre of inter-Zoner fratricide after it overstepped its bound in the defence of Liviada shipyard and Corinth Research station, in Omicron Kappa, from a perceived Order attempt to infiltrate, to the endgoal of annexing, the shipyard itself. The Alliance, believing the station’s administrations had been compromised, boarded the outposts by force.

The Zoners claim that around fifty thousand individual personnel, including station crew, Alliance Marine Guards, Order and Core paramilitaries, and Corsairs, became casualties of the ensuing diplomatic nightmare. This figure is certainly a result of the Zoner habit for exaggeration; the true number is likely no higher than Five Thousand, including the entire crew and civilian compliment of the Mobile Colony ship, the <ZA> Tel Aviv. Following a massive unilateral defunding regime by their backing bodies, the ZA faded into relative obscurity.

It appears popularity for the pariah movement has increased of late, in part due to the neverending Order/Zoner influence exertion attempts over Freeport 11, the threat of WMDs against civilians as issued by groups such as the commune, along with opportunistic unlawfuls such as the Unioner Reichsarbeitergesellschaft and the Liberty Separatists.

Their battle-cry resounds, till even the vacuum quakes.

"Remember the Fifty Thousand, that gave their lives for our sakes."
